State DEC & State Department of Health issued an updated Air Quality Health Advisory for fine particulate matter for Today, due to the statewide impact of smoke from wildfires in Canada. New Yorkers may see visible smoke and hazy skies across the state and spikes in smoke-related pollution. The updated advisory for the Eastern Lake Ontario, Central New York and Western New York regions are forecast to reach Very Unhealthy status, through midnight tonight. THE WEEKEND'S RACES INCLUDED GENERATION GAP, SCOUTS, SPRINTS, RELAYS AND THE 70 MILE ENDURANCE RACES FROM COOPERSTOWN TO BAINBRIDGE. THE COVETED TWO PERSON PRO RACE CROWN WAS WON THIS YEAR BY TRAVIS MECKLENBERG FROM MICHIGAN AND LOGAN MYNER OF TEXAS WITH THE WINNING TIME OF 7 HOURS 46 MINUTES AND 36 SECONDS...JUST 2 MINUTES AND 42 SECONDS OVER THE 2ND PLACE TEAM. Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 22 year old Isiah Eckler of Cooperstown, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation & Harassment, following an investigation into an incident in the Village of Cooperstown. Eckler was processed & was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending arraignment

The Tioga County Sheriff's Department responded to an
accident Sunday where a tractor-trailer crashed into a passenger vehicle driven
by 38 year old Darlene Allen of Sayre Pennsylvania on State Route 17 eastbound,
after Allen's vehicle struck a deer and slowed down. The tractor-trailer was
operated by 66-year-old Volodymyr Frolyak of Ontario, Canada, 7 year old
Zachary Allen died shortly after the collision, and 11 year old Trinity Allen
was taken to Packer Hospital and was then airlifted to Upstate Medical Center
in Syracuse, where she is in critical condition. 5 year old Nathan Slater was
taken to Packer Hospital and was treated & released. Darlene Allen was
taken to Packer Hospital and is in critical condition. The investigation is continuing.

The American Hockey League will still have a team located in Binghamton following the recent announcement that the Ottawa Senators were moving their franchise out of Binghamton to Belleville Ontario Canada. Mitchell said that it took almost a year to make the switch in franchises happen, the league board of Governors approved moving the Devils to Binghamton from Albany unanimously at their meeting Sunday.

State Police arrested 56-year-old Blair Williams of Toronto, Ontario Canada for forcible touching and unlawfully dealing with a child, in the village of Hancock. Williams is accused of forcibly touching a child less than 17 years old and also for giving the child alcoholic beverages.   Williams was arraigned in the Village of Hancock court and was remanded to the Broome County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond, pending court action at a later date.

The Ottawa Senators have announced their American Hockey League development team will be moving from Binghamton to Belleville, Ontario Canada beginning in the 2017-18 season. Binghamton Senators Executive Vice President Tom Mitchell said that the Ottawa decision to relocate has no impact on the future of the AHL's presence in the Southern Tier:

State Police investigated a car-pedestrian fatal motor vehicle accident Tuesday night on State Route 17 in the town of Hancock. The investigation revealed that the victim was 36 year old Sherylle Redulfin of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; she had been involved in a 1 car property damage accident and was standing in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle operated by 20 year old Laura Victor of Yorktown Heights. Redulfin was transported to Lourdes Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The investigation is continuing.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple tractor-trailers MVA on Interstate 81 south in the Town of Kirkwood Tuesday morning at about 5:40 AM.   Deputies arrived to find numerous vehicles on fire, blocking all lanes and with a significant diesel fuel spill. The Preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound tractor-trailer from Canada, hauling canned goods, rear-ended a car carrier loaded with new SUV’s, 3 of them burst into flames. The second tractor-trailer then veered to the left, striking a third tractor-trailer and sheared open the fuel tank. The first truck, operated by Andrew High out of Ontario, Canada, also caught fire and came to rest partially in the median of Interstate 81.  High suffered a head injury and was transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment; he was ticketed for Following Too Closely. The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed.  Interstate 81 South was closed for over 3 hours before opening two lanes of traffic.
