Governor Kathy Hochul & Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin wrote an op-ed piece in a Downstate news paper this week, they claimed that New York's Bail Reform doesn't need to be repealed, but there are changes needed to the law. Governor Hochul wrote that problems that needs to be addressed include Repeat offenders, those accused of hate crimes, judges should be allowed to set bail; even if the crime would not currently be bail-eligible. The Governor wrote that judges should be able to set bail in all felony cases involving illegal guns, including guns given or sold to minors, & in crimes involving guns, judges should be able to set more restrictive pretrial conditions

Chenango River Theatre’s 14th annual Winter Gala will be held at the Genegantslet Golf Club this Saturday from 6:00 – 9:30pm. The evening includes both a Silent and Live Auction, according to Theater Director Zach Curtis:

Curtis Cuttino & Michael McVicker of York Pennsylvania
were indicted Friday by a Tioga County grand jury on a variety of felony charges,
in connection with the fatal shooting of Brian Argro in his Apalachin Home May
9th. Cuttino has been indicted for 1st
& 2nd degree murder, 1st-degree burglary, 2nd-degree kidnapping and
Criminal possession of a weapon;
McVicker was indicted for 2nd degree murder, 1st-degree burglary,
2nd-degree kidnapping and criminal possession of a weapon. Both men are being held without bail pending
additional court action.

State Police arrested 40 year old Curtis Cuttino & 46
year old Michael McVicker, both of York Pennsylvania for 2nd degree Murder
after a home invasion in Apalachin Thursday morning. Troopers were dispatched to 5 Dorothy Road at
approximately 5:55 a.m., Thursday for a report of a shooting, troopers found 32
year old Brian Argro dead inside, A
20-year-old female acquaintance was not harmed, she told troopers that 2 men
came to the house, knocked on the door & were let in by Argro, a scuffle
ensued, Shots were fired, Argro was killed & the suspects fled on
foot. Tioga County Sheriff’s Deputies
located Cuttino on State Route 434, State Police and the Monticello Police
Department arrested McVicker later on Thursday, he was returned to
Binghamton. Both suspects were later
remanded to the Tioga County Jail on without bail. Police are looking into how
Cuttino and McVicker arrived in Apalachin; anyone with information can contact
State Police at 561-7400.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a Domestic Dispute Monday on Town Shed Road in the Town of Deposit. Deputies arrested 36-year-old Brian Curtis of Deposit for 3rd degree Assault, Criminal Mischief & 3rd degree Robbery, he was arranged in Town of Deposit Court & he was released on $500 cash bail and is to reappear in the Town of Deposit Court at a later date.

State Police have arrested 9 people in connection with an Oneida County child sex trafficking ring. 30 year old Edward Tilden 23 year old Alexandria Davall and 25-year-old Lynnette Tilden are accused of using Backpage.com to advertise and sell sexual favors, sometimes involving an underage victim. They were charged with felony sex trafficking. Police also arrested 28-year-old Michael Olsen, and 56-year-old David Jamrosz, for criminal sex act, 22-year-old Michael Curcio and 32-year-old Rosheen Brooks were charged with rape, 61-year-old Jakeem Penn and 61-year-old Curtis O'Dell were charged with endangering the welfare of a child. State Police believe more people have been trafficked within this ring, and are public input at 315 366-6000.
Oneonta state Troopers arrested 34-year-old Brian Hassick of Cooperstown, and 35-year-old Cheryl Rifenbark of Westford, for Possession of a Forged Instrument. Hassick and Rifenbark were arraigned in the Town of Westford Court and remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail each.
