Bainbridge Guilford Superintendent Tim Ryan released a statement about an incident Friday evening as B-G was hosting a football game with Walton. During the game administration was notified that a student was overheard saying he had a gun at the game, law enforcement was notified, the student was located and was taken away from the game & Staff remained with the student until law enforcement arrived and took over the situation. Ryan stated that there was no fight at the game and there was no gun, there was no need to suspend or cancel the game or send everyone home. Law enforcement continued to meet with the student and his family, they left the premises and law enforcement officers remained at the game until the conclusion.

Broome County Sheriff Road Patrol deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident involving 2 vehicles Early Sunday morning on Morgan Road in the Town of Binghamton. Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar identified the deceased as 29 year old Charles Burrell of Conklin, who was ejected from 1 of the vehicles, he said that the operators of the 2 vehicles were engaged in a continuing dispute over women & narcotics, they engaged in a road rage incident that ended with the fatality. 20 year old Cody Diffendorf of Kirkwood & 26 year old James MacDowall of Binghamton were each charged with 2nd degree manslaughter, both are in the custody of the Broome County Correctional facility pending future court action.

The Delaware County Planning Board announced that they plan to develop a Strategic Comprehensive Plan, to guide future growth, development, and preservation in the County. Fisher Associates will lead the planning process and public engagement efforts. Public Input Sessions will be today from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM at the Hobart Community Center & Tuesday, September 17 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Walton Fire Hall, on West Street. The input gathered from the public survey and during these initial input sessions will be reviewed by Delaware County Planning and Fisher Associates, followed by additional opportunities for public review and comment.

Norwich Police Department & the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office apprehended 1 of Pennsylvania’s Most wanted absconders. 31 year old Edwin Rodriguez of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania charged with being a Fugitive From Justice, Norwich Police received tips from City residents that Rodriguez had been hiding in Norwich and was planning to flee the area to an undisclosed location on Saturday, Rodriguez was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, he was wanted in Pennsylvania for Rape by Forcible Compulsion & Assault charges, Rodriguez was arraigned and held without bail, pending extradition back to Pennsylvania.

The Unatego School District budget is up for a public vote tomorrow, voters will be deciding on the proposed budget, 3 seats on the School Board & 1 Proposition, according to Superintendent Dr. Dave Richards:

U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro announced his constituent service team will hold mobile office hours from 11:00am to 1:00pm Today, at the Bainbridge Town Hall, constituents will be able to connect with representatives from Rep. Molinaro's office to share comments and resolve issues they are having with federal agencies like the VA, IRS, and Social Security Administration.

State Police arrested 29 year old Reinaldo Perez-Granado of Glendale, for Unlawful Surveillance, the investigation revealed that while at Chenango Valley State Park, Perez Granado entered a bathroom, reached over the stall and took photos of the child while a child was changing, the child alerted their parent and provide a detailed description of the man, the parent alerted a lifeguard, Park Rangers then State Police. Perez Granado was arrested and was processed, he was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 61 year old John Brooking of Pennsylvania for Criminal trespass & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. On July 7th, Deputies received a complaint of a trespass in the Town of Sidney, Brooking had refused to leave a property and residence after an altercation, Brooking was arrested, & was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Sidney court at a later date.

The Guilford Town Board will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 PM tonight at the Guilford Town Hall at 223 Marble Road, for the purpose of hearing public comments on the proposed Unsafe Structures Law. Copies of the proposed local law are available in the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours, as well as on the town website.

Yesterday was Election Day, The Delaware County Board of Elections did not announce a winner for the Sidney Town Supervisor’s race, between write-in candidates Eric Wilson & Kevin Greene, Officials told WCDO News it will take days or maybe even weeks to count & certify all of the write in votes across all 19 towns from this year's elections, there were 552 write in Votes Tuesday in Sidney Town Supervisors race. The winners for the Sidney Town board were Frank Selleck & Bill Heath, in the Town of Meredith, Town Council winners were John Janiszewski & David Briggs, the Town of Franklin Board seats go to Garret Sitts & Heather Ross, the town of Middletown Supervisor Will be Patrick Davis, the Town of Tompkins Clerk was Michelle Phoenix, in the Town Of Delhi, the supervisor will be Mark Tuttle, the Town Council winners were Margaret Baldwin & Matthew Kryston & the Walton Town Supervisor will be Joseph Cetta. In Chenango County, Sheriff Ernest Cutting was re-elected, The County Clerk winner is Brian Wessels, & the winners for the Norwich City Council are Fred Gee, William Loomis, Tom Revoir & Barry Christopherson. Across New York State, voters rejected the propositions, amending the apportionment and redistricting process, eliminating the 10 day advance voter registration requirement, & authorizing the no excuse absentee balloting. Voters approved the proposition to the Right to clean air, clean water and a healthy environment.

