been awarded $10,000 by the MultiPlan Rural Health Grant Program to help launch
a food “farmacy” based at its Tri-Town Campus in Sidney. Spokesperson Sarah Buttice comments:

The prescription food location will open in January; Buttice
said that they will partner with local businesses including Great American,
Price Chopper, Hannaford, the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, as
well as local farms and food pantries.
In Delaware County, it is estimated that more than 8,400 people suffer
from hunger.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of 48-year-old Mark Barnett of Ocala Florida, for a plan to set off explosives at Target stores in Upstate New York. Barnett was arrested after discussing the plot with a wired informant, his plans called for explosions in up to 10 Target stores starting in Syracuse & then traveling south back to Florida, in to buy Target store stock at an expected lower price per share after the bombings, and then sell the stock for a profit when the price returned to higher levels.

April is Alcohol & Drug Abuse Awareness Month, and with prom & graduation seasons coming soon, it is important to remember that those events have been incorrectly viewed by generations as a rite of passage for teenagers to be introduced to alcohol, according to Dave Ramsey of the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council of Delaware County:

Home sales were down 1.8% statewide in the 1st quarter of the year after reaching a 6-year high in 2013, according to the state Association of Realtors. The report showed 18,790 closed sales statewide in the first quarter of 2014, down from 19,143 in the same period of 2013. Pending sales also fell 5.6% in the 1st three months this year, while new listings dropped 7.6% from a year ago. The median sales price for homes sold statewide was $227,000, a 5.1% increase from 2013’s first quarter.
