Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 22 year old Isiah Eckler of Cooperstown, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation & Harassment, following an investigation into an incident in the Village of Cooperstown. Eckler was processed & was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending arraignment

Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced an arrest of a Walton residence on an Indictment Warrant issued by the Ontario County Superior Court. Deputies located 40-year-old Geoffrey Gould at his residence, he was arrested on the Indictment Warrant which was issued for 1 Count of Possessing Sexual Performance by a child less than 16 years of age. Deputies had transported Gould to Broome County where he was later turned over to members of the Canandaigua Police Department.
16 school districts were designated in some level of fiscal stress under State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's Fiscal Stress Monitoring System for the school year, up from 14 districts in fiscal stress the prior year, but still well below the 33 designated in stress in 2019. Increased temporary federal aid and growth in state aid have contributed to the declining number of school districts designated in fiscal stress. None of the School Districts in the WCDO listening area made the list this year.

President Biden approved Governor Hochul's request for a Major Disaster Declaration to provide federal assistance to communities impacted by flooding from heavy rainstorms across much of Upstate New York. The declaration releases critical federal assistance to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in Clinton, Dutchess, Essex, Hamilton, Ontario, Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties. These counties now have access to financial support for debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.

Eastern Meat Solutions, of Ontario, Canada, has issued a recall for over 40,000 pounds of raw, boneless pork products, that have been sold in New York State. The products are being recalled in New York State are labeled as "Park Street Deli" & they have an establishment number “EST. 4800” inside the USDA mark of inspection. THE 60TH RUNNING OF THE GENERAL CLINTON CANOE REGATTA WAS HELD THIS PAST MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. OVER 800 CANOE RACERS FROM 28 STATES AND CANADA PARTICIPATED IN THE REGATTA INCLUDING THE FAMOUS 70 MILER, WORLD'S LONGEST ONE DAY FLAT WATER RIVER RACE. TED KENYON FROM CONNECTICUT TOOK FIRST PLACE IN THE ONE MAN AMATUER 50 YEARS AND OLDER DIVISION WITH A TIME OF 9 HOURS 10 MINUTES AND 31 SECONDS. HE TOLD WCDO HOW MUCH HE AND OTHER PADDLERS MISSED THE RACE THE LAST TWO YEARS.

Former Assembly Republican Minority Leader Brian Kolb pleaded guilty Monday to driving while ability impaired, relating to an incident on New Year's Eve 2019 in Ontario County. Police reported that Kolb was behind the wheel when he crashed his state-issued vehicle went into a ditch, he blamed the crash on his wife. Kolb stepped down from the position of Assembly Minority Leader days later, he did not seek re-election to the Assembly in November 2020.

due to vaping-associated illness: an adult female in her 20’s in New York City
and an adult female in her 50’s from Ontario County. Governor Cuomo commented about the issue last

The Tioga County Sheriff's Department responded to an
accident Sunday where a tractor-trailer crashed into a passenger vehicle driven
by 38 year old Darlene Allen of Sayre Pennsylvania on State Route 17 eastbound,
after Allen's vehicle struck a deer and slowed down. The tractor-trailer was
operated by 66-year-old Volodymyr Frolyak of Ontario, Canada, 7 year old
Zachary Allen died shortly after the collision, and 11 year old Trinity Allen
was taken to Packer Hospital and was then airlifted to Upstate Medical Center
in Syracuse, where she is in critical condition. 5 year old Nathan Slater was
taken to Packer Hospital and was treated & released. Darlene Allen was
taken to Packer Hospital and is in critical condition. The investigation is continuing.

The State Department of Criminal Justice Services announced a Missing Child Alert, for a 1-year-old white/male from Ontario Countyhas been cancelled. Police said that 1-year-old GLENN NEWSWANGER; from Stanley NY, was found in Virginia with his father, 36 year old Leroy Newswanger. The investigation is continuing.

State Police arrested 59 year old Anthony Middletown of Cobourg, Ontario for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and other traffic violations, after a trooper saw Middletown using a cellphone while he was driving in the town of Conklin. Middletown had his li9cense suspended 12 times in New York on 11 different dates, he was arraigned in the town of Conklin Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail with no bail set. His next court date is pending.

Governor Cuomo is considering calling the legislature back to Albany for a special session, in order to appropriate funds for the communities that experienced flooding damage from Lake Ontario earlier this year. About 45 million dollars was already earmarked for those efforts, but new damage estimates suggest that more than 80 million dollars may be needed.

The American Hockey League will still have a team located in Binghamton following the recent announcement that the Ottawa Senators were moving their franchise out of Binghamton to Belleville Ontario Canada. Binghamton Senators executive Vice President or Operations Tom Mitchell commented at a press conference this afternoon:

The national weather service is reporting that today's snow event is being caused by lake effect snow. The effect from Lake Ontario today is stretching an unprecedented 450 miles.

State Police arrested 56-year-old Blair Williams of Toronto, Ontario Canada for forcible touching and unlawfully dealing with a child, in the village of Hancock. Williams is accused of forcibly touching a child less than 17 years old and also for giving the child alcoholic beverages. Williams was arraigned in the Village of Hancock court and was remanded to the Broome County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond, pending court action at a later date.

The Ottawa Senators have announced their American Hockey League development team will be moving from Binghamton to Belleville, Ontario Canada beginning in the 2017-18 season. Binghamton Senators Executive Vice President Tom Mitchell said that the Ottawa decision to relocate has no impact on the future of the AHL's presence in the Southern Tier:

Bill Samuels may run for lieutenant governor against Governor Cuomo’s pick, Kathy Hochul. Samuels is the son of Howard Samuels of Ontario County, who invented the Hefty bag and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 1974. Samuels himself ran for lieutenant governor in 2010, but dropped out and supported Cuomo’s choice, Robert Duffy. State Law dictates that lieutenant governor candidates can run independently in a primary, but they run jointly with the gubernatorial candidates in November elections.

New York environmental officials are looking for citizen scientists to help them assess water quality. The state DEC is recruiting volunteers to help with assessments of Lake Ontario and the Niagara, Genesee, Delaware, Hudson and Mohawk River watersheds. Data from the Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators project enhances the work of state scientists creating an inventory of water quality. Volunteer monitors visit stream sites once a year in the warmer months to collect samples. Training sessions are being held around upstate areas in May and June. State Police investigated a car-pedestrian fatal motor vehicle accident Tuesday night on State Route 17 in the town of Hancock. The investigation revealed that the victim was 36 year old Sherylle Redulfin of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; she had been involved in a 1 car property damage accident and was standing in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle operated by 20 year old Laura Victor of Yorktown Heights. Redulfin was transported to Lourdes Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The investigation is continuing.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple tractor-trailers MVA on Interstate 81 south in the Town of Kirkwood Tuesday morning at about 5:40 AM. Deputies arrived to find numerous vehicles on fire, blocking all lanes and with a significant diesel fuel spill. The Preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound tractor-trailer from Canada, hauling canned goods, rear-ended a car carrier loaded with new SUV’s, 3 of them burst into flames. The second tractor-trailer then veered to the left, striking a third tractor-trailer and sheared open the fuel tank. The first truck, operated by Andrew High out of Ontario, Canada, also caught fire and came to rest partially in the median of Interstate 81. High suffered a head injury and was transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment; he was ticketed for Following Too Closely. The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed. Interstate 81 South was closed for over 3 hours before opening two lanes of traffic.
