More than 50 Hall of Famers are scheduled to be in Cooperstown to induct the Class of 2017 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum during Hall of Fame Weekend. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, honoring Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, Baseball Executive John Schuerholz and former Milwaukee Brewers Owner & Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, will be held Sunday at 1:30 PM at the Clark Sports Center.
38 Special will take the stage at Tioga Downs Casino tonight at 8:00 pm, sponsored by Casino Chairman Jeff Gural and his wife Paula. Originally, the benefit concert was scheduled Saturday, July 1st but cancelled due to inclement weather. Remaining tickets are on sale for $15 to the general public through Ticketmaster or at Tioga Downs Gift Shop. All additional $15 tickets will be matched personally by the Gurals, with all proceeds benefiting the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group.

The National Baseball Hall of fame announced the election of Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, the Class of 2017 is now set. The inductees will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 30th at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown along with Today’s Game Era electees John Schuerholz and Bud Selig, who were elected in December…2017 Ford C. Frick Award winner Bill King and 2017 Spink Award winner Claire Smith will be honored during Induction Weekend at the Awards Presentation on Saturday, July 29 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.

A winning candidate did not emerge from the Hall of Fame balloting conducted by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America with 569 ballots cast, none of the 37 candidates gained mention on the required 75% for election to the Hall of Fame. Craig Biggio, received 388 votes, 39 less than needed, followed by pitcher Jack Morris with 385, Jeff Bagwell with 339, Mike Piazza with 329 & Tim Raines with 297. The Induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 28th at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, honoring umpire Hank O’Day, old-time New York Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert and 19th-century player Deacon White.
