The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced that 10 projects and individuals have been recognized with 2026 New York State Historic Preservation Awards. Locally, the MARK Project of Arkville, will receive the Joan K. Davidson Award, They have spent over 40 years advancing community revitalization in the central Catskills through collaborative, locally driven initiatives and becoming a model for community-based revitalization, uniting local leaders, residents, and funding partners, through initiatives in affordable housing, economic development, local MARK PROJECTfood systems, tourism, farming, civic planning, and downtown revitalization.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce announced their 2026 Annual Award Winners, the Business of the Year is Unalam, the Eugene A. Bettiol Jr. Distinguished Citizen is Jamie Reynolds, the Leadership Otsego Alumni is Allen Ruffles & the Volunteer of the Year is Adam Stoutenberg, they will be honored at the Chambers annual Dinner on May 14th.

State Police arrested 30 year old Mark Lunsford of Norwich for Attempted Assault & Criminal Mischief after Troopers were dispatched to a domestic dispute on County Road in the Town of Plymouth. Lunsford allegedly punched the victim & struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle, the fight was broken up by a 3rd party, Lunsford left the scene & was located in Norwich and arrested & was transported to the Chenango County Jail for Arraignment.

State Police arrested 23 year old Mark Allen of Fenton for Criminal Possession Marihuana. Allen was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by troopers for numerous traffic violations in the town of Windsor. An investigation revealed that Allen had approximately 100 grams of marijuana in his possession. Allen was released on tickets returnable to the town of Windsor Court on March 6, 2018.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball warns consumers not to consume The Maiden’s Creamery “Wild Meadow” raw goat milk cheese made by Mark Harvey, of South New Berlin, due to possible Listeria contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product, the label shows plant number 36-1315, with a code of 101. This product was sold at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, in late December and early January and at the Sunflower Natural Foods Market, Woodstock, starting on January 10th. THIS YEAR’S REGATTA FEATURED PADDLERS FROM 27 STATES AND 5 CANADIAN PROVINCES. NEARLY A THOUSAND PADDDLERS COMPETED OVER THE 4 DAY REGATTA.

A series of workshops will be offered to help area business owners and organization leaders with New York’s Consolidated Funding Application process. The workshops are sponsored by the MARK Project and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, they will be held at the Poppy’s in Downsville on June 7th, Delaware County e-Center in Delhi on June 8th, the Erpf Center in Arkville on June 9th, and at Hancock Town Hall on June 13th, all sessions will begin at 3:00 pm. 73-year-old Wilbur Allen of Mount Vision was pronounced dead at Bassett Hospital, following a farm accident in Edmeston. Allen was working with another man loading a farm tractor on a vehicle Tuesday evening at around 6:00 PM, Allen fell underneath & was struck by the vehicles, he was transported to Bassett hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Sidney Elks Lodge will host their annual Car Show behind the lodge on River Street in Sidney tomorrow. Car Show Organizer Mark Little comments:
