Joe Angelino is a big winner in the 122 State Assembly Republican Primary yesterday, winning with 75% of the vote, he will face Democrat Richard Shaw in the November General Election.  In Other races, Joe Biden wins the state Democratic Party Nomination for President, Claudia Tenney beats George Phillips for the Republican Nomination to take on incumbent Democratic Congressman Anthony Brindisi in the fall, Tenney lost the seat to Brindisi 2 years ago. Several roads remain closed due to flooding issues following yesterday & last Nights storms, State Highways 8 & 51 are closed, State DOT Region 9 Spokesman Dave Hamburg explains:

Chenango County Road 34 is closed from County Road 33 to Wells Road & County Road 37 is closed in the area of Phillips-Odell Road. In the town of Guilford, Stead Road, Crandall Road & Shumway Hill Road are closed. Otsego County Highway 18 from Gilbertsville to State Hwy 23 is also closed, County Officials & State DOT Officials remind motorists to never drive around barricades, as roads may be undermined below the road or along the edges.
Retiring Area Congressman Richard Hanna announced that he would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton over Republican businessman Donald Trump on Election Day in November. The 3-term Republican Congressman said that Donald Trump is "unfit to serve our party and cannot lead this country." Hanna said that he decided to take action this week after watching Trump criticize the Muslim American parents of a U.S. Army captain killed in Iraq. He called Trump a national embarrassment, adding that Trump should not be "the guy you want to have the nuclear codes"

Democratic Broome County Legislator Kim Myers has announced that she will be running for the 22nd District Congressional seat currently held by Congressman Richard Hanna. Myers will join Republicans Claudia Tenney and George Phillips as candidates for the seat; Congressman Hanna recently announced that he would not seek re-election.

State Troopers arrested 44-year-old Richard Phillips of Windsor,  for Petty Larceny. The arrest resulted from a complaint at a market in Kirkwood,  Phillips was arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