The Town of Oneonta will hold a public budget hearing tonight at 7:00 PM at the town hall in West Oneonta, the town board will also discuss a law to over-ride the State Tax cap.

On October 21st, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at 68 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on State Highway 8 in Masonville. 52-year-old Jack Mason of Whitney Point, was stopped, his license was revoked due to failure to answer a prior summons from the Sidney Town Court. Mason was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Failure to Use a Turn Signal, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Stop Lamps. Mason was later released on traffic tickets to Masonville Town Court at a later date.

Pessagno said that they had to plan for smaller attendance at the Concert & at other events throughout the week, as they were planning this event earlier in the year when the COVID 19 pandemic still had high infection rates; they hope to be back to normal attendance figures in 2022.

A New Jersey fugitive was arrested June 19th by Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies following an incident in the Town of Colchester.  Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in the East Branch Delaware River near the Corbett bridge, the Investigation revealed that a New Jersey couple were attempting to drive their pickup across the river when it became partially submerged and disabled in deep water, also a passenger, 30 year-old Brian Olin, of New Jersey was wanted by authorities in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a felony drug charge in September, 2019.  Olin was charged with being a fugitive from justice and was later arraigned and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail pending his extradition by New Jersey.

Otsego County Sheriff's deputies arrested 36 year old Thomas Palmatier of South New Berlin, for Fleeing an Officer in Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Unregistered Vehicle & several other similar charges, following a recent traffic stop in the Town of Pittsfield.   Palmatier allegedly drove off from the traffic stop while emergency lights were activated; he was issued appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pittsfield Court at a later date.

Otsego County Sheriff Deputies arrested 48 year old Brett Brooks of New Berlin after providing Deputy’s with false information of his identity in the Town of Pittsfield on June 13th.  Brooks was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped; he had an active bench warrant issued out of Chenango County & gave a false name to law enforcement. Brooks was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pittsfield Court & was turned over to the custody of Chenango County Sheriff Office for the warrant.

The State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet on Thursday at 10:30 AM in Albany, the meeting will be available for public viewing at dps.ny.gov, The Siting Board agenda includes the Application of High Bridge Wind, LLC for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to Construct a Wind Powered Electric Generating Facility in the Town of Guilford.

Congressman Anthony Brindisi today announced $800,000 in CARES Act Recovery Assistance Grants for New York’s 22nd District.   Mohawk Valley Economic Development District & the Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board each get $400,000, the funds will be used to update local economic development plans & strengthen community assistance programs.

The Village of Unadilla Board Meeting is tonight at 6:30 PM at the Firehouse 77 Clifton St. This meeting will be open to the public- social distancing will be observed and masks will be required.

Delaware County received 1 new case of COVID-19 Monday and is reporting 1 additional recovery. The known active cases in the County remains 4, the total number of positive cases is 87, with 31 people under quarantine, 4 people are isolated at home,  none are in the hospital, 6 people have died and 77 have fully recovered.

The murder & arson fire cover-up case of 16 year old Jeffrey Franklin of the town of Guilford, will be featured on the Investigation Discovery Channel tonight at 10:00 PM on the program "The Murder Tapes” Franklin was the disabled teenager killed by his parents Ernest & Heather Franklin, who then tried to cover up the boy's death by setting the family residence on fire, closely echoing the plot of the movie "Manchester By The Sea", the incident occurred back on February 28th 2017.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic
dispute in the Town of Walton last Friday.
Deputies arrested 32 year old Heather Norton of Walton for Harassment,
Endangering Welfare of Child and Unlawful Imprisonment, for allegedly
restraining a person while acting in a manner likely to be injurious to a child
less than 17 years of age.  Norton was
arraigned in the Hamden Town Court and released on her own recognizance pending
her appearance in the Town of Walton Court on a later.

