The Madison County District Attorney, State Police, University Police at SUNY Morrisville and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced that an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting on the SUNY Morrisville campus that left a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck back on November 3rd of 2025. The victim was not a student, and was taken to Upstate Medical Hospital for emergency surgery. A Madison County grand jury indicted 19 year old Kido Simon on 6 counts, including attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm. Simon was a student at SUNY Morrisville at the time of the shooting, he is being held at Madison County Jail on bail set at $1,000,000 cash, $1,500,000 bond and $2,000,000 partially unsecured bond. Simon’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 3 at the Madison County Courthouse. 1 other person is wanted in connection with this case who remains at large.

27 year old Delos Thurston of Clinton, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in US District Court to money order fraud. Thurston admitted that between April 2025 and January 2026, while he was employed as the Postmaster of the Morrisville Post Office, he fraudulently issued 179 money orders for his own benefit without paying for them, in the amount of $118,088.19 from the United States. Thurston is scheduled for sentencing on August 6, he faces a maximum term of 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years.

P.M. NEWS FRIDAY 11-7-25

State Police are continuing the investigation into a shooting on the SUNY Morrisville Campus Monday, where a 20 year old man who was not a student was shot in the neck. The victim was taken to a Syracuse area Hospital, no arrests have been made, The preliminary investigation into the shooting has determined that this was an isolated dispute between people who were familiar with each other. The investigation remains active, and State Police are working closely with our state and local law enforcement partners.

State Police responded to South Hall of the SUNY Morrisville Campus Monday afternoon at 3:45 pm, they found a 20-year-old male, who was not a student, with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, No other injuries were reported and a suspect has not been located, the investigation is continuing. New York Secretary of State Walter Mosley announced the groundbreaking of a $8.3 million boutique hotel in Norwich as part of the City’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative . The Principle Hotel will have 61 rooms and feature a rooftop lounge, restaurant and event room, The 12,000 square-foot property at 14-16 South Broad Street, was once part of the SUNY Morrisville campus. Arrested were 32 year old Sara Baker of Davenport, for murderous intent, 51 year old Jovanni Salinas of Orlando Florida for Murderous intent, & 30 year old Tyler Culver of Otego for Reckless Endangerment, Criminal possession of a weapon, Possession of a firearm with a previous conviction, & Loaded Firearm, all 3 are being held pending future court action.

A 17 year old from North Carolina was taken into custody after the Southern Tier SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the Town of Union. On Friday, Broome County Sheriff’s Office acted on information gathered by the US Marshal’s to apprehend a 17-year-old male, who is accused of killing 2 people in Mount Holly, North Carolina last month. The fugitive was at 122 Pierce Avenue, he was apprehended after Deputies executed a search warrant & he was taken into custody without incident.
