Governor Cuomo announced plans to create a new hate-crimes unit in the state police and legal assistance for immigrants targeted for deportation or discrimination. Delaware County deputies along with Downsville Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a missing hunter in the Campbell Brook area in the Town of Colchester Sunday. Deputies and Fire personnel located the vehicle of the missing hunter on Morton Brook Road; Services were summoned from the Environmental Conservation Police, Forest Rangers, Roscoe-Rockland Fire Department and the Colchester Police Department. Following a lengthy search, 24-year-old Steve Quinn of Ocean Side, New York was located, in good health; he was treated by members of Downsville EMS and was released.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to an Armed Robbery Friday at the Speedway Gas Station, in the Town of Norwich. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the store employee. The Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Jeremy Farnsworth of Norwich for 2nd degree Robbery police recovered the stolen cash and the weapon used in the robbery. Farnsworth was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail. He is to reappear in court on November 22. The State Police and City of Norwich Police Department assisted with the investigation.
