37 year old Rondell Dowdell of Endicott, pleaded guilty this morning in Broome County Court, to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. On July 17, 2025, Dowdell was stopped in Vestal while operating an electric bicycle in violation State Traffic Laws, a Vestal Police Department canine alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search recovered approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging material, and cash from suspected drug sales. Dowdell is scheduled for sentencing on October 14th, he faces 3 years in State Prison and 3 Years of post release supervision.

State Police arrested 41 year old Donatello Lazarati of Baldwinsville for Bail Jumping and Criminal Contempt, following a violation of a court order issued following his arraignment on a previous Grand Larceny charge. Lazarati was prohibited from leaving the United States and was directed to surrender his passport. Lazarati failed to comply with those conditions, State Police were notified Thursday that Lazarati was attempting to leave the United States and purchased an airline ticket to Qatar at John F. Kennedy International Airport, he was arrested at the airport, brought back to Troop C, and was processed in and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $35,000 cash, $50,000 credit or $250,000 partially secured bond.

43 year old Jason Sweeney of Friendsville Pennsylvania was arrested June 3rd, after Officers observed him peel out & speed in Endicott. Sweeney was stopped, he admitted to consuming alcohol and Deputies observed a handgun & a box of ammunition in the vehicle, Sweeney was charged with Felony DWI, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, he was processed and arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Chapman was charged multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, plus Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance plus several related charges, Police seized cocaine, Crack Cocaine Psychedelic Mushrooms, plus packaging material, scales, & cash from suspected drug sales, Chapman was processed then turned over to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

State Police arrested 46 year old James Lewis of Binghamton after a dispute that resulted in another man sustaining serious injuries. Lewis has been charged with 1st Degree Robbery & Assault, On Friday afternoon, Troopers were dispatched to Endicott for a report of a male who had been struck multiple times by a baseball bat following a dispute. The 48 year old unidentified victim was taken to Wilson Medical Center, where he underwent surgery & was listed in stable condition. An investigation determined that Lewis and the victim had previously traded e-bikes, with the victim expected to pay Lewis, when he failed to provide payment, Lewis struck him multiple times with a baseball bat then left the area with the e-bike. Troopers located Lewis Saturday, was taken into custody without incident, and the e-bike was recovered. Lewis was processed & was turned over to the Broome County Jail for Arraignment.

State Police arrested 39 year old Joshua Skobern of Johnson City after an investigation into an arson at self-service car wash in Endicott. Skobern was charged with Criminal Mischief, 5th degree Arson after Troopers responded to Enviro Auto Wash on Watson Boulevard for damage that occurred on April 12, to a car wash payment kiosk. An investigation determined that Skobern punched the payment kiosk then struck it with a spray wand and then used a lighter to burn the face-plate, causing damage. Troopers located Skobern at his residence. He was taken into custody and was processed and was issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on April 28.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 4 people on drug charges following the execution of a search warrant in the town of Chenango. State Police responded to multiple accidents due to the weather again this morning, this morning at about 3:15 am., Troopers were dispatched to I-81 in the town of Cortlandville, the investigation revealed that a Greyhound bus was traveling northbound on I-81, it was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Cheikh Mohamed Lem Abedouty of Virginia, the bus slowed following the initial collision, it was subsequently rear-ended by a car operated by Tyreck Hunte of Endicott, who did not initially stop but later reported the crash to Troopers. Abedouty was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Hunte was not injured, The operator of the bus, Kimberly Poole of Philadelphia, did not report any injuries. None of the 43 passengers on board reported injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Gendron murdered 10 people in a Buffalo area TOPS supermarket in 2022, Gendron is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole from his State trial, he still faces a federal trial in which prosecutors are pursuing the death penalty. Also, Gendron's parents have reached settlements with the attorneys representing the victims families & the survivors, The gun shop, Vintage Firearms formerly of Endicott, settled lawsuits for selling the AR-15 to Gendron that was used in the murders, Means LLC settled a lawsuit for falsely advertised about magazine locks used by Gendron, claiming that they complied with New York State Gun laws.

The CHENANGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE arrested 42 year old Jamie Button of the Town of Plymouth for Obstruction of Governmental Administration. During an investigation of an unrelated incident on December 27th, 2025, Button provided deputies with false information into the whereabouts of a wanted subject in order to prevent the apprehension of the subject. Button was taken into custody without incident, was processed and released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Otselic Court at a later date. The Obstruction charge is punishable by up to one year in jail or three years' probation, and a $1,000 fine.

