41 year old Trevor Metterhauser of Pennsylvania was sentenced in a New York Federal Court room to 80 years in prison plus multiple fines for attempted aggravated sexual abuse, aggravated sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of children, and multiple counts of possession of child pornography, involving 2 toddlers, 1 in the Southern Tier & the other in Texas. As part of his guilty plea, Metterhauser admitted he conspired with Brandon Whitford to sexually exploit an a 4-year-old girl in New York & record the abuse, Metterhauser also traveled to Texas where he conspired with Carlos Ruiz to sexually assault a 2-year-old child and to record that abuse. Co-Conspirators Whitford and Ruiz have each pleaded guilty in connection with this case.

The Mid-York Concert Band has awarded a $1,000 Jones-Sterchak Memorial Scholarship to a student from Oneida County this year, Band Director Doug Ernst explains:

State Police announced that 18 year old Dalton Malmstrom of Nichols, who was reported missing Saturday, was found deceased in the Susquehanna River by the State Police Under Water Recovery Team and members of the K9 unit. Troopers were assisted by members of the Nichols Fire Department. Malmstrom was last seen leaving his residence in Nichols, at approximately 7:45 am. on Saturday.

State Police are reminding motorists to obey the states "Move Over Law" after a state trooper on duty in his patrol car in Westchester County, had a truck crashed into his vehicle early Tuesday morning. Trooper Carlos Desilva was monitoring traffic from inside his troop car on the shoulder of I-87 when he was struck by a truck that drifted off the roadway and slammed into Desilva's marked cruiser. State Police said the vehicle sustained heavy damage, Trooper Desilva was taken to an area hospital & was treated & released.
On Wednesday November 24th, 2021, the Town of Walton Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of 41 year old Robert Smith of Walton, for failing to appear at court on a prior charge of criminal possession of stolen property. Delaware County Sheriff’ Deputies located Smith Tuesday in the Town of Walton, and arrested him on the bench warrant. Smith was arraigned at the Town of Walton Court and was released again in his own recognizance.

State Police arrested 33 year old Carlos Smith of Utica, for torturing, injuring & failing to feed 6 dogs left at his former residence in the town of Davenport in December.  Smith was officially charged with 6 counts of failing to provide proper sustenance to animals; a warrant was issued for his arrest, which occurred late Thursday afternoon.

State Police are searching for 33 year old Carlos Smith, Formerly of Davenport, after troopers discovered Deceased dogs & Puppies in a crat outside his residence in December.  Smith is accused of failing to provide sustenance & proper care to the dogs; he is described as a Black male, 5'9" tall, about 130 pounds with black & Brown Hair & brown Eyes.  Anyone with information should contact the state police at 432-3211 or crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.

A state judge has ordered New York’s Department of Health to release records about nursing home residents who died of COVID-19 in hospitals; the order comes just a week after a report by Attorney General Letitia James' office showed nursing home deaths in the state could have been under-counted by as much as 50%.  State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker has categorized deaths by location, so if a nursing home resident died in a hospital, it was listed as a hospital death.
