State Police responded to a report of a child in distress at a swimming pool at the Binghamton Country Club on Robinson Hill Road. Upon the Troopers’ arrival, bystanders and lifeguards had already initiated lifesaving measures for an unresponsive 11-year-old boy, Troopers assisted in those efforts until the child was transported by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center and subsequently flown to Upstate University Hospital, where the child passed away. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office following further examination. No foul play is suspected at this time.

State Police arrested 41 year old Donatello Lazarati of Baldwinsville for Bail Jumping and Criminal Contempt, following a violation of a court order issued following his arraignment on a previous Grand Larceny charge. Lazarati was prohibited from leaving the United States and was directed to surrender his passport. Lazarati failed to comply with those conditions, State Police were notified Thursday that Lazarati was attempting to leave the United States and purchased an airline ticket to Qatar at John F. Kennedy International Airport, he was arrested at the airport, brought back to Troop C, and was processed in and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $35,000 cash, $50,000 credit or $250,000 partially secured bond.

State Police are renewing efforts in the investigation into the homicide of Barry Marquart of Oneonta, a case that has remained unsolved for more than 45 years. Marquart was reported missing on November 9, 1980, by his father, he was 30-years-old and living in Binghamton with a roommate who reported not seeing him for 2 days. Marquart’s vehicle was located at a rest area off Interstate 81 in the town of Dickinson, His body was discovered in the Chenango River, about 500 feet behind the rest area, the autopsy determined the cause of death to be drowning but also indicated he sustained injuries consistent with blunt force trauma to his head and face. State Police are asking the public to look at a composite sketch developed in 1980 of a person of interest, at troopers.ny.gov; The white male would’ve been in his 20’s or 30’s in 1980, 5’ 10” between 140-160 lbs, The individual is not currently a suspect; has never been publicly identified, Anyone with information should call (607)561-7400 and ask to leave a message with Major Crimes.

The FBI announced that they will be rewarding anyone with information that leads to an arrest or conviction for a cold case murder that took place in Binghamton four years ago. 12 year old Aliza Spencer was shot and killed in April of 2022 as she was walking with her father and brother on Bigelow Street, A $50,000 reward for information was previously offered, the FBI have now made an additional offer of $50,000, Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Binghamton Police Detectives at 772-7080 or to the FBI at 1-800 Call FBI.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released the autopsy findings following the death of Chelsey Davis of Port Dickinson that occurred shortly after entering the Broome County Correctional Facility on October 8th. Davis’ cause of death was listed as “Chronic Alcohol Use with Hepatic Cirrhosis,” with contributing factors listed as “hemorrhaging pancreas and heart disease. The toxicology report found no alcohol or controlled substances in her system at the time of her death. Davis was remanded to the Correctional Facility by the Town of Chenango Court., after booking procedures, she received a full medical and substance abuse screening with Correctional Facility medical staff before being housed in the Medical Unit. Over the next several hours, Davis was seen by medical staff 2 additional times, she was not exhibiting any issues, 20 minutes after the third visit with medical staff, Davis experienced a medical emergency, staff administered CPR and a Defibrillator but were unable to revive her.

Broome County District Attorney's office announced today that Nicholas Neer of Binghamton, was sentenced in Broome County Court to 7 to 14 years of incarceration following his pleas of guilty to 3rd degree Burglary and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Neer’s convictions stem from an investigation earlier this year by the State Police and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office into a series of burglaries and thefts in the towns of Windsor, Union, and Kirkwood, they identified Neer as a key participant responsible for breaking into multiple properties and possessing stolen items tied to those incidents.

A Binghamton man is facing multiple felony charges after attempting to hide Methamphetamine in a Cheetos bag in a failed effort to fool members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force and the Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group. 29 year old Ralph Carson was found to be in possession of over 5 ounces of Methamphetamine, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest, Carson was arraigned and remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

50 Year old Scott Mitchell of Binghamton has been apprehended by law Enforcement in the state of Florida. Mitchell was located in Daytona Beach, he is wanted for questioning regarding the murders of 58 year old Daniel McCloe & 55 year old Marshall VanOven, who were found in a Binghamton apartment February 5th after they were reported missing. The Autopsy concluded that the cause of death was murder for both men, Mitchell faces extradition from Volusia County back to Binghamton shortly.

Troopers responded to both reports and determined that there was no evidence of shots fired or anyone being injured. After consulting with Fair officials, the decision was made to close the Fair early on Sunday night. State Police continue to investigate the false reports.

34 year old Jade Pittsley of Binghamton pleaded guilty Thursday in Federal Court to escaping from federal custody and possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine. Pittsley was serving a federal term of imprisonment for a drug offense involving methamphetamine in November 2023 and at the time of the crime, she was under the supervision of a halfway house, she failed to return & law enforcement took her into custody, she faces sentencing on December 30th, Pittsley faces a minimum term of 5 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 4 years.

