Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced that 41 year old Miguel Manchion was indicted by a Broome County Grand Jury for the March 16th homicide of 51 year old Lazar Jones in Binghamton. The indictment charges Manchion with 1st & 2nd degree manslaughter, & 2nd degree Assault, Jones died from blunt force trauma to the head for repeatedly being hit in the head with a glass mug.
The Chenango County Department of Public Works closed County Road 42 between State Route 26 and George White Road, in the Town of Pharsalia, The closure will be in place for approximately 5 days for the replacement of a large culvert. Motorists are advised to use the detour along Billy Brown Road, Center Road and George White Road, more information is available at 337-1710.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 men Friday, in connection with a Town of Delhi burglary and a traffic stop in the Town of Kortright. 37-year-old Patrick Burnside of Bloomville and 43 year old George Robinson of Delhi, were charged with 2nd degree Burglary, 3rd degree Grand Larceny plus Conspiracy & Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument. Robinson was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle as Deputies observed him operating a motor vehicle in Kortright with a suspended license. Both men are accused of entering a Town of Delhi residence on July 17th and stealing a safe containing cash and jewelry valued at $6,000, they were arraigned and were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on Bail pending further court action. The Investigation is continuing.

Scammers posing as the IRS, are targeting Senior citizens or Naturalized citizens, they are trying to get money from unsuspecting taxpayers, under the threat of possible arrest if they do not comply. Area Tax preparer George McLain told WCDO News that the IRS does not call citizens:

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 report last Wednesday of a 1-car personal injury accident on State Highway 10 in the Town of Hamden. 68-year-old Thomas Jones of Hamden failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway after suffering an apparent medical emergency, he left the roadway and rolled his vehicle over an embankment, Jones was extricated from his vehicle & was airlifted by LifeNet Helicopter to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for treatment of a head injury.

Autopsies were conducted Monday on Tifanne Wells, the manner of her death to be a homicide caused by 2 gunshot wounds. The autopsy on George Jones ruled the manner of his death to be a suicide as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. State Police stated that the investigation is continuing, it is believed that the timing of the incident was late in the afternoon of Saturday March 7th, at the couple's residence in the town of Oneonta.

Forensic Pathologist, Dr. James Terzian conducted an autopsy today on Tifanne Wells and ruled the manner of her death to be a homicide caused by two gunshot wounds. Dr. Terzian conducted an autopsy on George Jones and ruled the manner of his death to be a suicide as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The autopsies were conducted at Lourdes Hospital, State Police stated that the investigation is continuing through interviews and forensic analysis to determine the circumstances that led to the fatalities. It is believed that the timing of the incident was late in the afternoon of Saturday March 7th, at the couple's residence in the town of Oneonta.

State Police at Oneonta are investigating the deaths of 44-year-old TIFANNE WELLS & 51-year-old GEORGE JONES at a residence on County Highway 47 in the Town of Oneonta. Otsego County 911 received a call to check the welfare from a concerned party, Troopers responded to the residence at approximately 8:30 Sunday Morning and located both subjects deceased, outside of the residence. Autopsies were scheduled to be conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, the investigation is ongoing.