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors acted on a measure
last week regarding the Muddy River Brewing Company in the town of Sidney.  Sidney Town Supervisor Gene Pigford said that
the town zoning also has to change in order for Muddy River to continue:

Pigford said that a Final Text Revision will lead to a
roundtable discussion by the Sidney Town Planning Board & the Zoning Board
of Appeals, then the measure goes back to the County Board, a public hearing
will be necessary, then a final vote, Pigford said that he hopes to have all
that concluded by the end of this year.

Chenango County
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 50 year old Joseph Ali of Burlington Flats for DWI,
after an investigation into a check the welfare complaint was received in the
Town of Norwich.   Ali was arraigned in
Norwich Town Court and is to reappear on September 19, 2019 at 2:00pm.

A Town of New Berlin
resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for 3 counts of
Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment.  Deputies arrested 35 year old Renee
Zbdydniewski of New Berlin resident after a Domestic Dispute in the Town of
Guilford.  She is accused of assaulting a
Juvenile while her 2 children were present, she was arraigned in the Town of
Oxford court and released on her own recognize & will appear in Town of
Guilford court on a later date.

The
Town of Guilford board will hold a meeting tonight, following Tuesday’s action
by the Chenango County planning Department’s 239 Subcommittee regarding the
town’s Renewable Energy Law, Town Supervisor George Senek comments:

New
Yorkers who were molested or sexually abused as children will get their day in
court, starting today with the ability to e-file claims.  Hundreds of lawyers representing victims
starting filing early this morning, with about 200 child sexual abuse lawsuits
filed by 6:00 AM, the number had almost doubled by 12:00 Noon.   The window to file was created by the state
Legislature’s adoption in January of the Child Victims Act, which makes it
easier for accusers to seek criminal and civil sanction of their abusers.

State
Police at Binghamton responded to a 1-car motor vehicle accident on State Route
7 in the town of Colesville Tuesday.  The
investigation revealed that the vehicle operated by 29-year-old Ashley
Wolfanger of Binghamton, exited the roadway and struck at tree, killing
32-year-old passenger Lance Weiss of Harpursville.  Weiss was pronounced deceased on the scene
and Wolfanger was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital where she is listed
in stable condition.   The investigation
is on-going.

The Chenango County Planning
board 239 subcommittee approved a measure on the town of Guilford’s Renewable
energy law this morning, Town of Guilford Supervisor & County Planning
Board member George Senek comments:

Senek said that the next
Guilford town board meeting will begin at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the town hall,
where the board will review the SEQR environmental Application; they may act on
it, and possibly act on the Renewable Energy Law.  The Energy law proposal follows a proposal by
Calpine to erect up to 30 wind turbines in the town of Guilford.  A Group known as the Concerned Citizens of
Guilford opposes the plan and is questioning the legality of the process the
town is using with its renewable energy law.

City Police in Norwich are investigating the vandalism of a
syringe drop box near the Eaton Center in downtown Norwich.  Police began the investigation following a
post of the broken dropbox with needles on the ground, on social media
Monday.  So far, no arrests have been
announced.

Delaware County Public Health announced that a raccoon in
the Town of Bovina has tested positive for rabies. The rabid raccoon exposed 1
dog that was not up to date on its rabies vaccinations; Public Health is
working with the dog owner and Town of Bovina officials to implement six-month
quarantine on the dog. The Remaining 2019 rabies clinics in Delaware County are

19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado will be holding a
town hall meeting today at Awestruck Ciders at 8 Winkler Road in Sidney.  The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30
PM.

The Sidney Village Planning Board's regularly scheduled
meeting for Today at 6:00 PM has been cancelled.  The next meeting will be held Thursday
September 5, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of
Education Meeting today in the District Conference Room at the Jr-Sr High
School at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

The Guilford Town Board meeting last night drew a standing
room only crowd of citizens, who wanted answers to their questions about the proposed
High Bridge Wind Farm project by Calpine, Priscilla Welden of the Concerned
Neighbors of Guilford commented:

The Proposal calls for up to 30 large Wind Turbines to be
placed around the town of Guilford to generate sustainable energy, the project
will also require state approval.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40-Year-Old
Robert Decker of Sidney on an active Bench Warrant from Town of Sidney Court
for failure to appear on previous charges of Menacing and Harassment.  Decker was arraigned in the Town of Sidney
Court, and he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on
$1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.  Decker
is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Sidney Court at a later date, Deputies
were assisted by the Village of Sidney Police Department.

