Today is day one of the Phase 1 of re-opening of many types of businesses following the shutdown during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in March.  Kerri Green of Commerce Chenango said that many businesses will have to change the way they operate on many levels from this point on:

Glen Nealis of Delaware County Economic Development said that one of the reasons this part of the state is part of the Phase 1 Re-Opening is that people & businesses took the warnings seriously:

Nealis said that the hardest part of the reopening of the state is the 4th phase, which would be the opening of businesses that rely on a large gathering of people, where social distancing is difficult.  Business can find out where they fit in, and how the 1st phase is going by logging onto forward.ny.gov.

19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado announced the
creation of his 19th Congressional District Small Business Advisory Committee
to meet & advise him on the priorities of small businesses in the area and
legislation before the House regarding small businesses.  Among those serving on the Committee are
Delaware County Chamber President Ray Pucci, Delaware County Economic
Development Director Glenn Nealis & Otsego Now CEO Jody Zakrevsky. The 19th
District has more than 27,000 small businesses and self-employed owners.
Watkins Glen International will no longer be hosting the
50th anniversary Woodstock music festival on August 16th through the 18th.  Officials from the racetrack issued a
statement Monday afternoon that read, "Watkins Glen International
terminated the site license for Woodstock pursuant to provisions of the
contract. As such, WGI will not be hosting the Woodstock 50 Festival."

Amphenol of Sidney has laid off 90 production workers for the 2nd time in 7 months, after a stop-shipment order by the Defense Logistics Agency, Land and Maritime, on connectors made at the Sidney plant. Delaware County Economic Development Director Glen Nealis explains the issue:

Nealis said that Amphenol is not in danger of falling below employment numbers promised to the state, following agreements made with the state for funding to build the new plant on Delaware Avenue following the devastating floods of 2006 & 2011.

The Delaware County Industrial Development Agency and ACCO Brands Corporation announced a project that will result in the creation of 25 new, full-time jobs at ACCO Brands’ Sidney facility. County Economic Development Director Glen Nealis explains:

The project will result in the creation of 10 jobs within a newly created call center facility at ACCO Brands’ administrative building, as well as 15 new production-related jobs generated through manufacturing and distribution operations. The IDA responded with a $20,000 loan to offset the investment of over $60,000 by ACCO Brands, with the potential for loan forgiveness contingent upon ACCO Brands meeting certain job creation benchmarks.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Amphenol site in Sidney was held this afternoon.  Congressman Chris Gibson was one of the dignitaries that spoke to the crowd; he said that this project was especially important to him as a military veteran:
