Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that a record level of $67 million is available through the Farmland Protection Implementation Grants Program to help farmers protect valuable and at-risk farmland. Round 20 will make funds available to projects addressing food security, climate resilience, and source water protection, nearly $6.4 million will be allocated to 9 of the State’s economic development regions, the maximum award for any project has increased to $3 million. Round 20 also continues the one-time incentive payment of 10% of the value of the agricultural conservation easement being required for projects that meet climate resilience or source water protection goals.

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society will be holding a virtual program to coincide with its History Center exhibition, "Up from the Ashes: Oneonta Shaped by Fire". Governor Cuomo announced a record $52.5 million is now available through the Farmland Protection Implementation Grant program to help farmers across New York protect valuable and at-risk farmland. This is the highest level of funding being offered in the program's 25-year history. In addition, for the first time, the program will distribute funds to each of the state's 10 economic development regions, with $5 million being allocated to each region. The Farmland Protection Program for dairy builds on New York State's continued land preservation efforts. In May, the State announced nearly $38 million is available through the Farmland Protection Implementation Grant program to help Farmers across New York protect valuable and at-risk farmland. Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills announced that the Sunday Fundraiser at Danny's Restaurant in Walton netted nearly $30,000 for the K-9 program. The K-9 unit has become increasingly important as the county battles the ongoing drug problem. Sheriff Mills stated that the money raised would be used for the continuance of the K9 unit & the upkeep for "Ozzie"

The  Grant program is part of the Environmental Protection Fund, which Governor Cuomo's 2016 Executive Budget proposal has more than doubled, to $300 million.
