40 year old David Tyner pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Broome County Court, in exchange for a sentence of 5 years in State Prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision. On July 31, 2024, in Binghamton, Tyner was found in possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell, the discovery occurred after Tyner was stopped by Binghamton Police for violating Traffic Laws while operating a motorized bicycle.

A Chenango County Grand Jury indicted 50-year-old Andrew Frank Jr. on several charges for a series of commercial break-ins in downtown Sherburne in November & December of last year. Frank and 49-year-old Rena Jones were arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff's Office on December 7, Frank was indicted on 3 counts of 3rd degree burglary, 3 counts of criminal mischief, & 1 count of attempt burglary, and 3 counts of petty larceny. Jones has been indicted with for 3rd degree burglary, for her role in 1 of the burglaries. Frank was arraigned in court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. Rena was released on an appearance ticket for Village of Sherburne Court.

Frank and Jones were arrested on numerous counts of 3rd Degree Burglary and Criminal Mischief, for allegedly breaking into local businesses and stealing money and damaging property. Frank was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. Jones was released on an appearance ticket for Village of Sherburne Court on a later date. The investigation is still on going and more charges are pending.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she will fire individuals who allegedly contributed to a culture that allowed for sexual harassment under former Governor Andrew Cuomo who resigned this week after the the report by Attorney General Letitia James alleged that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women. Former Cuomo Staffer Melissa DeRosa & Linda Lacewell have already resigned, Governor Hochul said that she would finish assembling her team within 45 days of her inauguration.
The State Department of Transportation announced that State Route 28 near Frank Slawson and Epps roads in the town of Franklin will close September 7th, for a culvert replacement over Knapp Brook. DOT Officials stated that motorists on State Route 28 will be detoured to take state Route 23 to Davenport Center and then take county Highway 10 to Meridale to connect back to state Route 28, the project is expected to be completed on September 22nd.

State Police arrested 33 year old Frank Bowles of Oneonta for Criminal Mischief and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. This arrest occurred after troopers responded to a fight in progress at the Lantern Hill Trailer Park, on State Route 23, in the town of Oneonta. Bowles is accused of smashing a window of a trailer when he was denied entry; Troopers located him walking in the park with lacerations to his hand. Bowles had his injuries treated at the scene by EMS, & while being arrested for damaging the window, Bowles was found to unlawfully possess about 15 grams of marijuana on his person. Bowles was arraigned before the Oneonta Town Court and subsequently remanded to the Otsego County Jail in lieu of $250.00 bail.
After a bounce in January, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s favorability & job performance ratings all fell by double digits this month, according to a new Siena College poll of New York State registered voters. Cuomo’s favorability rating is 53%, down from 62% last month, and his job performance rating went down to 45% from 50% in January.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, & the Chenango County Bureau of Fire, is investigating a fire at 108 County Road 21 in the Town of Plymouth that claimed the life of Plymouth Fire Chief Frank Fowlston Monday. The fire was reported at about 2:00 AM, it appeared to have started in the living room. Fowlston was discovered inside the residence, the autopsy was conducted at Lourdes Hospital, it was determined that Fowlston died of smoke inhalation. Fire Departments from Plymouth, Norwich, North Norwich, Smyrna, and Sherburne fought the blaze, the cause is still under investigation.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Department Investigators arrested 38-year-old Jennifer Fogliano of Masonville on a Bench Warrant from Village of Sidney Court for Failure to Appear on a Grand Larceny charge. When officers responded to Fogliano’s residence, occupants locked themselves in rooms and refused to comply. Officers eventually arrested Fogliano, 37-year-old Jarred Cutting of Masonville, 31-year-old Andrew Baker of Masonville, 22-year-old Ashley Murphy of Sidney Center for Obstructing Governmental Administration. Murphy is accused of possessing Methamphetamine, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. All were arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond. Foglianoa was also arraigned on the Bench Warrant on an additional $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond.

New Chenango county judge Frank Revoir was sworn into office Tuesday at the Chenango County Courthouse. Revoir was sworn in as Chenango County, Family and Surrogate Court Judge, for a 10-year term. Revoir replaces outgoing Chenango County Court Judge Howard Sullivan, who retired at the end of the year.
