Delaware Academy officials announced that their elementary school will go to remote learning until after the Thanksgiving holiday, due to a recent COVID 19 positive test. The infected person was last on the campus on November 5th, the Middle School & High School will continue as previously scheduled.
During a Zoom press conference with New Mets Owner Steve Cohen & Mets President Sandy Alderson, it was announced that the Mets' minor league affiliates going forward will be AAA in Syracuse, AA in Binghamton & Single A teams in Brooklyn & St. Lucie, low A teams in Kingsport and Columbia will no longer be affiliated with the New York Mets.

A reward of $50,000 has been posted by the FBI in connection with the investigation into the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Shakeel Khan in Johnson City. Khan was shot as he was closing up his restaurant Halal Bites at 652 Riverside Drive on March 30th 2019.

State Senator Jim Seward announced that the recently adopted 2018-19 New York State budget includes $200,000 for the City of Oneonta to help offset public safety costs generated due to being a SUNY host community. Seward's legislation includes a formula to distribute state aid to municipalities hosting 4-year SUNY schools; it has received the backing of the New York Conference of Mayors. The bill been referred to the Senate Finance Committee, Companion legislation has been introduced in the state assembly.

The Oneonta Police Department announced the arrests of 3 juveniles, in connection with the vandalism at Doc Knapp Field, Riverside Elementary School, the Swart –Wilcox House and a vehicle last weekend.  Police officials said the tips provided by the public led to these arrests.  All 3 suspects are under the age of 16, their identities will not be released, and the investigation is still continuing.

State Senator Tom Libous and Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger have reached a deal with Governor Andrew Cuomo to set aside $10 million in the 2014-15 State Budget to begin developing a $60 million School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy in Johnson City.

The school will eventually enroll 240 pharmacy students, as well as dozens of professors and support staff, and more researchers as pharmaceutical innovations come along.  The Governor will reveal more details of the plan this week in his Executive Budget Proposal.
Oneonta police are investigating acts of vandalism Saturday night.  Police reported that the third base dugout at the Doc Knapp Field was set on fire, and the Swart-Wilcox House, Riverside Elementary School and a vehicle were vandalized with graffiti.  The fire was reported at around 7:20 Saturday night, anyone with information is asked to contact police at 432-1111.