State Police arrested 57 year old Edward Fernly of Oneonta,
on 5 counts of petty larceny.  Fernly is
accused of stealing items from Lowe's in Oneonta, worth about $930.  Fernly was released on appearance tickets for
Oneonta Town Court at a later date.

Organizers of Woodstock 50 have
submitted their 3rd application to have the event held at Vernon Downs in
Oneida County.  Previous applications
were turned down due to the closeness in time of the scheduled event, and for
the lack of planning for law enforcement & first responders to be on hand
to sufficiently handle the demands of a large 3 day music festival.  A previous attempt to hold the festival on
the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock festival at Watkins Glen
international fell apart last month.

25 year old John Mehne of Florida pleaded not guilty
Wednesday to a Broome County grand jury's indictment.  Mehne was arrested June 4 after he allegedly
crashed a stolen car on I-81, tried to escape by jumping on 2 other vehicles,
fled in to the woods, then Police agencies launched a manhunt.  The grand jury indicted Mehne for Grand
Larceny and Menacing; he was arraigned on the latest charges & was remanded
back to the Broome County Jail.  Another
Grand Jury presentation is expected, as the Broome County District Attorney's
Office continues to work with State Police on additional charges relating to
the series of incidents involving Mehne on June 4th.

Jury selection began today in Chenango County Court & the trial of Heather Franklin is expected to begin tomorrow.  Franklin is accused of planning the murder of her son Jeffrey Franklin with her Husband Ernest Franklin, and covering up the crime by setting the family house on fire in the town of Guilford in March of 2017.  Ernest Franklin was found guilty by a jury last month for his role in the crime; he faces sentencing at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36 Year old
Philip Albergo of Meredith for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor
Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Required Ignition Interlock
Device. Albergo is accused of operating a motor vehicle in the Town of Roxbury
while having a revoked driver’s license due to a failure to submit to a
chemical test. Albergo was being held in the Delaware County Correctional
Facility on an unrelated charge.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 60-Year-Old
Thomas Anderson of Walton, Sunday on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated,
Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or more, and
Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, Speeding and Failure to Keep Right after a
traffic stop on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton.  Anderson was issued appearance tickets, and
is scheduled to appear in the Walton Town Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 37 year old Gary Sullivan Jr. of Hancock for DWI, after a trooper was dispatched to a 1 car accident on State Route 17 in Kirkwood. The trooper located Sullivan’s vehicle on its side and Sullivan had with minor injuries. Sullivan was arrested & was released on appearance tickets to town of Kirkwood Court on October 16th.

Chenango County Sheriff's Department investigated a robbery Tuesday Night on Royal Avenue in the Town of Norwich, after a male victim went to Chenango Memorial Hospital with missing teeth, head lacerations and additional trauma. The investigation revealed that the victim was lured to the Royal Avenue address by 19 year old Jade Orlando, who requested marihuana to be delivered to her, Brenden Gager, Hunter Speenburgh and Landon Cummings were hiding nearby, they allegedly assaulted and robbed the victim. All 4 were arrested & were charged with Robbery & Assault; they were arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. The City of Norwich Police Department assisted with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.

Free 5-gallon pails of remixed exterior latex paint are still available to non-profit agencies and county residents on a first come, first served basis. The paint was collected as part of the county’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, it was re-mixed and packaged for distribution by Golden Artist Colors of New Berlin. State Police are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred in a residence in the town of Guilford this morning. The name of the deceased & the shooter have not been released, the investigation is on going.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an unidentified 16 year old at the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus in the Town of Masonville Tuesday, following an investigation into a physical altercation involving a weapon on school grounds. The youth was charged with 1 count of 3rd degree Assault & 1 count of Menacing. The teen was arraigned in the Town of Colchester Court and released into the custody of his guardian, pending further action by the Town of Masonville court.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27-year-old Jonathan Howard of Walton Thursday for leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident, making an unsafe lane change, and obstructing government administration. Howard is accused of leaving the scene of an alcohol related crash in an attempt to elude arrest by law enforcement. Howard was later released on appearance tickets returnable to Walton Town Court at a later date.

