54 Baseball Hall of Fame members are expected to return, July 27 to the 30th, to celebrate the induction of the Hall of Fame Class of 2018. This year's inductees are Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Chipper Jones, Jack Morris, Jim Thome and Alan Trammell, they will be inducted on Sunday, July 29, with the Induction Ceremony beginning at 1:30 PM at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies are currently investigating the theft of heavy duty York rake owned by the Town of Hancock Highway Department. The orange, heavy duty tow behind York brand rake was stolen from a highway pull off near the intersection of Charles Medlar Road and Bert Medlar Road in the Town of Hancock between Tuesday, July 3, and Monday, July 10. The rake has wheels and is 8 feet in width. Deputies are asking the public to contact the Delaware County Sheriff's Office 832-5555, or 287-4759.

State Police in Oneonta are currently looking for 16 year old Alyssa Jones of Oneonta, she was last seen on Friday July 28th at about 10:00 PM at the Bunga Wiz Festival in Laurens. She is described as a black female who is 5′ 01″ with a muscular build. She was last seen wearing pink shorts, a gray tank top and flip flops. Right-wing radio host Alex Jones apologized on his “Info Wars” show Wednesday and retracted false stories about Chobani regarding their Twin Falls Idaho Plant, and some of their refugee workers. Jones had previously accused Chobani employees' children in connection with the rape of a 5-year-old girl in Twin Falls. Chobani sued Jones on April 24, accusing him of posting false and defamatory information, regarding both the alleged crime; Jones also claimed that Chobani was linked to an increase in tuberculosis in the area. Twin Falls is home to a $450 million Chobani plant that employs more than 1,000 employees; they also operate a plant in Chenango County.
The Norwich Fire Department is the recipient of a nearly $90,000 grant to purchase a new vehicle exhaust extraction system. U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced the grant was made, through the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

24-year-old Joshua Theisen, of Suffolk County was pronounced deceased following an ATV crash into a drainage ditch on Jones Road in the town of New Lisbon. Otsego County Sheriff's Office reported that Theisen was not wearing a helmet and was ejected off the ATV, which landed on top of him, suffered a severe head injury & died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries.
New York will receive $343 million in heating and home energy assistance from the Department of Health and Human Services. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand joined a bipartisan group of 46 Senators, in urging HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell, to release Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding as quickly as possible, to ensure more families can access resources they need to heat their homes this winter. A mid-level appeals court reversed a lower court’s decision to throw out petition signatures of a Republican state Senate candidate. The state Supreme Court Appellate Division ruled the lower court erred in rejecting the petitions of Tioga County businessman Denver Jones, who is seeking to unseat State Senator Tom Libous of Binghamton. On August 1st the state Board of Elections determined 743 of the 1,713 signatures Jones submitted in July were invalid due to residency issues and other problems. The new order states a total of 203 signatures are reinstated, giving Jones more than required 1,000 signatures. The decision is not final, the case was sent back to the lower court for further proceedings.
The Drug Enforcement Administration will enforce tighter control over prescriptions of the painkiller hydrocodone. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer said hydrocodone would be moved from a Schedule III drug to a Schedule II in 45 days. This will mean greater restrictions in how doctors can prescribe the drug as well as the quantity that can be prescribed. According to the DEA, nearly seven million Americans abuse controlled-substance prescription medications, including opioid painkillers that contain hydrocodone.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer will introduce a bill called ‘Avonte's law.’ The bill would create a program that provides and pays for tracking devices for at-risk children with autism. Schumer said it would be similar to a Federal program that tracks seniors with Alzheimer’s disease. 14 year-old Avonte Oquendo disappeared after running out of his school last October. His remains were found in the East River last week.
State Police at Oneonta arrested 27 year old Matt Jones and 32 year old Jeremy Ferguson, both of Oneonta, on charges of 4th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, following a traffic stop on Main Street in Oneonta Saturday night.  Jones was also charged with 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.  Jones and Ferguson were sent to the Chenango County jail on bail.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 29-year-old Jamell Shannon of Binghamton, 41 year old Charles Jones of new Hartford Connecticut and 30 year old Natasha Castillo of Binghamton on a variety of drug charges, following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at 15 Williams Street, in Binghamton. Police confiscated crack cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale used to weigh narcotics plus various prescription pain killers.  Castillo was processed and released on an appearance ticket for City of Binghamton Court on a later date. Shannon and Jones are both being held at the Binghamton Police Department pending arraignment in the City of Binghamton Court.
