Gaudet, who died when the building collapsed on him. Shea is expected to serve 7 years in prison as part of a plea bargain arrangement.

The Town of Colchester Police Department arrested 3 individuals following an investigation into a series of burglaries and larcenies. 21 year old Donavin Brock of Colchester was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Conspiracy, Criminal Mischief, & Aggravated Harassment, 18 year old Tenlei Wood of Walton, was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, & Conspiracy and 40 year old Brooke Walley of Andes, was charged with Burglary, following the investigation by the Town of Colchester Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff's Office into multiple incidents involving stolen property, unlawful entry, and related crimes throughout the community. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be pending, the State Police Forensic Identification Unit assisted in the processing of the crime scenes.

City of Oneonta officials are asking city residents around the SUNY Oneonta campus to Boil their water before using. on Wednesday the water system lost pressure due to the isolation of a broken water main on East Dormitory Road near the intersection of Bugbee Road on the SUNY Oneonta Campus, which could lead to untreated water containing harmful microbes. The FBI arrested 59 year old Peter Bardunias of Clifton Park, for attempting to entice a minor to engage in prohibited sexual activity. The complaint alleges that over the past 2 weeks, Bardunias, who is a Senior Vice President with the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, sent messages to an individual he believed to be a 15 year-old girl during which he discussed violent and sadistic sexual activity, however the individual was an undercover law enforcement official. Bardunias traveled to meet the would-be minor and was taken into custody. A federal search warrant executed at Bardunias’ residence found sex toys, restraints and a knife, he was ordered held in by a Federal Court judge Tuesday pending a detention hearing set for this Friday.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced an 8 count indictment has been filed against 54 year old Joseph Bellows of Downsville, from the crash that occurred in Hancock on July 17th, that resulted in the death by electrocution of East Branch Assistant Fire Chief Jason McGlone. Bellows was charged with Speeding, Driving While Intoxicated, Using a Cell Phone while Driving, Criminal Mischief, Vehicular Manslaughter and 2nd degree Manslaughter. DA Smith said that the most serious charge of 2nd degree Manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 5 to 15 years in jail if Bellows is convicted.

Romain was charged with 1 count of Torturing/Injuring/Failure to Provide Sustenance to Animals, while Natterer faces 11 counts. The Investigation revealed that the pair were housing numerous emaciated dogs at the residence The dogs were seized and the defendants were taken in to custody, were processed and issued Appearance Tickets returnable to the Town of Edmeston Court at a later date. All of the animals were turned over to the Susquehanna SPCA where they are currently receiving medical attention.

The East Branch Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash, in the course of his duties, Assistant Chief McGlone suffered traumatic injuries, medical attention was rendered on scene, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 31 year old Skyler Smith of East Meredith for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. On Saturday Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Smith, who was found to be in possession of an illegal switchblade knife. Smith was additionally charged for a traffic violation and was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town Delhi Court at a later date to answer the said charges.

The Gaudet family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, located in Binghamton, today from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, the funeral mass will be held Wednesday Morning at 11:30 AM at the same location. The official cause of death for Gaudet has not yet been announced, he served for 11 years with the Binghamton Fire Department.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of the victim of the fatal motorcycle accident that took place in the Town of Maine last Thursday night. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a report single-motorcycle crash on East Maine Road, patrols located the operator lying a significant distance from the motorcycle and immediately began providing life-saving measures. 37 year old Jared Warner of Nineveh, was declared deceased at the scene, investigators determined that the Warner was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the accident.

34 year old Jade Pittsley of Binghamton pleaded guilty Thursday in Federal Court to escaping from federal custody and possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine. Pittsley was serving a federal term of imprisonment for a drug offense involving methamphetamine in November 2023 and at the time of the crime, she was under the supervision of a halfway house, she failed to return & law enforcement took her into custody, she faces sentencing on December 30th, Pittsley faces a minimum term of 5 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 4 years.

State Police, the Office of Cannabis Management, the Department of Tax and Finance & local law enforcement, have deployed 150 investigators to inspect, reinspect, padlock, and seize products from of illegal cannabis storefronts. Since May 21st, More than 700 inspections, resulting in 7,485 pounds of illegal cannabis seized, 345 stores were padlocked and 596 Notices of Violation issued. One of the stores was Sidney Exotic on Main Street, There are currently 166 legitimate adult-use retail dispensaries across the Empire State.

State Police arrested 23 year old Brandon Fancher of Cobleskill, last week, for DWI, in Oneonta. While on roving patrol during a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint, a Sergeant observed a vehicle speeding on Main Street in Oneonta and made a traffic stop, the Sergeant smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed other characteristics associated with impairment. Fancher failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, he was arrested, he was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on September 3rd.

