The Oneonta Common Council announced the appointment of Brian Knapp as the new Chief of the Oneonta Fire Department.  Knapp replaces interim chief Michael Mancini who was appointed following the retirement of Patrick Pidgeon in February.

The Delaware County Fair board is looking to hire someone to handle some of their expected garbage during Fair week, Spokesman Jason Craig explains:

Craig also announced that the Walton Police Department arrested 3 unidentified juveniles for damaging the Fair Secretary's Office; they will be hiring a company to come in & for clean-up & repairs.

State police arrested 37 year old Jason Knapp of Franklin for felony aggravated DWI with a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and leaving the scene of an accident after state police investigated a one car accident on State Highway 7 in Otego in which the driver fled the scene with a child.  An investigation determined Knapp was driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .14% and had his child in the car with him when he had the accident.  Knapp was issued tickets for Otego town court November 14th.

There are over 24,000 pending VA claims in the state and US Senator Charles Schumer wants to reduce those numbers.  Schumer said the DepartmeJason Knappnt of Defense and Veterans Affairs Administration health records systems don’t talk to one another and that is one reason for the slow processing of health claims.  Schumer is calling on the two federal agencies to create interoperable, electronic health records for service members to address the delays in processing vets’ disability and other benefits
