The Afton Village Board of Trustees will be holding a
special budget meeting workshop today, starting at 6:00 PM.  The Workshop will be held at the Bolster
Community Center at 105 Main Street, the main topic will be the water &
sewer budgets for the 2019-202 fiscal year.
The Chenango Arts Council
announced its annual Chenango Area Student Art exhibition on Friday, April 5th
at 5:30 pm, with an awards ceremony for 2 scholarships, the council’s Student
Art Show, and Artistic Discovery, where 6 entries will be submitted to
Congressman Anthony Brindisi’s office for a chance to appear in the 2019
Congressional Art Show in Washington, DC.
The exhibit will run through April 19th at the Council's Mariea Brown
and Raymond Loft Galleries at 27 West Main Street, in Norwich.  Interested students can call the Council at

seconds as the Cooperstown Boys Basketball team won their 1st state title in
program history at the Floyd L. Maines Arena in Binghamton yesterday.  The Hawkeyes Defeated Middle Early College, a
Charter School from Buffalo 71-61 in the title game, Cooperstown’s Jack Lambert
was named tournament MVP after scoring a combined 76 points in 2 games at the
Final 4, John Kennedy was named to the All-Tournament Team for
Cooperstown.  The win came 1 day after a

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 31 year old Jessie Bolster and 40 year old Roy Bolster of Harpursville after they were stopped in Hancock for Traffic infractions. Jessie Bolster was operating the motor vehicle while having several active suspensions; Roy Bolster was wanted on an active arrest warrant from Tompkins County Family Court. A search of the vehicle revealed the pair were in possession of Oxycodone & bags of crystal methamphetamine. Both were charged with 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Jessie Bolster was additionally charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. Both were arraigned & were remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash/$20,000 secured bond.

Hartwick College will host a Rural Prosperity Forum on Infrastructure, presented by the US Department of Agriculture Rural Development Office and Congressman John Faso. The Topics of discussion will include innovative partnerships that have been developed to overcome challenges in rural areas and exploring best practices to build and support economic development. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday at the Shineman Chapel House on the Hartwick College campus, the public is welcome to attend.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators arrested 30-year-old Scott Hanrahan of Deposit, 29-year-old Justin Crandall of Sidney, and 27-year-old John Bolster of Hancock, for promoting contraband within the Delaware County Correctional Facility. All 3 are incarcerated at the County Jail on unrelated charges, they are accused of possessing prescription medication prescribed to another inmate, they were charged with 1 count each of Promoting Prison Contraband, they face arraignment on the new charges in the Town of Delhi Court at a later time.

The Chairs & Game tables will be auctioned off during the General Clinton Canoe Regatta on Saturday May 27th at 2:00 PM prior to the annual Regatta Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony; the money raised will be used for future Jericho Arts Council events.
Walton Police arrested 3 Walton residents Saturday on various drug charges, following a 6-month investigation. Arrested were 44-year-old Sueann Maler, 34-year-old James Laughman & 32-year-old Jessica Bolster, for criminal sale of a controlled substance. The investigation was wrapped up with sealed indictments being handed down by a Delaware County Grand Jury last week, all 3 were sent to Delaware County jail pending future court action.

Governor Cuomo and state leaders attended the 3rd Beer Wine & Cider Summit today in Albany, the governor said that changes in antiquated laws could help get upstate product into the New York City Bars, restaurants & Hotels:

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced agreements with Auburn Community Hospital in Auburn and Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital, in Binghamton that will bolster their language assistance and financial aid services. Both hospitals serve increasingly diverse communities Schneiderman said that implementing and revisiting language assistance and financial aid policies would work to ensure the hospital’s services remain available to individuals regardless of their English proficiency or ability to pay.

The Greater Afton Chamber of Commerce will hold their next meeting today at 7:00 PM in the Susquehanna Room of the Jack Bolster Community Center in Afton. John Graham from the Dispute Resolution Center of Chenango, Delaware and Otsego Counties will be speaking about the process and benefits of mediation in resolving business and personal disputes.
