The Rock in the Park Toys for Tots fundraiser held August 10th at General Clinton Park was a big success, according to event co-organizer Jason Hall.

The event featured 3 live bands including former drummer for Lynyrd Skynryd, Artimus Pyle, who also donated one of a kind posters to auction off for the cause. Chenango County Toys for Tots organizer, Denis Rifanburg said this will help a lot of local children this year. Hall and his wife Erica are Bainbridge residents who formed the event to give back to their local community.

The New York State fair began yesterday in Syracuse. Highlights this year include new midway rides, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Luke Bryan and Toby Keith in concert, a performance by ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham, hot air baloon rides, The Neverless Nocks motorcycle exhibition and the Dairy Cow Birthing Center. THE ROCK IN THE PARK 2013 concert for Chenango County Toys for Tots will be held in General Clinton Park Saturday starting at noon, headlined by the Artimus Pyle Band, a Tribute to Ronnie Van Zandt & Lynyrd Skynyrd. Pyle told WCDO News that, as a former marine, he is proud to participate in the Toys for Tots campaign, and he is proud to present a band that pays tribute to the band he played drums for in their 70’s heyday:

State fair officials announced free concerts at the Great New York State Fair's Chevy Court stage this summer. George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic will performing on Friday, August 23rd; Styx will perform on Sunday, August 25th; Vince Gill on Wednesday, August 28th; O.A.R. on Saturday, August 31st; Dickey Betts, from The Allman Brothers Band, on Sunday, September 1st and the Happy Together Tour with performers from The Turtles, 3 Dog Night, Paul Revere & The Raiders and Gary Lewis, on Sunday, September 1st. Grandstand concerts at the State fair this year will include Carly Rae Jepsen, Reba McIntyre, Toby Keith and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Governor Cuomo today announced that Luke Bryan will be among several top entertainers to perform at the Great New York State Fair this summer. Bryan will perform Thursday, August 29th with opening act Thompson Square. Other State Fair acts at the Grandstand will include Toby Keith on Friday, August 23rd, Carly Rae Jepsen & Hot Chelle Rae on Saturday, August 24th, Reba McIntyre on Sunday, August 25th, Lynyrd Skynyrd on Monday, August 26th and Comedian Jeff Dunham on Tuesday, August 27th.