34 year old Rashima Rollocks of Binghamton, pleaded guilty to 2nd degree Assault in Broome County Court. On June 19, 2023 Rollocks committed a violent assault on a seventy-five-year-old blind man inside his home in the City of Binghamton. Rollocks is scheduled to appear back in court for sentencing on November 7th, where she is expected to receive 7 years in New York State Prison followed by 3 years post-release supervision.
The 8th Annual Savannah Williams Memorial Scholarship Fundraising Golf event will be held this Saturday. 39 year old Joshua Smallze of Binghamton has been sentenced to 9 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. Smallze was convicted of Burglary and Criminal Mischief, by a Broome County Jury in May. Smallze forcefully entered 75 Prospect Street in the City of Binghamton on January 22, 2023, where he assaulted the resident, caused property damage to the victim’s residence by hurling a brick through a window.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies performed a traffic stop on Chenango Street in the City of Binghamton, 47 year old James Bell of Conklin was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine along with a scale, Bell was charged with 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, While in custody, Bell was found to have concealed on his person an additional amount of Methamphetamine, leading to an additional charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence. Bell was processed, arraigned and currently remains in custody. The Sheriff's Office reported that Bell had previously been arrested on February 23, 2024 on drug charges and was released on an appearance ticket.

In Case #2, On February 23, 34 year old Marvin Greene of Binghamton was flushing his toilet multiple times, which led to cell search and strip search, Greene became uncooperative, physically struggling with officers, they found synthetic cannabis. Greene was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, Attempting to Conceal/Alter/Destroy Physical Evidence, & Obstructing Governmental Administration.

State Police have arrested 4 people for burglary at a residence in the town of Lisle. On May 5, State police were contacted regarding 4 people taking things from a residence and putting it into a U-Haul. Following the investigation state Police charged Laura Dickerson, Joseph Swarts, Matthew McLaughlin & Jamie Levene, all of Binghamton, for 2nd degree Burglary, they were transported to the Broome County Jail for Central Arraignment and Processing.
State Police arrested 32 year old Alexei Mordwinkin of Port Crane for Menacing, after Troopers were dispatched to Fat Cowboys in the town of Fenton, where Mordwinkin allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun at a patron. Troopers located Mordwinkin at his residence and the item he displayed was a BB gun, he was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton where he was processed and issued an appearance ticket to the Fenton Town Court on July 13, 2023.

The City of Oneonta announced that R.B. Robinson Contracting, will begin construction for River Street and Ann Street Reconstruction and Water Main Replacement project starting today. Work includes replacement of the water mains, new services to curb boxes, stormwater improvements, and pavement replacement from Main Street to past the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club, all of Ann Street, and from Bridge Avenue to the end of River Street. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, is asking for those who attended the original Woodstock Music & Arts festival at that site in 1969, to come forward & share their story. The Center is conducting its "Oral Histories Project" to document the memories of fans who attended the event. Curators from The Museum will be traveling around the country to interview those who attended. The Oral Histories Project began in 2020; over 18,00 stories have been documented. The Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that 32-year-old Stephen Moran of Binghamton was arraigned in Broome County Court Thursday, he was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter, 2nd degree manslaughter, along with several other charges, he is accused of driving intoxicated at an excessive speed August 8th on the Vestal Parkway, his vehicle crashed into a vehicle occupied by Alfred and Paula Latessa, Alfred was pronounced dead at the scene, Paula succumbed to her injuries at an area hospital shortly after the crash.
The Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that 32-year-old Stephen Moran of Binghamton was arraigned in Broome County Court Thursday, he was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter, 2nd degree manslaughter, along with several other charges, he is accused of driving intoxicated at an excessive speed August 8th on the Vestal Parkway, his vehicle crashed into a vehicle occupied by Alfred and Paula Latessa, Alfred was pronounced dead at the scene, Paula succumbed to her injuries at an area hospital shortly after the crash.
The Greater Binghamton Airport announced today that they will be offering additional flights to New York City shortly. Officials announced that Delta Airlines will be offering 2 flights a day to LaGuardia Airport, starting on January 9th. Tickets for the New York City flights will be sold starting tomorrow.

State Police are continuing their search to locate Frederick Mayock who was last seen on the Canadarago Lake boat launch with a kayak on October 22, 2022. Investigators are asking the public who live or have businesses near Canadarago Lake and near the boat launch on State Highway 28 to review security or surveillance footage that show a white kayak (pictured below). If anyone has video of the kayak from Saturday, October 22 between the hours of 9am and 8pm to please contact New York State Police at (607)561-7400.

State Police arrested 18 year old Noe Casas-Aguilar of Binghamton and a 17-year-old juvenile for 2 counts of 1st degree Burglary, 2 counts of 1st degree Robbery plus Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Reckless Endangerment. Troopers were dispatched Sunday Morning to a residence on Bevier Street in the town of Dickinson for a report of 2 males that broke into an occupied home. The suspects fled the area and were located later in Binghamton and were arrested. Casas-Aguilar was transported to Broome County Jail for Central Arraignment and Processing. The 17-year-old was transported to Oneida County Correctional Facility.
Binghamton police arrested 38 year old Carheem Felton of BInghamton, for the shooting of an individual at the Northside Deli on Chenango Street Tuesday afternoon. Felton was charged with Attempted Murder, & possession of a weapon, Police recovered a 9mm ghost gun , anyone with information is asked to contact Binghamton Police at 772-7080.
