Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Met with Commerce Chenango Members and held a Zoom Meeting with area business owners & leaders of Non Profit organizations, discussing the various problems they are facing because of the pandemic.  Congresswoman Tenney said that 2 items that the keeps hearing about  it the importance of helping Small businesses, and finally getting broadband service to all sectors of the 22nd district & beyond:

Tenney also scheduled a visit to Chenango Memorial Hospital this afternoon to tour the renovations underway at the facility in Norwich.
State Police and local law enforcement will be participating in the national "U Drive, U Text, U Pay" mobilization to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month nationwide, & Law enforcement throughout the state will be stepping up patrols during this enforcement initiative, which runs today through Monday, April 12th.  The initiative follows the recent death of Trooper Joe Gallagher, who died last month from injuries sustained in 2017 when he was struck by a vehicle where the driver was distracted by texting on a cellphone.
Chenango County Public Health reported 12 new COVID 19 cases today; they have 114 Active Cases, 7 hospitalized & 346 Active Quarantines. The County reported 2912 Confirmed Cases with 2655 Recoveries & they have tested over 96700 patients.
Chenango County Health Department is hosting a Single Dose Vaccine clinic at the Old Label Shopper on Today from 2:00 to 5:30 pm for Eligible Individuals 18 and older.  Registration is available at co.chenango.ny.us
Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic today at 97 Main Street Delhi from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Registration is mandatory, at apps2.health.ny.gov/doh2.  Public Health reported 16 new COVID 19 cases yesterday, out of 425 tested; they have 157 active cases, 308 quarantined & 10 hospitalized.

State police arrested Charles Walsh of Sidney on charges of assault, criminal nuisance & unlawful possession of a firearm, & criminal possession of marijuana following an investigation into a domestic dispute in the village of Sidney. Walsh is accused of striking a person & burning a telephone cord to prevent that victim from calling police. Walsh was arraigned & remanded to the Delaware county jail on $5,000 cash bail pending future court action.
State Police arrested 57 year old David Bailey of Sidney on charges of sexual abuse, & endangering the welfare of a child. Bailey is accused of inappropriately touching a child, and sending inappropriate messages to the same child on social media, he was arraigned & was sent to the Delaware County jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond pending future court action.
17 year old Michael Stimpson of Laurens was indicted by an Otsego County Grand Jury on 4 counts of 1st degree sexual abuse. Stimpson is accused of inappropriately touching a child under the age of 11; he faces arraignment on the charges shortly.
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will honor local businesses at their 2018 Business Awards today at 5:30 pm at Delaware County FoodWorks+, in Andes. Delaware County Sheriff Deputy’s arrested 48 year old Jason Lupo of Delhi for 3rd degree Assault, following a domestic dispute. Lupo was arranged in Town of Delhi Court and released to reappear at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to State route 10 near Beers Brook Road in the Town of Walton to assist the Walton Fire Department following a grass fire. The Investigation determined that the fire was caused by a projectile firework; Deputies arrested 26 year old Brett McLaughlin of Hancock, with Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks, and for violating the State’s Burn Ban. DEC Law prohibits open burning between March 16th to May 14th. McLaughlin was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Walton Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a reported theft of a road sign in the Town of Delhi that led to the recovery of numerous highway signs & Coldwell Banker/Timberland Properties real estate signs. Deputies reported that they recovered more than 30 signs and charged 18 year old Russell Storey of Andes, 18 year old Dylan Reed of Margaretville, NY, and an unidentified 17 year old Roxbury male with Grand Larceny & Criminal Mischief & they also charged 20 year old Darian Scudder of Halcottsville with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. All 4 suspects were issued appearance tickets for Town of Middletown Court at a later date.
Delaware County Public Health will be presenting Lori Benson Adams of Breakthrough Learning Solutions; she will discuss Executive Functioning Skills in Children. The conference will be held at SUNY Delhi on May 22nd from 9:00 am until 3:00pm. Benson Adams will explore strategies to help children strengthen their executive function skills; registration is requested through Delaware County Public Health at 832-5200.
Governor Cuomo has named Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas as the special prosecutor to investigate allegations that former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman physically abused 4 women. Schneiderman resigned on Monday following the publishing of an article in "The New Yorker" where the women accused Schneiderman of striking them.

Governor Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie today announced an agreement on the 2015-16 State Budget. The Budget agreement includes landmark education reforms and investment, an ethics package with the nation's strongest disclosure laws for legislators with outside income, and new investments in rebuilding and growing the state's economy, including $1.5 billion for the Upstate Revitalization Initiative and $500 million to make New York the first in the nation to have statewide broadband. A Stamford Probationer was arrested on a Probation Violation Warrant after being tracked for miles through the woods by Delaware County Deputies, K-9 “Ozzie”, Probation Officers and a New York State EnCon Officer. 25 year old Jesse Papas of Stamford fled from a window of his residence and ran into the woods, without footwear, as Probation Officers attempted to execute their warrant Friday morning. Papas was tracked by K-9 “Ozzie”, and was taken into custody, in the Schoharie County Town of Gilboa. Papas was transported to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, Upon his release from Fox Hospital, Papas was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail, pending his next scheduled court appearance on April 14.
On Thursday afternoon Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a woman on drug charges as a result of their investigation of a 911 call reporting a female acting strangely. Deputies arrested and charged 28 year old Jennifer Day of Hobart with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Deputies located and seized a liquid substance from the residence, identified as PCP. Day was transported to an area hospital Tuesday evening for medical evaluation and treatment. Day was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1000 cash bail pending further court action.
Town Supervisors, Village and City Mayors, Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals Chairmen, Zoning Enforcement Officers in Otsego, Schoharie and Delaware Counties are reminded to register soon for the Land Use Training Workshops for Local Government Officials on April 9th at the Meadows Complex in Cooperstown. The Otsego County Planning Department will host training classes on two separate evenings beginning in April. Both classes will be presented by representative of the New York State Department of State. These classes may meet the state training requirement for local government officials. Both workshops will be held at the Meadows Office Complex, County Highway 33W next to the County Public Safety building. The Delaware County Broadband Initiative was awarded $2.9 million in matching New York State grant funding by the Southern Tier Economic Development Council following Governor Cuomo’s annual Regional Council Awards Ceremony on Thursday. The DCBI project will extend broadband services to the un-served residents and businesses, with over 210 miles of fiber optic facilities passing 1800 un-served and underserved households, businesses, and institutions in several towns in Delaware County.
