State Police arrested 31 year old Kerri Bunnelle of Little Falls for Vehicular Manslaughter, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle and Aggravated DWI, following the investigation into an August 4 accident last year old State Route 8 in New Berlin, that killed 43 year old Matthew Fredericks of Herkimer. Police stated that Bunnelle was the driver of a GMC Envoy that crossed over into a Ford Focus head-on driven by Fredericks, who did not survive the crash. Bunnelle’s blood alcohol content was .23% & she also did not possess a valid drivers license. Bunnelle was virtually arraigned in the town of Norwich court and released on her own recognizance. She will appear in the Chenango County Court at a later date.
The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce announced that due to the weather forecast, tomorrow morning's General membership meeting is rescheduled to next week Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:30 am at the back of Bob's Diner. More information is available at 967-8700.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation passed by the Legislature, to protect barbershops, beauty shops and salon service providers against individuals who steal their services. The new law will make it a class A misdemeanor, for those who fail to pay for services provided by a barbershop, salon, or beauty shop. Under previous law, an individual who knowingly failed to pay for those services was not subject to criminal prosecution, leaving certain small business owners at risk of financial loss with little recourse.

The 56th General Clinton Canoe Regatta was held over the Memorial Day weekend with over 1,000 paddlers participating. The popular 70 mile 2 person race was a close one, the team of Andy Triebold & Steve Lajoie won their 8th race by beating 2nd place finishers Serge Corbin & Guillaume Blaise by a little under 5 minutes, but the real excitement was the sprint to the finish for the 2nd place position, where Corbin & Blaise beat local pros Trever LeFever & Ben Schlimmer of Oneonta by 3 seconds. The 56th General Clinton Canoe Regatta was held this past Memorial Day Weekend; which featured the famous 70 mile races from Cooperstown to Bainbridge on Monday. In the 4 person class, the Michigan team of Bruce & Roxanne Barton, Tim Triebold & Jeff Kolka edged out the 2nd place team of Jeff Shultis, Bob Zaveral, Larry Harrison & Bob Wisse by just 15 seconds, Bruce Barton talked about the tough race:

Governor Cuomo announced more than $100 million in state funding to repave and enhance roadways impacted by the harsh weather this past winter. The projects will take place throughout the summer and into fall, and will be completed this year. Locally, $2.1 million will go to resurface Route 10 in the Town of Walton to the town of Hamden, $1.8 million will be used to resurface State Route 12 in Sherburne, $1.8 million will go to to resurface Route 28 from the Village of Andes line to the Little Delaware River, & $630,000 to resurface State Route 41 from Route 220 to the Cortland County line in Chenango County.

Upgrades have been completed at SUNY Oneonta, according to the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.  $2.2 million in improvements included replacing the roof at Huntington Hall, converting two bathrooms in Hulbert Hall into laundry rooms, giving a WiFi coverage boost to Wilber Hall, upgrading fire systems in Wilber, Little and Sherman Halls, and applying a new interior wall finish in Hayes Hall. The upgrades were part of $30 million in upgrades that were completed at SUNY campuses throughout the state within a 90-day period, so that they would be completed by the time students returned to school.

Governor Cuomo announced $14 million in Grants is available to protect soil and water resources on farms across New York State ram, to address water quality challenges on farms in watersheds across the State. The program complements the Governor's proposed $2 billion Clean Water Infrastructure Act of 2017, which would provide additional funding for source water quality protection initiatives, including projects to ensure proper management and storage of manure on farms across the State.
A new Siena research poll says Governor Andrew Cuomo's 2017 agenda is largely supported by New Yorkers. Cuomo maintains a 56 percent to 37 percent favorability rating, unchanged since late last year. His job performance rating stands at 45 percent approve, 53 percent disapprove -- also little changed from last month. Meanwhile, 47 percent of voters are ready to back the governor for a third term, a job Cuomo is seeking again next year.
The Harm Reduction Work Group is coordinating today's Medication Take Back Event. Residents are asked to remove outdated or unused prescription medications from their homes for safe disposal. The Ithaca Police Department is opening a homicide investigation after one of two Ithaca College students stabbed on the Cornell campus early Sunday morning, was pronounced dead at Cayuga Medical Center. 19-year-old Anthony Nazaire of Brooklyn was killed, a 2nd student was injured, and was treated and released from a Syracuse area hospital. The incident occurred at around 2:00 AM Sunday at the conclusion of a campus event, several altercations broke out as students left the hall, and police are looking at video recorded by witness on their phones.
The Maine-Endwell Little League Team beat South Korea, 2-1, to win the Little League World Series on Sunday, becoming the first US team to win the title since 2011 and the first team from New York to win since 1964. Maine-Endwell ended its perfect season 24-0. The Team will be welcomed back with a parade this morning at 11:15 a.m. starting at Hooper Road and Watson Boulevard, ending at the little league field at Struggle Road.

A Town of Plymouth resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on a Fugitive of Justice complaint for active Bench Warrant out of the Cleveland County Court in the State of Oklahoma. Deputies arrested 37-year-old Michael Lee Hall on the Fugitive of Justice complaint Hall was taken into custody and taken to the Town of Norwich Court. Hall was remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. He is to reappear in the Chenango County Court at a later date.

15 years after 9/11, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will pay tribute to baseball’s role in the healing process with a 6-month exhibit, & a special recognition during Hall of Fame Weekend.
