The FBI announced that 44 year old Brent Trimbell of Hobart was arrested Sunday evening for sexual exploitation of a child. Trimbell is accused of exchanging sexually explicit messages with a female child victim, persuading her to create and send him videos of her engaged in sexually explicit conduct, having sexual contact with the victim at least 3 times and sending the victim sexually explicit videos. Trimbell was charged by state authorities with state sex offenses, but last week he was released on bail. If convicted, Trimbell faces 15 to 30 years in Jail, a term of supervised release of at least 5 years to life after serving a prison term, register as a sex offender, pay a fine of $250,000, forfeiture of property used to commit the offenses, and he would have to pay restitution to the victim. FBI officials worked with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office, Trimbell was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending further proceedings.
State Police are investigating a death of a 16-year-old female following a medical emergency on Saturday, a Trooper responded to a residence on State Route 41 in McGraw, for an unresponsive juvenile, she was unconscious & CPR was already in progress, she was taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center & was pronounced deceased a short time later. An investigation by the State Police BCU is ongoing, more information will be released following an autopsy.

State Police released more details on the April 11th crash that killed Whitesboro Police Officer Kevin Crossley. Troopers reported that an eyewitness and a surveillance video showed Officer Crossley made a U-turn, his patrol vehicle then collided with an SUV driven by Nicole Moshier-Harris. Officer Crossley's vehicle was travelling at 74 miles per hour, and his actions were consistent with pursuing an unidentified violator. The coroner’s report determined that Officer Crossley's death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries & he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Moshier-Harris was issued a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way, no additional charges are anticipated.

NYSEG President & CEO Carl Taylor announced a $400,000 economic development grant for Binghamton University this afternoon. The latest award brings the total up to $1.2 million in funding which NYSEG has granted to the university, to help support 3 projects under the company’s economic development electric infrastructure programs. The goal is to help offset electric-related infrastructure improvements as well as to research, develop and promote energy-efficient systems.

State Police and the United States Postal Inspection Service announced the arrest of 22 people and the seizure of drugs, weapons, cash and one vehicle resulting from a joint drug investigation throughout Central New York. “Operation Pandora’s Box,” targeted drug suppliers from New York and around the nation -- and even overseas -- who are using the U.S. Mail to ship narcotics and synthetic drugs, along with other contraband, into the region. Among those arrested locally, 23-year-old Erica Cirzeveto of Binghamton, 24-year-old Nefateia Brink of Binghamton, both on a variety of drug charges, and 37-year-old Terry Davis of Oneonta, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies participated in an aggressive driving enforcement detail last Friday, funded through the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, they arrested a Walton man in the Village of Franklin. Deputies observed & stopped a vehicle for following another vehicle too closely, they determined that 23-year-old Mark O’Neill of Walton was impaired by drugs; he was arrested and transported to the Village of Sidney Police Department where Deputies were assisted by a Sidney Police Department Drug Recognition Expert. O’Neill was charged with DWI, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Following Too Closely. He was issued tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Franklin Court on June 25th.

The Delaware County Fair Board announced that country music star Easton Corbin, with special guest Danielle Bradbery will perform in concert on Saturday August 16, 2014 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Walton.   Easton has had a string of hits on the country charts; Bradbery charmed her way into the national spotlight during Season 4 of  “The Voice”.  Pre-sale TRACK ONLY ticket vouchers are now available for $30 at Hodges Sales and Service on Delaware Street in Walton today through December 24th.
The Oneonta Police Department arrested 57 year old Lafayette Alexander of Hollis Points, New York for 1st degree Forgery, 2 counts of 1st degree Identity Theft, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Falsifying business records, Attempted Identity Theft & Attempted Grand Larceny.  Police were notified by NBT bank personnel of a fraudulent business loan application,  Alexander allegedly used another person’s name, social security number, fake drivers license and fraudulent tax returns as well as other questionable information.  Alexander was arraigned and held on $30,000 cash bail, or $60,000 bond pending future court action.

90-year-old Betty Clark of Oneonta was hospitalized for suffering burns & smoke inhalation at a fire at 348 Chestnut Street in Oneonta Thursday morning.  Clark was taken to Fox Hospital in Oneonta, after she unsuccessfully attempted to rescue her pets.  Investigators determined that cardboard boxes were too close to a gas range in the kitchen, they caught fire at around 9:20 Thursday morning, and passing motorists reported the blaze and helped bring Clark to safety.  Firefighters from Oneonta, West Oneonta, Otego Franklin, Worcester & Sidney responded.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 33-year-old Nathan Diamond of the town of Butternuts on an active arrest warrant.   Diamond was arrested by deputies following his release from the Chenango County Jail on unrelated charges, he was turned over to the Binghamton Police on a warrant for Possession of a Forged instrument and Falsifying Business records.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office & State Police arrested a Town of Plymouth man on an active Bench Warrant.  33-year-old Todd Jackson was wanted on a Bench Warrant from the Town of Norwich Court for Failure to enroll in Chenango County Family Treatment Court. Jackson was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court, he was released following enrollment into Family Treatment Court.

Governor Cuomo today announced that $13.5 million is available through the NY-Sun initiative for projects aimed at reducing the overall cost of installing solar electric systems and streamlining the inspection and permitting process.  $10 million will support efforts to lower the overall cost of the systems and $3.5 million will fund a 2-year statewide effort to educate local officials and first responders.