A 4 door sedan was making a left turn on a sharp curve onto Wing Hill Road when the driver did not see an SUV from the opposite direction, The vehicles collided and both caught fire, A passerby with a fire extinguisher assisted in getting a family out of the sedan and another person assisted the driver of the SUV out of their vehicle. 3 LifeNet helicopters responded to the area. 3 children & the driver of the sedan; Nicole Rinaldo of Ilion were transported to various hospitals, The driver of the SUV, 52 year old Michael Salon of Herkimer, was transported by helicopter to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rochester Police Chief David Smith gave updates today regarding the January 1st 12:50 AM crash & explosion of 2 SUV's outside the Kodak Center Parking lot. Rochester Police & the FBI investigated the possibility of a terrorist act as there were numerous gas cans in the suspects rented vehicle. The suspect, Michael Avery of Syracuse may have suffered from undiagnosed mental health problems, he died Monday night in an area hospital, 2 other people died in the incident. The investigation revealed that Avery drove to Rochester on Wednesday, checked into a hotel, renting the SUV at the local airport, bought several gas cans & gasoline, Police on the scene said that he sped up as Police were guiding motorists out of the concert venue parking lot. Avery did not leave behind any terrorist manifesto, but the investigation is continuing.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 men on December 22nd, in Kirkwood, after Deputies responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident at a trailer park, they arrived to a dispute involving over a dozen individuals. 21 year old Guy Conklin of Binghamton is accused of threatening to shoot several individuals, driving into a parked car, leaving the scene and returning with 3 passengers in his vehicle. 19 year old Keith Palmer of Binghamton, was in possession of an illegal “Ghost Gun” & controlled substances. 27 year old Christopher Cady of Binghamton, was found to possess drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, he gave police a false name, he was wanted on a warrant out of Pennsylvania on drug charges. Conklin, Palmer and Cady were arrested on a variety of charges, Conklin & Palmer were released on appearance tickets, Cady was held for extradition by the Monroe County Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
The FBI has been called in to investigate a 2 vehicle crash outside the Kodak Center in Rochester at 12:50 AM Monday as possible act of terrorism. 2 people were killed and 5 injured when 2 SUV's collided outside the parking lot as concertgoers were leaving the venue.

The holiday train will take to the rails Saturday, Locally, the train will stop in Oneonta at the Gas Avenue Rail Crossing, from 12:05 pm. to 12:40 pm. Sidney Fire Fighters responded this morning to the report of a trailer fire at 50 East Main Street at about 6:00 AM. The trailer was fully involved, all occupants escaped, WCDO News will have more details as they become available.

The Oxtober Festival will take place from 10 am. to 4 pm. on Sunday, October 22, at LaFayette Park in Oxford. Activities include pumpkin carvings, a scarecrow contest, music from the Nate Gross Band, food trucks, a kid zone, vendors and more. The events was rescheduled after it was postponed earlier this month due to inclement weather.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 21 year old Bryce Barnhart of Cortland following a motor vehicle pursuit which began in the Town of Springfield and continued into Schoharie County on Tuesday. Barnhart was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer, Failure To Comply, Reckless Driving & Speeding & Speeding in a Construction Zone, he is accused of traveling up to 118 miles on U.S. Highway 20 in the Town of Springfield, & for hitting another vehicle while exiting a parking lot. After hundreds of calls to the Oneonta Police Department to respond to various Issues at the Town House Inn on Main Street in Oneonta, City officials have decided to try to shut the motel down, Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek told WCDO news what they are doing:

In recent weeks, Oneonta Police have responded to a shots fired complaint, there was also a fatal overdose there recently, among the 400 incidents reported at the Town House Inn. Mayor Drnek said that the Oneonta Police Department, like many others, is short staffed and can't spend many hours a week responding to the same location repeatedly.

32 year old Antonio Escobar-Boria of Sidney pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Attempted Reckless Endangerment, he is accused of allowing a 2-year-old child to be near illegal drugs at 62 East Main Street in Sidney. After State Police executed a search warrant and discovered the illegal drugs, they directed that the 2-year-old child be brought to the hospital, the 2-year-old child tested positive for fentanyl but did not need medical treatment, Escobar-Boria is expected to be sentenced to a 5-year term of felony probation supervision with a special condition that he successfully complete the Delaware County Adult Treatment Court Program, sentencing is scheduled for July 31st.

Construction began today on the Buffalo Bills' new, state-of-the-art $1.54 billion stadium in Orchard Park. The new 60,000-seat facility is the largest economic development project in Western New York History, Construction on the new stadium is expected to be complete in 2026, artists renderings of the stadium can be found at governor.ny.gov/buffalo-bills-stadium.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a car-motorcycle in the Town of Maine. At approximately 8:24am on Saturday, a motorcycle struck a vehicle crossing Route 26 at the East Maine Road intersection, both occupants were ejected, The motorcycle operator, a male, sustained back injuries and the passenger, a female, sustained a life-threatening head injury, both were transported to Wilson Hospital. The driver of the motorcycle is listed in serious condition and the passenger is in critical condition. The automobile operator sustained minor injuries and was transported to Wilson Hospital for evaluation. The accident is still under investigation.
