The Endicott Police Department arrested 44 year old David Scanlin for 3rd degree burglary, Grand Larceny and & 3rd degree Arson. Back on January 11th, Scanlin is accused of setting fire to a vehicle parked at J&K Auto Clinic, later that day, Scanlin is accused of stealing a vehicle on the lot at Tank's Auto Sales. Scanlin was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the availability of up to $7.5 million for state-certified providers and other treatment programs to establish low threshold services to address opioid addiction. The funding will provide up to $500,000 for 15 programs statewide to offer low threshold services, certified treatment providers, clinics by the state Office of Mental Health, hospitals, and harm reduction programs are eligible to apply for the funding.

State Police arrested 31year old Jesse Sklenarik of Oneonta, for Attempted Petty Larceny, after a trooper was dispatched to a report of a larceny in progress at Certified Auto. When the trooper arrived, an employee was holding down Sklenarik after he allegedly attempted to cut the catalytic converter off a vehicle on their property. Sklenarik was released on an appearance ticket to the Oneonta Town Court on October 18th.

The Broome County Department of Public Works' Engineering Division will host a public information session on September 20th, about the Colesville Road Safety Improvement project. The project calls for the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Colesville Road, North Road, and Sanitaria Springs Road, the meeting was called to get input from local residents about the proposal. The meeting will be September 20th at 7:00 PM at 780 Welton Street, Harpursville.

An investigation into the theft of numerous catalytic converters reported in Otsego County has resulted in the arrest of 38 year old Joshua Dresser of Schenevus. Dresser has been charged with several counts of Auto Stripping, Grand Larceny, & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 1 count of Criminal Mischief for allegedly cutting off & stealing Catalytic converters from vehicles from numerous locations. Dresser was released on appearance tickets for 3 town courts in the coming weeks.
Governor Hochul issued an Executive Order declaring a State Disaster Emergency, increasing the availability of resources to protect New Yorkers against polio. The Order immediately expands the network of polio vaccine administrators with the addition of EMS workers, midwives, and pharmacists and authorizes physicians and certified nurse practitioners to issue non-patient specific standing orders for polio vaccines. The order also requires healthcare providers to send polio immunization data to the State Department of Health All New Yorkers who are unvaccinated should get immunized right away.

State Police are looking for the public’s help in finding a man who stole vehicle parts recently. Police stated that on June 27th and July 19th, a man operating a white Chevrolet Silverado stole scrap brake rotors from Sidney Tire, also on June 27th, he was observed at Certified Auto in Oneonta, taking truck tires and 5 rims into the same white Chevrolet Silverado. The man is described as a white male with short darker hair, between 30 -40 years old, wearing a dark t-shirt, dark pants, dark shoes with white soles. Anyone with information should call State Police at 561-7400.

45-year-old Robert Wheeler of Milford has been charged with 3rd & 4th degree grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $4,000 worth of auto parts and accessories. Wheeler was charged following a complaint that he ordered 2 shipments of auto parts last year and refused to pay for them. Wheeler faces court action on August 4th.
Delaware County Public Health and The Village of Sidney Police will be providing a Car Seat Safety Event at the Sidney McDonalds tomorrow from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. 73% of car seats are used or installed incorrectly; Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be there to show how to correctly install and use a child’s safety or booster seat. There is no fee, for this service, participants should bring the vehicle owner’s manual and car seat manual to the event. More information is available at 832-5200.
