Town of Sidney Board member Kevin Greene and Engineer Darius Palmer are exploring a plan to possibly turn part of the former Acco complex into an aviation college. A meeting was held Friday with local lawmakers, Economic Development experts & SUNY Delhi representatives to see if these plans could come to fruition, according to Kevin Greene:

Greene said that Palmer approached him with this idea after returning to Sidney after College, which called for aviation industry classes & training at the former Acco Building, which is right next to the Sidney Airport.
The State Attorney General’s Office has filed a lawsuit seeking to permanently ban the owners of Royalty Tobacco in the Price Chopper Plaza on Route 7 in Oneonta from selling vape products in the state. The owners of the business; Eysa Sharhan and Anmed Mozed have previously faced charges of selling vaporized tobacco to underage customers, they shut down their businesses and reopened under new names 3 times, the state Department of Health has levied $195,000 in fines against the illegal smoke shop owners, the latest action could shut them down permanently.

Binghamton Police charged 37 year-old Donald Beetlestone with attempted kidnapping, assault, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, he is accused of striking a young girl with a bottle in a Binghamton Price Chopper on Glenwood Avenue Friday evening and attempted to forcibly remove her from the store. Police reported that a female employee heard the struggle and intervened in an attempt to stop Beetlestone, a male customer physically restrained Beetlestone until police arrived. The unidentified 8 year old victim girl suffered a gash on her forehead as a result of the assault, Beetlestone is being held pending future court action.
State Police announced that Trooper Anna Aulino of the Troop C Margaretville barracks, was released from the hospital Friday, her vehicle was was struck by a vehicle head-on in Delhi on July 11th as she was driving home after her shift, she suffered serious injuries. 71-year-old Roger Hadley of Andes was operating a pick-up truck when he crossed over the double solid yellow line into Trooper Aulino's personal vehicle, he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were patrolling along State Highway 28 in the Town of Andes and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. 36-year-old Natasha Reed of Delhi was charged with Reckless Driving and issued a traffic summons for speeding, at approximately 94 miles an hour in a 55 zone. Reed was issued appearance tickets and released to appear at the Town of Andes Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Another recall due to listeria has been reported at Price Chopper, Market 32 and Big Y stores. The impacted products are select Market 32 by Price Chopper brand pre-made 10oz chicken wraps, sold in deli and food fare sections of the stores. Chicken Caesar, Buffalo Chicken, or Chicken Bacon Ranch wraps were affected, customers should throw out the wraps or return them for a full refund, so far, no Illnesses Reported Yet from This Recall.

Broome County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a white male regarding a larceny that occurred Monday at the Price Chopper at 33 Chenango Bridge Road in the Town of Chenango. The subject is believed to be in his early to mid-thirties, approximately 5’8”, wearing a blue Adidas sweatshirt, black pants, a camouflage face mask & red shoes. Delhi Telephone, or DTC, continues to expand their Fiber Optic internet & cable services around the county, they have completed the infrastructure in several locations, & they are currently wrapping up work in Walton, Spokesman Jason Miller told WCDO News where they go next:

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce announced that potential public transportation options for Delaware County will be the topic of a presentation on May 16 at 11:00 am in the Meeting Room of the Delaware County Business Center at 5 ½ Main Street in Delhi. The Chamber has been working with County and State officials, private transportation operators, healthcare and human service organizations, regional employers, and national transportation associations on a 7-month study of public transit options. Delaware County Department of Emergency Services has received a shipment of disposable masks from the State and starting today, they are being distributed to a variety of locations in the County. The masks can be found in Delhi at the Price Chopper & County Office Buildings, in Walton at the Big M & Delaware County Mental Health Facility, in Deposit at the Big M & DMV office & in Sidney at the Price Chopper, Great American and DMV. The masks will be free to anyone in the community and will be on a first come first serve basis.

New York Attorney General Letitia James today announced an agreement with the Price Chopper & Tops Friendly Market supermarket chains, where they will divest themselves of 12 stores located around the state, in connection with the companies' proposed merger, in order to promote competition & keep groceries prices from going up even more than they have been. The agreement resolves an 8-month investigation that the Office of the Attorney General conducted with the Federal Trade Commission, it will continue to keep union jobs in the stores. Price Chopper and Tops have closed on the merger the 2 companies today, The stores will keep their names and management but will be owned by a new parent company called Northeast Grocery. Delaware County Sheriff's Investigators arrested 40-year-old Kelly Abbes, also known as Kelly Zimmerman, for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, 4th degree Conspiracy, Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument & Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Abbes is accused of selling Heroin in the Village of Stamford and then conspiring to obtain and sell Heroin, she was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and was ordered held in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