The Oneonta Clerk's office announced that City Hall will be closed on Monday, Christmas Day. The Operations Planning & Evaluation Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled, The Finance/Human Resources Committee will be held Wednesday at 5:00 PM, & on Thursday at 4:00 PM the Examining Board of Plumbers meeting will be held as scheduled. Following multiple raids and arrest warrants associated with Operation Hailstorm, State Police, C-NET, & multiple law enforcement agencies arrested 11 people yesterday, for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Money Laundering. Police arrested Charles Green Jr. of Binghamton & Rachel Millard of Endicott; they were arraigned in Binghamton Federal Court and remanded to jail. Also arrested was Alonso Harris of Youngstown, Arizona, by the DEA in Arizona. Several other Southern Tier area defendants were charged with Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, all were arraigned in Binghamton Federal Court and remanded to jail.

State Police arrested 28-year-old Todd Matias of Harpursville for Felony DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1& several other traffic violations, after a trooper heard a vehicle with a loud exhaust on State Route 79, in the town of Colesville. The officer determined that Matias was driving while intoxicated, had a suspended driver's license, and an expired vehicle registration. Matias refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content, he was arraigned in the town of Colesville court, and was remanded to the Broome County jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 22-year-old Ashley Murphy, of Sidney Center, on a Bench Warrant issued by the Town of Walton, for failure to appear to answer a charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Murphy was arraigned in the Town of Walton Court and was released on her own recognizance and directed to reappear in the Town of Walton Court on a later date.

State Police arrested 46-year-old Wayne Johnson of Oneonta, for Felony DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Interlock Device. Johnson was pulled over for improperly working headlights, a trooper determined that Johnson was intoxicated, had a suspended driver’s license, and was driving a vehicle that was not equipped with an ignition interlock device. Johnson was arraigned in the town of Oneonta court and was remanded to the Otsego county jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond, pending September 12th court action.

The Town of Hartwick offers collection containers for household batteries and mercury thermostats. There are 2 Drop-off Locations for rechargeable, button cell, and lithium batteries, one is at the Hartwick Town Hall at 103 Town Drive. The second is at Short Cuts located at 10 Commons Drive in the Hartwick Commons during open hours. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Sunday t a 1 car MVA on Pines Brook Road, in the Town of Walton. Deputies arrested 22 year old Fawn Palladino of Walton, for Aggravated DWI; driving with a BAC of .18% or more, along with several other Vehicle and Traffic violations. Palladino failed to maintain control of her vehicle while turning onto Pines Brook Road; Deputies also arrested 27-year-old Amanda Dente of Walton, for Obstructing Governmental Administration, after she became physically violent with individuals on scene. Both were processed and released with appearance tickets made returnable to the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Bell Hill Road in the Town of Delhi Monday, for a personal injury Motor vehicle accident. 18 year old Camron Cotto of Ithaca, lost control of his vehicle on a curve causing the vehicle to leave the road and strike a number of trees. Cotto was treated and released from O’Connor Hospital. 24-year-old Jesse-Lee Demarco of Watertown sustained serious head trauma and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, 20-year-old Alex Brimmer of Dexter sustained serious chest and head trauma and was airlifted to Bassett Hospital. 2 other passengers were not injured. The investigation is continuing, charges may be filed.

A State of Pennsylvania resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on a Fugitive from Justice Warrant stemming from two warrants from Pennsylvania. Michael Perry had been released from the Chenango County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges then turn over to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department on the active warrant. Perry was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded back to the Jail, Perry is to reappear in the Chenango County Court at a later date to answer to his charges.

About 100 area residents attended last nights Unatego School district Town Hall meeting with Superintendent Dave Richards, who told WCDO News of the 2 main concerns:

Richards said that the Facilities committee has suggested closing the Otego Elementary School first, and then the Unadilla Elementary School in 4 to 5 years after that, the Unatego Board of Education is expected to vote on the Otego closure next month. Richards said that the district has lost 28% of their student population in the last 10 years, and the 2 buildings are over 90 years old and face millions of dollars in repairs & renovations.

