27 year old Alexander Schwarz of Roxbury, was sentenced to a 4-month term of incarceration in the County Jail for violating the conditions of his probation supervision. Schwarz was convicted in Greene County for Attempted Sexual Abuse and was sentenced to a 10-year term of probation supervision. On March 19th, he violated the terms of his probation imposed by the Greene County Court by using an unauthorized device to view pornographic material, Schwarz appeared in Delaware County Court this week & admitted to the violation, he was sentenced to 4 months in the Delaware County Jail, then he will be required to complete his 10-year term of probation supervision.
Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force seized a handgun during a search warrant on Wednesday on a vehicle and at 11 Pine Street in Binghamton. Investigators located A loaded handgun, ammunition, $764.00 in suspected drug proceeds & Items used for packaging and weighing narcotics, 45 year old Grady Hunter of Binghamton, was arrested on 2 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and he was transported to the Binghamton Police Department for processing,

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35 year old Tadd Sherwood of Morris following the investigation of a physical Domestic Dispute that took place May 26th in Morris. A Bench Warrant had been issued by the Otsego County Supreme Court based on this information as the Defendant had been previously charged and released on bail for Criminal Mischief, Assault, Criminal Contempt & other charges. Sherwood was arraigned at the Otsego County Supreme Court regarding this Bench Warrant and was charged with Criminal Contempt, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault, Criminal Mischief & Disobeying a Court Mandate, he was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $5000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 30 year old Scott Conrad of Walton pleaded guilty to 3rd Degree Burglary & Aggravated Harassment. Conrad admitted that he kicked down the door of his ex-girlfriend’s home and after an altercation & spat on her. A child was present during the Burglary, he will be sentenced to 6 months of incarceration in the County Jail and a 5-year term of felony probationary supervision.

The Delaware County Sheriff's office announced that on May 9th, Deputies were dispatched to respond to a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Town of Delhi. 41 year old Akila Kerr of Delhi, was the driver of the vehicle, Deputies suspected alcohol was a factor & conducted field sobriety tests. Kerr was charged with Driving While Impaired and Driving with a BAC of 0.08% or higher, as well as speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right and move from lane unsafely. Kerr was released on appearance tickets and scheduled to appear before the Town of Delhi Court.
Delhi Village Police, assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the State Police Computer Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 2 residences in the Town of Walton, where a quantity of electronic devices was seized by the police. Officers arrested former Waton Town Supervisor Joseph Hanley on a Sealed Indictment Warrant issued by the Delaware County Supreme Court, he was charged by Grand Jury indictment with Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Attempted Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor. Hanley was remanded to the Delaware County Jail pending arraignment before the Delaware County Supreme Court.

Terry DeCutler of Sidney & Nicholas DeCutler of Unadilla were sentenced in Otsego County Court, to 20 years to life in prison, for the murder of Kaleb O'Neill in Oneonta on Memorial Day last year. The DeCutler brothers both pleaded guilty to 2nd degree Murder, for the fatal stabbing of O'Neill in an alley near Dietz Street in downtown Oneonta.
The Delaware County Chamber has released a New Toolkit for Businesses, called the "Fair Chance Hiring Toolkit, for businesses, nonprofits, and government units about hiring individuals with criminal records. Delaware County Chamber President Ray Pucci told WCDO news about eh toolkit:

Hussain is the owner of Prestige Limousine, he is charged with criminally negligent homicide and second-degree manslaughter in connection with the 2018 crash in Schoharie that killed 17 passengers, the driver and 2 people in a gas staion in Schoharie, where the vehicle's safety is in question.

Otsego County Department of Health is announcing a potential COVID 19 exposure at the Copper Fox at 7 Market Street in Oneonta.  Anyone who spent time at the bar between November 12th through November 17th should monitor for symptoms, if you have developed symptoms, get tested and isolate yourself.  The Copper Fox is closed for a minimum of 7 days and all staff will be tested, more information is available at 547-4231.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-car property damage accident on State Highway 206 in the Town of Colchester last Friday, where a vehicle and trailer driven by 32-year-old Stephen Depuy of Downsville was making a turn from State Highway 206 on to Hill Top Drive when his trailer was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 84 year-old Eugene Marner of Franklin.  Deputies charged Depuy with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and being an unlicensed driver.  Marner was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent.  Both drivers were released on traffic summonses directing them to appear in the Town of Colchester Court on a later date to answer their charges.

