The NBT Bank Free Thursdays concert series will kick off
today with the Keeshea Pratt Band from Houston Texas.   The concerts will continue at 7:00 PM each
Thursday through August 29 in East Side Park in Norwich.

Governor Cuomo announced that a 30-member State Incident Management Team is heading to Texas today to support the response and recovery efforts in the wake of the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. The 30-member, multi-agency Team has been requested by the State of Texas Division of Emergency Management and the Texas A&M Forest Service to assist state and local officials with operational coordination, obtaining information, mapping, and logistical support for ongoing response operations.

The Salvation Army is collecting funds locally to assist those in Texas dealing with the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, Local Spokesperson Marie Cole Explains:

Cole said that the Salvation Army collections in Sidney & Walton would be today & tomorrow from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Delaware Valley Humane Society & the Penguin Ice Cream & Snack bar of Masonville will hold their 2nd Annual "Licks & Licks" fundraiser At the Penguin on State Route 8 in Masonville today from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Humane Society Director Erin Johnson told WCDO News that they are also accepting donations at the shelter & in Oneonta, to assist with the Houston Texas shelter dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey:

Governor Cuomo today announced the deployment of additional New York Air National Guard resources to assist in the Hurricane Harvey response in Texas. A search and rescue aircraft carrying 15 more Airmen from the 106th Rescue Wing is arriving at Fort Hood in Texas this afternoon, & a Regional Medical Plans Officer will depart for Texas on Thursday to assist with the evacuation and transportation of patients from area hospitals.

Those who are looking to donate to help with the relief efforts, following Hurricane Harvey's devastation in Texas, The American red Cross of taking donation in order to continue helping those dealing with the ongoing storm. Donations can be sent through redcross.org.

For the 3rd time in the past 4 NFL seasons, football goal posts manufactured by Sportsfield Specialties in Delhi, will make an appearance framing the playing field at the Super Bowl. This year’s game will be hosted at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday. Company officials reported that their goal posts were also used at MetLife Stadium in 2014 when the Seattle beat Denver & again in 2015 when the New England beat Seattle at University of Phoenix Stadium & also in 2008, when Sportsfield's goal posts were 1st used in a Super Bowl as the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots.
