The Oneida County Sheriff's Office announced that The driver who was killed in a 1-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Bridgewater has been identified as 36-year-old Edward Cuevas, of Oneonta. Cuevas was driving on State Route 8 at about 8:15 on September 25 when the crash occurred, the cause remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oneida County Sheriff's Office at 315-765-2737.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 1 car motor vehicle accident with injuries on September 26th, where the vehicle was found to have rolled over and the operator was found to be suspected of operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. 19 year old Samantha Hanneman of New Jersey was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration over .08, Failure to Keep Right, Move from Lane Unsafely, No Seatbelt, and Speed not Reasonable and Prudent. Hanneman was released to a family member on appearance tickets and directed to appear at the Town of Middletown court at a later date to answer the charges.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 53 year old Matthew Knutsen of Otego following an accident investigation on April 13, 2023 in the Otego. Knutsen was charged with Aggravated DWI- Blood Alcohol Content .18 or higher, Consumption of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent Moved from Lane Unsafely, & Failure to Keep Right Knutsen was issued an appearance tickets for the Otego Town Court on a later date.

to Notify DMV of an Address Change. The arrest was a result of an investigation
of property damage automobile accident on County Highway 14. Alverson was arraigned in the Town of Delhi
Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,000 Cash Bail.

State Police executed a search warrant at 5435 and 5186 Elk Creek Road in the Town of Meredith, following an investigation into the illegal growing of marijuana. Police seized approximately 500 harvested Marijuana Plants, about 100 pounds of processed marijuana, plus 34 grams of hashish, a digital scale, $1166 in cash, 7 long guns, 2 Security surveillance systems. Police arrested 59-year-old Richard Lane of Walton, 48 year old Edward Lane of Meredith, & 61 year old Clayton Rockefeller of Meredith, for Criminal Possession of Marijuana, all 3 were arraigned in the Town of Davenport Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2500 cash bail or $5000 bond.

Governor Cuomo announced that lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on state highways will be suspended until Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM to accommodate travelers during the busy Labor Day holiday weekend. Most construction projects will be suspended, but some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.

Shelton and Koban allegedly took the rifle without permission when they moved out of the home, they were arraigned in the town of Fenton court and released without bail required. Their next court dates are pending.

State Police responded to a 2 vehicle crash on State Route 7 in the town of Unadilla. An investigation determined that 92 year old Joseph Norton of Sidney was driving a Chevrolet Impala, eastbound on State Route 7 when he entered a sharp curve in the roadway and drifted into the westbound lane & struck a dump truck driven by 38 year old Jeffrey Haynes of Sidney head on. Norton was deceased at the scene. Haynes was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. Haynes passenger, 40 year old Jackie Ryan of Mt. Upton was transported to Wilson Hospital and is in stable condition. An autopsy will be conducted at Lourdes hospital, the investigation is ongoing.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded Sunday afternoon in the Town of Walton in relation to a reported violation of an order of protection. Deputies arrested and charged 56-year-old Edward Steitz of Walton with Criminal Contempt, Steitz violated the “stay away” provisions of an Order of Protection issued by Delaware County Family Court Judge Gary A. Rosa. Steitz was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional facility on $1,500 cash bail pending a future appearance in the Town of Walton Court.

