State Police arrested 21 year old Ryan Morris of Pennsville, New Jersey for Driving While Intoxicated and Petit Larceny. A Trooper was dispatched to the town of Caroline for a report of a person on a side by side, stealing road signs, The Trooper located Morris, who failed the Field Sobriety Tests, he was processed, his B.A.C was .17%. He was issued appearance tickets to the Caroline Town Court on August 25, 2025.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office reported that a Binghamton man who led police agencies on a manhunt, was taken into custody today. Christopher Borges of Binghamton led police on a manhunt covering several hours, he was located and taken into custody around 10:07 am. on Deerfield Lane in the Town of Caroline without incident. Charges against Borges include kidnapping, robbery and criminal contempt.

State police have cancelled an adult Amber Alert, as the elderly missing person has been located. 92 year old Beverly Cleveland was in good health at a motel in Owego& & she has been turned over to family members. Cleveland was reported missing over the weekend from the Town of Caroline in Tompkins County, she reportedly became disoriented while driving to her home in Trumansburg.

Police agencies in Tioga County executed a search warrant in Newark Valley, leading to the seizure of an active meth-amphetamine lab and the arrest of 6 people.   Charged were 23 year old Scott Cole, of Newark Valley, 29 year old Jamie Swackhammer of Newark Valley, 31 year old Bryan Burkard of Berkshire, 48 year old Theresa Cochran of Caroline, 23 year old Kara Smithgall, of Endicott, & 28 year old Melanie Short of Berkshire.  police executed a search warrant at the Cole and Swackhammer residence Tuesday at 5:00 PM and confiscated items used to  manufacture methamphetamine, all were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance; they were arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail.  Further charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.

The state Education Department released the list of 16 “persistently dangerous schools” & the Sidney middle school made the list again, the education department stated in their report that stated that schools are placed on the list when there are persistent reports of violent and disruptive incidents. Other upstate schools on the list were in Peekskill, Caroline, Berkshire, Greenburgh; South Seneca and Andover.