Another public meeting of the Oneonta Downtown Revitalization initiative will be held on Tuesday January 24th at the Foothills Performing Arts Center Atrium. Updated information will be provided by Stantec Urban Planners, Otsego Now & the local planning committee, regarding plans to transform the downtown business district. Oneonta received 10 million dollars from the state last year for the projects. The public is encouraged to attend & participate in the meeting on the 24th.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded to a 2-car motor vehicle accident on State Highway 206 in the Town of Walton Monday. 48-year-old Tenzin Pelmo of Ithaca was rear-ended by a vehicle being driven by 37 year old Karyl Rose of Bainbridge. Both drivers were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Rose was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, unsafe tires and following too closely. Rose was arraigned & was released on her own recognize pending later court action in Town of Walton Court.

Plans call for new sidewalk configurations, new trees, lighting, and underground rainwater collection into reservoirs under the sidewalks. The plans are expected to go up for bidding next month, with construction getting underway this spring.

Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville Head Wrestling Coach Brandon MacNaught has been named the 2015-2016 New York State Wrestling Coach of the Year. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association recognized MacNaught's work during the 15-16 season, he had the task of working with 3 different school districts for his combined team, yet the Bears are consistently one of the most successful teams in the area. They sent several wrestlers to the state tournament in Albany last year and won several tournaments as a team as well.

Governor Cuomo today announced that his administration has reached a three-year labor agreement with the New York State Public Employees Federation. PEF is one of the largest unions in the United States and is New York's second-largest state-employee union, representing 54,000 workers. The three-year contract agreement includes a 2 percent increase in 2016-17, 2 percent increase in 2017-18 and a 2 percent increase in 2018-19. Both the state and PEF agree to work together on a plan to reduce out-of-control healthcare costs. Other elements of the contract will be released shortly. The contract must now be approved by its Executive Board and ratified by its membership.

NYSEG is reporting that about 140 customers in Chenango County were without power, mainly in Guilford Oxford & Bainbridge. Crews hope to have power restored shortly.

A Town of Greene resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Criminal Mischief & Harassment following a Domestic Dispute in the Town of Greene. Deputies arrested 56-year-old Joshua Browning who allegedly intentionally pushed the victim and prevented the victim from call 911 by damaging a phone. Browning was arraigned in the Town of Greene court and released on his own recognizance. Browning is to reappear in the Town of Greene Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 31-year-old Courtney Otte of Walton for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree. Deputies allege the defendant operated a motor vehicle in a northerly direction on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton while having an active suspension on her license for failure to answer a summons. Otte was additionally charged with unlicensed operation, operating a motor vehicle with an out headlight, and was released on traffic tickets returnable to Walton Town Court at a later date.

A Town of Plymouth resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on a Fugitive of Justice complaint for active Bench Warrant out of the Cleveland County Court in the State of Oklahoma. Deputies arrested 37-year-old Michael Lee Hall on the Fugitive of Justice complaint Hall was taken into custody and taken to the Town of Norwich Court. Hall was remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. He is to reappear in the Chenango County Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 19-year-old Jason McCrady of Greene, for 3rd degree Assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and harassment. This arrest occurred after troopers. McCrady is accused of punching, shoving & choking his girlfriend, causing injuries, he was also wanted on a bench warrant for aggravated harassment by State Police in Homer. McCrady was arraigned in the Town of Greene court and was remanded to the Chenango County jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond, pending court action on July 12th.

The trial of Almond Upton is scheduled to begin on July 11th In Broome County. Upton is accused of intentionally running down State Trooper Christopher Skinner as he was conducting an unrelated traffic stop on May 29 2014, on I-81 in the town of Chenango, Trooper Skinner was killed instantly.

State Police responded to a Delaware County 911 report of a motor vehicle accident on West Kortright Church Road in the Town of Kortright, Monday at around 5:45 PM. Troopers determined that 58 year old Michael Berry of East Meredith, lost control of his pickup truck, he left the roadway, struck a culvert, & overturned. Berry was transported to Fox Hospital in Oneonta where he was pronounced deceased from internal injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 47-year-old Donald Reutter of the town of Maryland, for felony DWI, Reutter was observed weaving while driving on State Route 7 in the Town of Oneonta. The arrest is a felony due to a prior conviction for DWI within the last 10 years. Reutter was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta court and was remanded to the Otsego County jail. His next court date in the Town of Oneonta is on February 25, 2016.