44 year old James McNeilly of Endicott, was sentenced in Broome County Court to a State Prison term of 3 to 6 years, he was sentenced as a second time felony offender based upon his prior conviction for Attempted Strangulation in 2016. State Police announced that a multi-agency saturation detail on February 5, resulted in three arrests. Arrested were 61 year old Kenneth Jordan of Endicott for counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Jordan was processed then transported to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. A traffic stop in the village of Johnson City resulted in the arrest of 50 year old Robert Stankevich of Binghamton for criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for allegedly possessing crystal meth, he was released on an appearance tickets for Johnson City Village Court on Wednesday. A traffic stop in the town of Union resulted in the arrest of 22 year old Donavin Stiglich of Whitney Point on drug charges for allegedly possessing crystal meth, he'll appear in Union Town Court on February 17.

Voters in the 16 component districts of DCMO BOCES have approved a $44.4 million capital project. The project proposed repairs and upgrades to both the Harrold Campus in Sidney Center and the Pole Campus in Norwich, an addition to the Harrold Campus, and the purchase of the Masonville School site for student program expansion. The search warrant is the result of a several months-long investigation at 448 Robin Lane in the Town of Vestal. Police seized 8 pounds of cannabis, 3 pounds of cannabis concentrate plus cash, Cell Phones and a PC Tablet, they arrested 22 year old Tyler Dickerson of Endicott on multiple counts of Criminal Possession of Cannabis, and 41 year old William Dickerson of Vestal on the Cannabis charges, plus Resisting Arrest & Obstructing Governmental Administration, Both men were processed and issued appearance tickets to appear at the Vestal Town Court on February 19.

Today, Thorson was charged with 3rd degree Rape & Criminal Sexual Act before being remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

On November 12, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office received a referral from the New York State Child Abuse Hotline regarding inappropriate conduct between a juvenile student and a member of the Broome-Tioga BOCES faculty. 51 year old Evan Thorson of Endicott was charged with Child Endangerment and Official Misconduct, a warrant & an Order of Protection was issued by the Town of Dickinson Court. Thorson turned himself in and was processed on Monday. Thorson was no longer employed by BroomeTioga BOCES.

On December 15th, deputies responded to a burglary complaint in the Town of Binghamton, they found fresh footprints in the snow, signs of a break-in and smoke billowing from inside the house due to an active fire. State Police & Binghamton Fire Department responded, Deputies followed footprints and found evidence of stolen items, they used a drone to & located 37 year old Anthony Storti of Conklin, who was found to be in possession of narcotics, the investigation uncovered that Storti had been in the residence, left a vape behind and he set a fire inside. 24 year old Allyson Russell of Endicott, was identified as an accomplice in the burglary and arson. Both were charged with a host of felonies including Burglary, Arson criminal possession of a weapon, Grand Larceny & criminal possession of a controlled substance, they face court action shortly.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Sunday to a burglary in the Town of Union. Deputies found the suspect, 42 year old Nicholas Sacco of Endicott lying on the ground while the homeowner stood nearby holding a snow shovel. Sacco was taken into custody, the homeowner was treated at the scene by EMS for lacerations to his arm. The homeowner reported hearing glass breaking nearby, and then from the back of his own house, he discovered Sacco attempting to break in, pushed him off his enclosed porch, Sacco attempted re-entry & the homeowner stuck Sacco repeatedly with a snow shovel. Deputies discovered that the property next door, was also burglarized. Sacco was charged with 2nd & 3rd Degree Burglary, plus 2 counts of criminal mischief, he was arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division was contacted by a YouTube channel, which posts videos catching child predators who have been interacting with a decoy posing as a juvenile. 54 year old Denis Dean of Endwell had been speaking with a decoy posing as a 13-year-old female, he sent multiple inappropriate images of himself to the decoy and arranged to meet in-person Monday with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old female girl, Dean was confronted by members of EDP Watch YouTube channel in Endicott, Members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and Endicott Police responded and took Dean into custody. At about 5:25 pm a Trooper came upon a 3 vehicle crash on I-88 east near exit 9, where a Chevrolet Malibu operated by 58 year old Ray Saddlemire of Endicott and Dodge pick up towing a camper, driven by 68 year old David Benjamin of Tennessee collided, with the Benjamin vehicle going off the roadway and it overturned, the Saddlemire vehicle was partially in the left lane when it was struck by a Honda driven by 68 year old Gerald Hawkes of Ithaca. Saddlemire & Benjamin were taken to Wilson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Hawkes was not injured.

