A Chenango County Grand Jury Indicted Zackery England for criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (fentanyl), possession of methamphetamine, and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Prosecutors said England also attempted to discard fentanyl by throwing it into bushes during a July 23 incident in Norwich. England will appear in Chenango County Court for arraignment shortly.

Norwich Police Detectives successfully concluded an investigation Wednesday into the distribution of counterfeit U.S. currency and the illegal sale and possession of controlled substances, including fentanyl and methamphetamine. Police arrested 34 year old Zachary England of Norwich, for 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, 18 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, plus Tampering with Physical Evidence among other charges, England was found in possession of $1,800 in cash upon arrest, along with fentanyl and methamphetamine. England was arraigned and was held without bail due to prior felony convictions, the investigation remains ongoing.

State Police Investigators continue to search for Brandon Williams who was last seen on March 11, 2019. At the time that Brandon went missing, he was 32 years old, weighing about 220 pounds and 6’2” in height. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans, black Converse sneakers, a New England Patriots winter hat and a tan Carhart jacket with black writing on it. Anyone who might have information about Williams or knows what happened to him is asked to call (607) 754-2701 or (607) 561-7400.

Firefighters from Deposit and surrounding communities responded Early Tuesday morning to a reported fire at the New England Wood Pellets facility in the Industrial Park. The initial report was a fire in a hopper full of sawdust, Crews arrived on the scene, A second alarm was requested bring additional resources to the scene. The fire was extinguished in about 40 minutes and was confined to the hopper. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Deposit, Windsor, Hancock, Harpursville & West Windsor responded at about 3:00 AM this morning to a fire at the New England Wood Pellet factory at 1580 Airport Road in Deposit. Firefighters are expected to be at the facility throughout the morning hours, more details are expected to be released later today.

One of the largest crowds in Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony History attended yesterday's festivities in Cooperstown, to see 7 more inducted. A large number of attendees came from the New England States to see Boston Red Sox Star Designated Hitter David Ortiz inducted, he appreciated all who supported him along the way:

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 parolees on drug charges, following a narcotics investigation at the Norwich Motor Lodge. Officers seized methamphetamines, heroin, and illegally possessed prescription medication. 24 year old Cheyenne Davenport was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, she was wanted on a parole warrant & she was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. 30 year old Zackery England was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, he was also wanted on an active warrant and he was remanded to the Chenango County correctional Facility without bail.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to a 2 vehicle accident that resulted in the death of 37-year-old Justin Chordas of Chenango Forks early Tuesday Morning. Chordas was entering State Route 79 in the town of Barker, from a driveway when he collided with a Pick-up truck, Chordas was found unconscious & was extricated from the vehicle & was taken to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The unidentified driver of the truck suffered minor injuries & was taken to Wilson, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

New York's Wadsworth Laboratory in Albany has begun research of the new, more contagious COVID-19 strain discovered in England, they have looked at more than 3,700 virus sequences & they have not found that variant present in any of their random samples, Governor Cuomo commented about the state labs at today's COVID briefing in Albany:

The Wadsworth Lab and the Department of Health have made agreements with 6 hospitals from across the State to obtain additional samples for further research and are making arrangements with other hospitals to do the same, in order to find out if that virus variant is here in New York State.

The State Health Department issued an update on the Kawasaki Disease-like syndrome that has affected children with COVID 19 in the state that killed 3 young people earlier this year.  The State Health Department has investigated 240 cases of the syndrome & published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. 1 of the findings is that the hyper-inflammatory syndrome is associated with cardiac dysfunction& the majority of the patients in the study had no documented underlying conditions.  The Research will be continuing.

State Police are continuing to
investigate into the disappearance of 32 year old Brandon Williams of Endicott.  Williams was last seen in March 2019 in the
town of Maine, he is described as White, 6'2" about 220 pounds, with brown
hair & brown eyes, he was last seen wearing a red Hooded sweatshirt, gray
jeans & a new England Patriots winter hat & a tan jacket.  Anyone with information is asked to contact
State Police at 775-1241.

27 year old Steven Barrows of
Sidney has Pleaded Guilty in Chenango County Court for 3rd degree
Burglary.  Barrows was arrested along
with Nicole Bell of Oneonta & Zachery England of Sidney last year, for
allegedly burglarizing buildings & stealing lawn care equipment, Barrows
will serve 1 1/2 years in prison & was ordered to pay restitution.

3 people were arrested in connection with a series of area burglaries.  State Police arrested 27 year old Steven Barrows of Sidney and 27 year old Zackery England of Sidney for Burglary and Conspiracy and 30 year old Nicole Bell of Oneonta for False Personation, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawfully Possessing a Noxious Material & as a fugitive from justice from the state of Georgia. An investigation revealed that Barrows and England allegedly attempted to break into the property in Guilford, burglarized a seasonal home in Oxford and a seasonal garage in Guilford. Bell originally provided a false name during the arrest of all 3, she was found to be in possession of 2 bb guns, methamphetamine, heroin and brass knuckles. Barrows and England were arraigned in the town of Oxford Court where Barrows was remanded with no bail to the Chenango County Jail and England was remanded on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 property bond. Bell was arraigned in the town of Unadilla Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on no bail.  Additional charges are also expected.

