The Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced that Michael Collins takes over as the 19th manager in Binghamton team history. The Rumble Ponies open the 2026 season on the road against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday, April 3. The Ponies' home opener is on Tuesday, April 7 against the Somerset Patriots at 6:07 pm. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released the autopsy findings following the death of Chelsey Davis of Port Dickinson that occurred shortly after entering the Broome County Correctional Facility on October 8th. Davis’ cause of death was listed as “Chronic Alcohol Use with Hepatic Cirrhosis,” with contributing factors listed as “hemorrhaging pancreas and heart disease. The toxicology report found no alcohol or controlled substances in her system at the time of her death. Davis was remanded to the Correctional Facility by the Town of Chenango Court., after booking procedures, she received a full medical and substance abuse screening with Correctional Facility medical staff before being housed in the Medical Unit. Over the next several hours, Davis was seen by medical staff 2 additional times, she was not exhibiting any issues, 20 minutes after the third visit with medical staff, Davis experienced a medical emergency, staff administered CPR and a Defibrillator but were unable to revive her.

The manslaughter trial of former Marcy corrections officer Michael Fisher, ended today in Oneida County Court as Fisher has pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree reckless endangerment. Fisher was one of the corrections officers at Marcy Correctional facility accused in the death of inmate Robert Brook in December of 2024. Fisher faces sentencing on January 30th, where he is expected to receive a 6-month term in Oneida County Jail as part of the plea agreement.

The Binghamton Police Department announced the identification of the victim from the stabbing at the Salvation Army on Tuesday as 57 year old Kevin Ray of Endicott. Michael Brutvan was charged with 2nd degree murder for the death of Ray, police responded at about 5:15 PM to a report of a stabbing at the Salvation Army, Ray with stab wounds to his shoulder and neck and succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital..

4 more former Marcy correctional officers appeared in Oneida County Court Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the beating death of Robert Brooks in December. Michael Fisher, Michael Mashaw, Nicholas Gentile, and David Walters appeared to answer to plea deals, Gentile accepted his deal on the charge of attempted tampering of physical evidence, he is accused of cleaning up the area where Brooks was beaten, and failing to report it to authorities.

5 more corrections officers appeared in Oneida County Court on Wednesday to discuss plea offers related to the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks, at Marcy Correctional Facility in December, none of the 5 reached a decision regarding their offers. The delay was due to all officer's attorneys receiving new discovery information from the prosecution, necessitating more time for their clients to consider options. Nicholas Anzalone and Christopher Walrath, both charged with murder, are scheduled to return to court on May 14 and 19. David Walters, Michael Mashaw, and Michael Fisher, charged with manslaughter, will also be back in court on May 14.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 58 year old Frederick Clarkson of McDonough for Strangulation, Criminal Mischief, Assault and Menacing, following a Domestic Dispute. Clarkson is accused of causing physical injury, menaced the victim with a blunt object, strangled the victim and took the victim’s phone preventing them from calling 911. Clarkson fled the scene prior to Deputies arriving and was later located in the City of Norwich and was taken into custody without incident, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on no bail.