People have been captivated by the story of the little owl that was transported to New York City from West Oneonta last week, on the Tree that is being set up for the Christmas holidays in Rockefeller Center.  Susan O'Hanley of the Delaware Otsego Audubon Society told WCDO News that they believe that the owl was on the tree through the whole process & made the trip to the city:

O'Hanley said that many have commented to the Society that the Owl should be brought back to West Oneonta, the Society members feel that the additional travel would be too stressful & that he will assimilate to the Owl population in the Hudson Valley.

Otsego County Department of Health reported 18 new COVID cases Wednesday, the number of cases in the county since March is up to 1128, with 58 active cases,  1 hospitalized,  8 deaths,  760 cases are now linked to SUNY Oneonta & 67 at Hartwick College.
Delaware County Public Health had 3 new cases of COVID 19 to report Wednesday, with 53 active cases, 6 are hospitalized, and 197 are quarantined.  Delaware County has had 289 cases, 227 recoveries & 9 deaths.

Delaware County Solid Waste Management Center & Compost facility is open but with reduced staff.  Spokesman Tyson Robb asks that County residents try to hold off on bringing recyclables to the Center at this time:

Robb said that hours are currently Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, they also suggest that visitors to the Center try to get in & out as quickly as possible.
Broome County Health department announced that they have 93 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus.  Officials reported 6 deaths, 14 recoveries, 53 in Precautionary Quarantine, 194 in precautionary quarantine, they have conducted 700 tests.

Delaware County is reporting no new cases of the Coronavirus.  There are 42 confirmed positive cases, with 36 people under mandatory quarantine and 2 people under precautionary quarantine. To date 289 people have been tested, 5 confirmed cases have been transferred out of the county to where the person actually resides. Of the 37 confirmed positive cases, 6 are isolated in a hospital, 23 are recovering at home, 1 person is deceased and 7 have fully recovered.
The Otsego County Department of Health is reporting a 2nd death from COVID 19, they currently have 35 confirmed cases, 5 are hospitalized, 12 have recovered, 94 people on mandatory quarantine, 4 people on precautionary quarantine, 46 people have been released from quarantine.
The State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet today at 10:30 AM to consider petitions for rehearing of the Siting Board’s December 2019 approval of Bluestone Wind, LLC’s application for Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to build and operate a 124-megawatt wind facility in the Towns of Windsor and Sanford.   The parties seeking rehearing are Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society, Broome County Concerned Residents and a resident of the Village of Johnson City. Bluestone Wind applied to construct and operate 27 wind turbines & its associated network, to reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, member of the public will be able to listen at dps.ny.gov/Webcasts.

The Otsego County Department of Health announced that they now have 21 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus.  2 of those patients are hospitalized, 2 have fully recovered and are off isolation & there has been 1 death.  103 people on mandatory quarantine,  6 people on precautionary quarantine & 26 people have been released from quarantine.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating complaints of vandalism to an agricultural field in the Town of Hamden.   A vehicle was identified as a result of surveillance camera images, Deputies arrested 18 year-old Austin Moxham of Delhi with driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to display a front license plate,  unlawful possession of marihuana & criminal mischief.   Moxham was issued appearance tickets for Town of Hamden Court on a later date.

Delaware County has had its first death from the coronavirus; the deceased had been hospitalized with the disease and died Wednesday.  Delaware County has 20 positive cases so far, excluding 3 positive tests that were returned to their county of residence.  2 people have recovered, 10 are recovering at Home, 6 are hospitalized, 43 are in Mandatory Quarantine & 9 are in Precautionary Quarantine, 182 people have been tested.
