State Prison inmate David Sweat of Broome County is reportedly on a Hunger Strike at Attica state prison. State Correction officials announced that they are seeking a court order to insert a feeding tube for Sweat. Sweat is serving jail time for the 2002 murder of Broome County Deputy Kevin Tarsia, and for participating in the highly publicized escape from the Dannemora prison in 2015.

Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl announced that 50 year old Casey Callahan was arrested Monday on a sealed indictment warrant for 2nd degree Murder for the killing his wife Elizabeth on January 19th, 2000, by allegedly running her over with a tractor trailer in a parking lot in Athens Township Pennsylvania. Muehl stated that the murder was planned out when Callahan & his wife lived at Goodyear Lake; Callahan is s currently serving a 12-½ year sentence for a criminal sexual act conviction from 3 years ago. Callahan was arraigned and was returned to the Attica Correctional Facility. Callahan faces 25 years to life in prison.

Police have nabbed a man who may have been involved in series of store robberies over the last few months across the southern tier.   62-year-old John Malowsky of Attica was arrested by the Tioga County Sheriff's Department in connection with an armed robbery of the Owego CVS store last night, and a Maurice’s in Corning the night before.    Deputies apprehended Malowsky leaving the CVS Store; he is also accused of threatening Deputies with a knife.  Malowsky will be arraigned in Tioga County and is expected to be arraigned for armed robberies in Chemung and Steuben Counties shortly.
