The Broome County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in finding 16 year-old Elena Moose of Port Crane, who has been missing since Tuesday.  Moose is described to be a white female with blue eyes and brown hair.  She is 5 foot 4 inches and 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red jacket and leggings.  The Sheriff's Office believes that she may be in the Jamestown or Ogdensburg areas.  Anyone with information should call 778-8861.

State Police at Oneonta are currently investigating 2 instances of an individual impersonating a police officer in Otsego County.   The two incidents both involve a person impersonating a police officer conducting traffic stops in late March, the suspect asked the purpose of the motorists’ travel and warned they would be fined for violating the “travel ban” if they were caught on the road again.  Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police in Oneonta at 432-4844 or 432-3211.

State lawmakers are considering increasing penalties for those who cause harm to police animals. The proposed legislation would create a new felony offense for intentionally causing serious physical injury to a police work dog or police work horse; it would also increase the offense of killing a police work dog or police work horse to a class D felony. The bill is named Mitchell's Law for a Jamestown Police Department German shepherd that suffered life-threatening injuries while apprehending a suspect in a slaying last November. The bill has passed through a Senate committee and has been added to the upcoming floor calendar.

State Police arrested 44-year-old John Shapley of Afton for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with passengers less than 16 years old and with a B.A.C. result of .18%, as well as other traffic violations. Troopers responded to a 911 report of an accident on Oak Hill Road in the Town of Afton, Shapley is accused of driving while highly intoxicated, with his two children as passengers, he crossed into the opposing lane and caused another driver to swerve off the roadway, he then struck a mailbox and continued to drive to his home nearby. Shapley was arraigned in the Town of Afton and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond.

The FBI has ranked the cities of new York state, in regards to their crime rates, amount of law enforcement, paroled Sex Offenders and other factors, to determine the most dangerous cities to live in. Niagara Falls was named the most dangerous City in New York, followed by Schenectady, Newburgh, Rochester, Gloversville, Buffalo, Jamestown, Albany, then and Binghamton & Auburn.
