51 year old Timothy Hoose of Berkshire, was sentenced today in Broome County Court following his conviction for Grand Larceny after a Jury Trial. Hoose was sentenced to a term of 2 to 6 years in New York State Prison, also the Court entered a Civil Judgment in favor of the victim. Hoose operated a business known as H&H Contracting, he entered into a construction contract with the victim to build a garage on the victim’s property, the victim paid a $15,000 down payment, Hoose illegally converted over $3,000 of those funds for other purposes unrelated to the project. Hoose further failed to provide the victim with an accounting and disposition of the trust funds despite a written request, as required by Law.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34 year old Justin Terenzi of Berkshire, for failing to appear for a court date in January of 2023 after being previously arraigned on a charge. Terenzi was charged with Bail Jumping & was taken to the Central Arraignment for arraignment.

State Police arrested 35 year old Holly Cornell of Berkshire for Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks and Dangerous Fireworks, after a trooper monitoring traffic on I-81 in the town of Kirkwood initiated a traffic stop after a traffic violation, troopers located over $2,000 worth of illegal fireworks in Cornell’s possession, she was released on appearance tickets to the town of Kirkwood court on July 7th.

Binghamton City Police announced that they made the biggest marijuana arrest in 8 years Tuesday, following a traffic stop of 30-year-old Benjamin Key, of Berkshire, for two traffic violations. A search of the vehicle found 7.8 pounds of marijuana in several vacuum sealed bags which has a street value of $32,000, plus $2500 Cash. Key was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and was released on bail; he faces court action at a later date.

2 people have been arrested after State Police discovered a meth lab on State Route 206 in the Town of Triangle Tuesday. Police arrested 37 year old Thomas Parker of Berkshire and 35 year old Stephanie Keller of Whitney Point, Police seized methamphetamine oil, marijuana plants, 1 active & 2 spent one-pot methamphetamine labs, hazardous materials & $1,970 in cash, Both have been charged with criminal possession of controlled substance and unlawful manufacturing of meth, They were arraigned in the Town of Triangle Court and taken to the Broome County Jail without bail.

The Broome County Sheriff's department arrested 2 men in the Town of Lisle for manufacturing methamphetamines. Deputies arrested 28-year-old Anthony Scott of Lisle & 37 year old Marcus Vanvorce of Berkshire both are accused of possessing over the county decongestants & other materials used to manufacture math. Both are being held in Broome County Jail without bail.

Police agencies in Tioga County executed a search warrant in Newark Valley, leading to the seizure of an active meth-amphetamine lab and the arrest of 6 people. Charged were 23 year old Scott Cole, of Newark Valley, 29 year old Jamie Swackhammer of Newark Valley, 31 year old Bryan Burkard of Berkshire, 48 year old Theresa Cochran of Caroline, 23 year old Kara Smithgall, of Endicott, & 28 year old Melanie Short of Berkshire. police executed a search warrant at the Cole and Swackhammer residence Tuesday at 5:00 PM and confiscated items used to manufacture methamphetamine, all were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance; they were arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail. Further charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.

The state Education Department released the list of 16 “persistently dangerous schools” & the Sidney middle school made the list again, the education department stated in their report that stated that schools are placed on the list when there are persistent reports of violent and disruptive incidents. Other upstate schools on the list were in Peekskill, Caroline, Berkshire, Greenburgh; South Seneca and Andover.
