Officials at SUNY Broome have confirmed that freshman Miranda Gifford of Rome, has died from injuries she sustained in a car crash on State Route 12 in Oxford Monday. The Chenango County Sheriff's Office said Gifford veered in to oncoming traffic around 12:00 noon & struck a truck operated by Danny Hall of Barton. Gifford was extricated from her vehicle and airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse, where she died Wednesday afternoon. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Gifford was enrolled at SUNY Broome, they are offering counseling for students affected by Gifford’s death.
The Houston Astros are sending several items to the National Baseball Hall of Fame & museum, that were used their World Series championship. Artifacts donated by the Astros following Game 7 includes a Glove used by Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, a Jersey worn by Astros pitcher Justin Verlander in Game 6 & a Cap worn by Astros pitcher Charlie Morton in Game 7. The artifacts will be featured in the Autumn Glory exhibit, which will be on exhibit through the 2018 Postseason.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 25-year-old Justin Miranda of Livingston Manor Saturday, for DWI and Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content Greater than 0.08%. The arrest following an accident where a vehicle went off of the road and into a snow covered field in the Town of Delhi. Miranda is also accused of driving at speeds not reasonable or prudent, Miranda was released on appearance tickets and scheduled to appear before the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
