Broome County will host the New York State Public High School Athletic Association baseball championships through 2029. The Games Will Be Played at such venues as Union- Endicott High School, Mirabito Stadium and Binghamton University for semifinal and championship match-ups.

The State Division of Criminal Justice Services announced that 34 year old Chelsea Nicholson of Oneonta is missing, she is described as a white female, 5' 7", 220 pounds with brown hair & Green eyes, she is considered an endangered adult who may be in need of medical attention. She was last seen driving a 2013 red Kia SUV with New York license plate LGJ-4364 on Franklin Street in the city of Oneonta, at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10. Chelsea wears glasses and was last seen wearing all black clothing. If seen, call 911 or the Oneonta City Police Department (607) 432-1111. Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Brittney Hall of Harpursville, for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, following a traffic stop in the Town of Union. Hall faces court action on the charges at a later date.

The State DEC announced that small game hunting and furbearer trapping seasons for the 2025–26 license year are now open or will open soon across New York. Most small game and furbearer seasons open between Sept. 1 and Nov. 1, depending on species and zone. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held in Norwich this Saturday, in the East and West Parks downtown. Children up to age four will be let into West Park at 10 a.m. to search for eggs, and children between the ages of five and eight will be let into East Park at 10:30 a.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Governor Cuomo signed 6 Bills
yesterday to help ensure first responders and public sector officers and employees
who developed a qualifying health condition as a result of their response to
9/11 rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts at World Trade Center sites receive
the pension and health benefits they deserve.
The Governor posthumously awarded the Public Service Medal to Det. Luis
Alvarez, an NYPD Detective and 9/11 First Responder who fought to make the 9/11
Victim Compensation Fund permanent.

food pantries and the food pantry in Hunt Union, the annual Picnic will be held
at the Academic quad.

A residence in Otego was completely destroyed by fire Monday
morning in Otego.  Troopers were
dispatched to a fire on County Road 5 in the town of Otego at approximately
1:09 AM, a 76 -year-old male escaped but did not have a way of calling for
help.  A passerby called 9-1-1, The man
was taken to A.O Fox Hospital for exposure. Otego Fire Department, Wells Bridge
Fire Department and West Oneonta Fire Department all responded to the
scene.  Members from the Otego Fire
Department are working with county fire investigators to determine the cause of
the fire.

State Senator Jim Seward announced that the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction will be at SUNY College in the Hunt Union Ballroom today. Seward is a member of the task Force; they will be getting input regarding the heroin epidemic, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. The roundtable forum is one of several being conducted around the state to solicit input and develop recommendations for legislative action.
