A community vigil will be held tonight in remembrance of 13-year-old Brennan Loveless, who was killed while riding his bicycle near his home Sunday afternoon. The vigil will be held at 7:00 pm. on the track of Harpursville High School and all are welcome to attend. A memorial service for Loveless will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Maple Street in Harpursville on Friday, January 13th at 1, with calling hours from 11 to 1. 34 year old Bradley Law is being held in the Broome County Jail for striking Loveless with his pick up truck & fleeing the scene, he's been charged with criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.
The City of Norwich was recently approved for the $10 Million Dollar Downtown Revitalization Award, Commerce Chenango President & CEO Sal Testani told WCDO news about the process going forward:

Testani said that they believe that the projects funded through the DRI award can lead to further development & business growth in the future.
The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce announced their annual State of The State Networking Breakfast will be held Friday January 20 at SUNY Oneonta's Morris Hall, from 8:00 to 11:00 AM. Legislators scheduled to participate are Assemblymen Brian Miller & Chris Tague, Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek, among others. Reservations form Otsego County Chamber members are due by January 16th by calling 607-432-4500, extension 2.
The Chenango United Way and the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties announced that, the two organizations have officially combined as of January 1st, as the United Way of Mid Rural New York, Incorporated.  Campaign dollars that are raised in each county will stay in that county, the Executive Director will be Elizabeth Monaco, who has been the Executive Director of the Chenango United Way. The Chenango United Way also affiliated with the United Way of Madison County last year, that merger process will finalize in April 2023, the Madison United Way will combine under the United Way of Mid Rural New York name. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested of 41 year-old Travis Kinch of Downsville, for driving with a suspended Driver’s license. On Monday Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 30 in the Town of Colchester with an expired inspection. Upon conducting a traffic stop, A check of Kinch’s driver’s license revealed that his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Kinch was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operator, Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Failure to notify DMV of an address change, Kinch was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
31-year-old Kimberly Olsen of Edmeston has been arrested following an animal cruelty investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. Olsen allegedly mistreated several animals and was charged with 3 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance & 3 counts of abandonment of animal, Olsen was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Edmeston Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 59-year-old Carl Pritchard of Exeter
for overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper
sustenance and failure to provide appropriate shelter for dogs left
outside.  K. Pritchard was arrested after
Troopers responded to a complaint from a UPS driver who observed a dog whose
left leg appeared to be missing, The Susquehanna SPCA responded and a
veterinarian was contacted, who believed that Zoe had chewed off her own leg
after they observed bone fragments in her stomach, she also had previous
untreated injuries and scarred ear tips.
Zoe was transported to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine
for further care.  Pritchard surrender
Zoe due to his inability to pay for any vet bills, he is due to appear in the
town of Exeter court on December 4th.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes today held a
press conference regarding the potential for Major League Baseball of shutting
down about 1/4 of the minor league teams in the country, including the Rumble
Ponies.  Hughes said that NYSEG Stadium
is greatly improved & fully compliant with existing standards:

Hughes said that another factor
in closing down teams is the proximity of the team to the Major League Franchise;
obviously Binghamton is within 200 miles of Citi Field in Queens.  So far no decisions have been made, no
meetings have been held regarding this proposal & the 2020 season will be
played as scheduled.

State Police arrested 2 Pennsylvania residents following a
drug bust in Chenango County that seized thousands of dollars’ worth of
drugs.  28 year old Jordan Melendez and
24 year old Kimberly Rivas were arrested Thursday following the execution of
search warrants at multiple locations in Chenango County.  Police seized 1.5 pounds of Crystal Meth,
pure Fentanyl, 20 pounds of marihuana, 4 handguns, 16 illegally possessed long
guns Scales, Packaging materials & $3,350.00 in cash. Melendez & Rivas
were charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance & were
arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to Chenango County Jail
with no bail. The case remains under investigation, additional charges are
possible.
