Governor Cuomo welcomed the Floating Naval Hospital to New
York City today, giving the city added help for its beleaguered Hospitals at
the epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Cuomo said that the number of positive cases statewide is 66,497, the
number of deaths jumped to 1,218, the number Hospitalized is now over 9500, the
number of ICU Beds occupied is 2352, & the number discharged from hospitals
is now 4202. The statistics also showed
that the rate of increase is slowing down:

Governor Cuomo also said that too many people are treating
the "Stay At Home" mandate like it was optional:

Local officials have expressed concern that too many people
are leaving the most affected areas and are coming to Otsego & Delaware
Counties to wait it out, and they could be driving up the local numbers &
threatening the local population and healthcare systems.

Chenango County Health Department announced this morning that they have 14 positive cases of the Coronavirus, with 10 more positives over the weekend. Otsego County also had 14 Positives with 1 death, Delaware County Had 12; Broome County has 29, with 3 deaths.

South Central New York has released $110,000 in grants to organizations
providing services during the COVID-19 Crisis in the region. The Friends of Recovery
Delaware/Otsego will receive $5,000, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier will
get $7,500 for meal delivery programs, Delaware Opportunities receives $15,000
for meal delivery programs, Chenango United Way gets $15,000 for their
community response, Opportunities for Otsego receives $15,000 for their
community response to COVID-19, & ARC of Delaware County receives $2,500
for the Walton Food Pantry. More

of the Corona Virus in the State, with 965 deaths, over 8500 are in Hospitals,

will be extended for the next 2 weeks; the state nonessential workforce will
continue to work from home for an additional two weeks through April 15th.
Executive Orders regarding the closing of restaurants and bars, gyms, movie

amusement facilities; barber shops & salons are also extended until April
15th.

A man arrested by Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators on September 29th on a heroin possession charge was arrested again on Tuesday & charged with 2 additional felony drug charges. 31 year old Sean Dingle of Binghamton and Queens was charged Tuesday with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, with intent to sell & Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing and selling heroin in the Town of Sidney in September. Dingle was arraigned in Town of Sidney Court on the new charges; his previous set $50,000 bail was subsequently raised by Judge Rose, who remanded Dingle to the Delaware County Jail on $250,000 cash bail.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 63-year-old Patricia Carlson of Delhi on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Delhi Justice Court for Failing to Appear at her scheduled court date October 9th. Carlson was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Justice Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. A felony hearing has been rescheduled for Friday in the Delhi Town Court.

Delaware County Public Health Services announces that the next free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats, and ferrets today from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Delhi Fire Hall at 140 Delview Terrace. The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, the Oneonta Lion’s Club and Hannaford of Oneonta, will be holding a food drive at the 2015 Oneonta Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 31st at 7:00 PM. All food and monetary donations will be given directly to Opportunities for Otsego and the Salvation Army Food Pantry to help defray the loss that both agencies will incur this year by the Holiday Train not making its annual visit to Oneonta. Volunteers from United Way will be on hand at the Halloween Parade with shopping carts donated by Hannaford to collect non-perishable food items. More information is available at 434-2458. United Way of Delaware & Otsego Counties has been awarded Federal Funds through FEMA Under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program “Set Aside” Funds. Otsego County has been chosen to receive $24,410 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county and related administrative fees with Opportunities for Otsego, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, The Lord’s Table, St. Mary’s food pantry and First Presbyterian Church of Worcester, participating, they provided 104,435 meals, 164 nights of lodging and assist 23 households with emergency utilities.

Delaware Opportunities will continue its participation in the Nutrition Outreach and Education Program for 4 more years through a contract with Hunger Solutions New York. The goal is to increase the number of eligible people participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and the School Breakfast and Summer Food Service programs. State Police reported that last Tuesday Night, at about 11:00 pm, Trooper Timothy West, Jr., responded to a Delaware Co 911 report of a child-birth in progress in a vehicle on State Highway 28 in Franklin. Trooper West located the vehicle, and observed a woman who was in labor, assisting the woman as the child was born safely in her vehicle. Both the mother and newborn appeared to be in good health, they were taken by Ambulance to Fox Hospital & were doing fine. Police said that the woman declined to be identified.
The Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will hold a meeting Today from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the Delaware Opportunities building, on State Route 10 in Hamden. The Council advises and assists the Early Intervention Program for children birth to age 3 with developmental delays. More information is available at 832-5200.