Animal Adventure's April the Giraffe has picked the New England Patriots to win over the Philadelphia Eagles in this year’s Super Bowl this Sunday, February 4th. Video captured inside the giraffe barn at Animal Adventure Park in upstate New York shows April selectively skipping over the lettuce that rests atop an Eagles sign, and reaching for the lettuce that hangs over the Patriots sign. For the 3rd time in the past 4 NFL seasons, football goal posts manufactured by Sportsfield Specialties in Delhi, will make an appearance framing the playing field at the Super Bowl. This year’s game will be hosted at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday. Company officials reported that their goal posts were also used at MetLife Stadium in 2014 when the Seattle beat Denver & again in 2015 when the New England beat Seattle at University of Phoenix Stadium & also in 2008, when Sportsfield's goal posts were 1st used in a Super Bowl as the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots.

Kinder Morgan announced Wednesday that they have decided to stop their Plans to build a natural gas pipeline through the Southern Tier into New England. Officials with the company cited a lack of contracts with gas distribution companies.

Constitution Pipeline Company announced today that they are changing the projected start of service from the 4th quarter of this year to the 2nd half of 2017. The company says it won't be able to complete tree-clearing before the end of March; they have completed tree-felling along the Pennsylvania leg of the project, New York work will not begin until state regulators issue a water quality certification. The Constitution Pipeline would be a 124-mile of natural gas pipeline from Pennsylvania through the southern Tier for distribution into the New England markets.

The Constitution pipeline is expected to traverse the southern tier along the I-88 Corridor from Pennsylvania into the New England markets, with local availability to Am phenol in Sidney among others, along the route.

Federal officials have scheduled hearings on the 2nd natural gas pipeline proposal through the Southern Tier. The sessions hosted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will begin at 7:00 PM Thursday at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta, & at the Days Inn in Schoharie. Kinder Morgan proposes constructing a pipeline along the same corridor as the recently approved Constitution Pipeline, to move gas from Pennsylvania into New England. The Kinder Morgan Pipeline still needs approval from FERC.

Constitution Pipeline Company announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued an order approving construction of its proposed pipeline to increase natural gas supply to New York and New England markets, subject to certain conditions that will ensure the protection of natural resources. The 124-mile Pipeline will travel from Pennsylvania, through Broome, Chenango, Delaware and into Schoharie County, construction will begin as early as the first-quarter next year. Studies indicate that the environmental impacts would be to less than significant levels with the implementation of proposed mitigation measures by the company and FERC.

Governor Cuomo noted the importance of the state’s dairy industry, with June being celebrated as “Dairy Month”. Dairy accounts for ½ of the state's total agricultural income, New York is the 3rd leading producer of milk in the country and also the is now the largest producer of yogurt, cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese.   New York is a net supplier of milk to the Northeast region, with 2.8 billion pounds of milk shipped from farms to out of state plants in New England, Pennsylvania and New Jersey; the state has also experienced a 16.4% increase in dairy-related employment from 2010 to 2013.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission found the Constitution natural gas pipeline project could have numerous impacts on the environment during construction and operation. The Constitution Pipeline would span Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Schoharie counties, it would deliver natural gas from Susquehanna County Pennsylvania to markets in New York and New England.  The commission released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement, it outlined additional mitigation measures that would be  needed to minimize or avoid potential impacts on water bodies, wetlands, and wildlife. After the final environmental impact statement is issued, commissioners will take the recommendations under consideration when deciding project approvals

Congressman Chris Gibson will be in Delaware County today.  Gibson is scheduled to visit the New England Wood Pellet Manufacturing Center in Deposit this morning, followed by the Delaware County Fair Luncheon in Walton at noon; Gibson will attend the Delaware county Fair throughout the afternoon and will march in the Delaware County Fireman’s Parade at 6:30.

New England Wood Pellet of Deposit was fined over $17,000 by the occupational safety & health administration, for allegedly exposing workers to hazardous conditions at their Delaware county facility.  Problems sited at the deposit plant include improper ventilation, lack of spark detection and extinguishing systems.

To the east, states of emergency have been called for the New England , with some estimates calling for more than a foot & a half of snow along the New England coastal communities.

New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has approved the Cuomo administration’s contract for new driver’s licenses that will have black-and-white photos produced by the highest bidder.  DiNapoli’s approval paves the way for CBN Secure Technologies of Virginia to produce the licenses with its winning bid of $38 million over the current contractor, De La Rue of England.
