The Binghamton Senators have partnered with the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier and "Do It For Daron" for the "Power to the Purple Night" on Saturday night when they host the Rochester Americans at 7:05 PM. All fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game in support of youth mental health. The event was created in honor of Daron Richardson, the 14-year-old daughter of B-Sens head coach Luke Richardson, who lost her life to suicide in November 2010. State police in Oneonta arrested 22-year-old Cassandra Richardson of Hartwick for criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marihuana. Richardson was found to unlawfully possessing prescription drugs and marihuana after being pulled over for using a cell phone while driving, she was issued tickets for Town of Oneonta Court on January 28th.

The Ottawa Senators announced today that they have signed Binghamton Senators head coach Luke Richardson to a one-year contract extension. Also receiving one-year extensions are assistant coaches Steve Stirling and Matt Meacham. Richardson led an inexperienced Binghamton team to a 44-24-1-7 record in his rookie season as a head coach, finishing fourth in the AHL's Eastern Conference.