State Police arrested 35 year old Andrew Adams of Oneonta for 2nd degree Assault, 4 counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with children under the age of 16, 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Driving while ability impaired by drugs, plus harassment & several other traffic violations. This arrest occurred after an Otsego County 911 report of an erratic driver on Interstate 88 westbound who crashed into a guide rail near mile marker 33 in the Town of Sidney. Adams had his four children ages 8-12 in his car with him, with No injuries were reported. Adams also became disorderly and punched at troopers during processing. Adams was arraigned at the Town of Sidney court and was remanded to the Delaware County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 property bond. His next court date in the Town of Sidney is on February 26th.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 32 year old Jeremy Morris of Oneonta & 24 year old Amanda Tolbert of Oneonta on a variety of charges in Cooperstown on January 13th. Morris was driving without a license, when he was stopped deputies found hypodermic needles, drug packaging materials, two firearms & ammunition, he was also accused of selling heroin in Oneonta. Morris was charged with Possession of a hypodermic instrument, Criminal possession of a weapon, Criminal contempt, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, & Criminal sale of a controlled substance, he was returned to the Otsego County Jail on $50,000 cash bail and $100,000 bond. Tolbert was charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument & she was wanted on an active Family Court arrest warrant. Tolbert was arraigned in the Town of Otsego Court and taken to the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life announces an information team captain meeting will be held on February 1st at the United Methodist church in Sidney. The meeting will begin at 5:30 PM. 36 year old Rafael Figueroa, of Saugerties was convicted Friday of felony drug trafficking following a trial in Delaware County Court. The jury deliberated for about 30 minutes before reaching its verdict, Figueroa was found guilty of 3 felony charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance for trafficking of cocaine into Town of Middletown. Figueroa was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail pending sentencing.

State Police investigated the report of a forcible rape in the Town of Union. 31 year old Joseph Mancini of Endwell was arrested for 1st degree Rape & Criminal Sex Act; Mancini was arraigned in the Town of Union Court and remanded to the Broome County jail without bail.

Governor Cuomo announced that the State is launching new security measures at Planned Parenthood sites across New York State. The State Police began increase patrols at Planned Parenthood locations across the state on Friday and on Monday will visit the more than 60 Planned Parenthood clinics and locations throughout New York to assist with security and emergency planning measures.

Chenango County Sheriff's office arrested 31-year-old Andrew Gould of Sherburne for 3rd degree Assault, following an altercation with a Town of Sherburne. Gould is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sherburne court at a later date.

State Police arrested 26-year-old Bryan Eichhorn of Laurens, for Felony DWI, driving without a locking device & other traffic violations. This arrest occurred after troopers observed Eichhorn failing to stop at a stop sign & speeding on Otsego County Route 10 in the Town of Laurens. Eichorn has a conviction for DWI within the last ten years; he was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Laurens court on December 7th.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 19-year-old Keegan McCumber of Guilford in the Town of Franklin Saturday, when a vehicle had passed them on State Highway 357 with a loud exhaust. When Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle McCumber failed to comply, after a short pursuit, he was stopped in a driveway on Main Street in Franklin. , McCumber was arrested for Aggravated DWI, loud exhaust, driving left of payment markings, failure to use turn signal and failure to comply, he will appear in Town of Franklin Court at a later date

A Town of Bainbridge resident was arrested on an active arrest warrant by the Chenango County Sheriffs department. 26-year-old Richard Margarum was wanted on a charge of Criminal Possession of Stolen property, he was arrested at a Town of Afton residence, upon arrest, he was found that he was in possession of a controlled substance. Margarum was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Margarum was also issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.

The Town of Sidney Zoning board of appeals will conduct a public meeting at 7:00 pm at the Sidney Civic Center board room, To continue examining findings of the Town Code Official in regards to further developing the KOA campground at 242 Union Church Road Franklin.

The Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties will offer free health screenings to women 40 and older who are uninsured. The Bassett Cancer Institute’s mobile screening coach will be available today from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Family Planning of Oneonta, 37 Dietz Street in Oneonta & at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Walton Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Appointments are requested at 1-888-345-0225.

The Guilford town board will hold a work session tonight for the purpose of budget preparation. The meeting will begin at 6:30 at the Guilford town hall at 223 Marble Road in Guilford center.