Binghamton Police arrested 34-year-old Edward McCray of Binghamton, following a domestic disturbance Saturday. McCray is accused of menacing his neighbors with a sharp object and was driving an SUV erratically, Police reported that McCray attempted to flee in his vehicle as officers arrived, striking 2 parked vehicles, and intentionally ramming 2 police vehicles, before driving a short distance & overturning his vehicle into a house at 6 Macon Street. McCray exited his overturned car and tried to run on foot, but police apprehended him & charged him with DWI, Attempted Aggravated Assault of a Police Officer, Menacing, and Resisting Arrest. No injuries were reported.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25 year old Steven Smith Jr. of Franklin Friday, for DWI, driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to keep right, making an unsafe lane change, unlawful possession of marijuana, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. The arrest followed a 1-car accident on State Highway 357 in the Town of Franklin. Smith was later released on tickets returnable to Franklin Town Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Walton man Thursday following their investigation of an accident on State Highway 10 in the Town of Delhi. 61-year-old Darren Pilch of Walton is accused of driving at an excessive speed when he lost control of his vehicle, which left the roadway and over turned. Pilch was transported to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi, the investigation revealed that Pilch was intoxicated at the time of the accident and had been convicted in February 2015 of Driving with .08% or more Blood Alcohol Concentration. Deputies charged Pilch with 1 count of felony DWI, reckless driving, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent and unlawful possession of marihuana. Pilch was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond pending a future court appearance.
State Police at Binghamton responded to a 3 vehicle accident with a fatality on Interstate 81 northbound; near exit 2, in the Town of Kirkwood Thursday 37 year old Clever Agudo of Flushing was driving a tractor trailer when he struck the rear end of a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 27 year old Kyle Shaffer of Endicott. Shaffer’s car struck the rear of a conversion van being driven by Theresa Mandigo, of Fort Edward, and then went off the shoulder of the roadway. Shaffer was pronounced deceased at the scene, no other injuries were reported, the investigation is continuing.

On Saturday, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 44-year-old Edward Kaneg of Delhi, New York, with Grand Larceny, Burglary, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, & several other charges, following a month long investigation of a burglary involving the theft of a vehicle from a garage in the Town of Delhi. Kaneg was already serving a sentence in the Delaware County Correctional Facility on an unrelated charge; he is scheduled to appear at Delhi Town Court today to answer the charges.
2 bridges on Interstate 81 near the Castle Creek exit in the Town of Chenango were formally dedicated today to State Trooper Christopher Skinner. Skinner was conducting a routine traffic stop on I-81 when a car swerved from the left lane & hit Trooper Skinner in May of 2014. Almond Upton of Florida will stand trial in November in Broome County court; he is facing an 11-count indictment that includes a first-degree murder charge.
Cobleskill Stone Products announced that State Route 205 is undergoing milling and paving from Brown Street to State Route 23 in Oneonta, today through September 10th. From September 14th through September 23rd, construction will continue from Silas Lane to Oneida Street. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during the project period.
State Police at Endwell arrested 3 suspects for Burglary following a 911 call of a burglary in progress to an unoccupied residence in the Town of Union. Troopers located 2 suspects in the residence & a 3rd suspect was taken into custody on an adjacent street with proceeds of the burglary. Charged were 54 year old Otis Bivins of Endicott, 32 year old Roger Edwards Jr. of Endicott & 30 year old Russell Harris of Binghamton, all 3 were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail. The Broome County Sheriff's Office assisted in the apprehension of the defendants.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a 911 report of a property damage accident Friday on State Highway 206 in the Town of Walton. Deputies learned that the operator of 1 vehicle, 51-year-old Edward Wheeler of Downsville was intoxicated. Wheeler was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI and Driving Left of Pavement Markings. Wheeler is accused of having a BAC of higher than .18%; he was issued tickets for Town of Walton Court on July 22nd.
Starting Thursday, the State DOT will begin a several week project to replace a culvert on North Main Street in the Village of New Berlin. Work will be done daily between 6 am and 6 pm with full-time lane closure between Academy Street and West/Genesee Streets. Traffic will be maintained with an extension of the existing signals and one-way alternating traffic. The project is scheduled to last through July 31st.

State Police arrested 40-year-old Edward Bryden of Sidney Center for 2nd degree Menacing. The arrest resulted from a dispute complaint at a residence on Center Street; troopers accuse Bryden of repeatedly engaging in conduct that caused fear to the victim. Bryden was arraigned in the Sidney Town Court and released on his own recognizance. The court issued an order of protection against Bryden.