Chenango County Health Department reported that a raccoon found along State Highway 80 between Sherburne and Columbus was tested by the Wadsworth Laboratories, and was found to have rabies. Residents and visitors in the area are advised to not pick up or handle any stray or wild animal, If your pet or livestock is behaving strangely contact your veterinarian immediately. State Police responded Monday to a 4 vehicle crash in the town of Union. Investigators determined that 3 vehicles were stopped in traffic when 58 year old Michele Drossos of Endicott rear ended a Toyota driven by 28 year old Ryan Freita of Endicott, who was pushed into a GMC SUV driven by 63 year old Charles Mann of Endicott, which was pushed into a pick-up truck operated by 45 year old Joshua Malloy-Buczek of Endicott. 2 people were transported to Wilson Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, Drossos was ticketed and faces court action at a later date.

State Police BCI, the FBI and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested 3 men following separate investigations targeting individuals using social media to entice minors to engage in sexual acts. State Police arrested 70 year old Ronald Wenzinger of Binghamton, for 2nd degree Attempted Rape Wenzinger was a Reverend at the United Methodist Church in Harpursville, he was turned over to the Broome County Jail for arraignment. State Police arrested 39 year old John Tedmark of Binghamton and 38 year old Juan Bolanoszul of Endicott, each for 2nd degree Attempted Rape, they were turned over to the Broome County Jail for arraignment. Anyone with information about crimes against children is encouraged to contact the State Police or their local law enforcement agency.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded Saturday to a report of a burglary on Boswell Hill Road in the Town of Union. The homeowner spotted 2 individuals with flashlights inside his house with his home security camera system and called 911. Deputies, with State Police, located the 2 suspects, they fled into a wooded area, but were apprehended. Arrested were 43 year old Matthew Ortloff of Chenango Forks, & 45 year old Jeremiah Johnson of Endicott. The pair were charged with Burglary, Conspiracy, Possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief, along with seve4ral other related charges, they were arraigned and remain in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The horse is a neutered male, He is grey with flecks of red and has a darker muzzle. The Horse named "Koda" has dietary issues & was taken from a fenced in property on Struble Road in the town of Union sometime between July 23 and July 24. Neal Morrison of Vestal pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Broome County Court in exchange for a sentence of 8 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision. Morrison also pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Firearm, for which he will receive a sentence of 1½ to 3 years in State Prison. The charges stem from 2 separate incidents, on April 21, Vestal officers encountered Morrison exhibiting signs of erratic behavior, he was taken into custody under Mental Health Law for evaluation. While securing his residence, officers observed a shotgun under a blanket along with a glass smoking device and a pellet gun. In May, Endicott Police Department responded to an abandoned residence, Morrison was found sleeping behind a couch, and there was an active warrant for his arrest. A search revealed a firearm in a holster, Morrison will be sentenced on October 9th in Broome County Court.

An Endicott man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing 27 iPhones from a FedEx facility while working for the company. Last Friday the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a larceny complaint at FedEx Freight East, at Industrial Park Drive in the Town of Kirkwood. Security at the facility advised that someone had been stealing from iPhones since April by sneaking them out of the facility in his coat pocket. After reviewing footage, 22 year old Leon Roberts of Endicott was charged with 3rd degree Grand Larceny. Roberts was arraigned at Central Arraignment Part and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Kirkwood Court.

Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti announced the allocation of $52,500 in funding to support enhanced summer traffic safety & community policing patrols throughout the County. The fund from the DA’s Traffic Diversion Program, will be distributed to the Binghamton, Endicott, Johnson City & Vestal Police Departments and the Broome County Sheriff Office.

The demolition of the IBM Old Building Group in Endicott should be completed shortly, as Gorick Construction has been tearing down condemned building along McKinley Avenue. After the structures have been leveled, the rubble will be removed, and there will be some preparation of the site for potential future development, The IBM buildings have been condemned for 20 years. The cost of the demolition was about $8 Million dollars, paid for by the State & Broome County’s ARPA funds.
