Train Traffic Along the Mohawk River Corridor has come to a halt today, following a freight train derailment in the town of Amsterdam. State Route 5 has been closed down as well to allow for easy access by emergency personnel. the clean up is ongoing & they hope to have train travel running again as soon as possible.

The new branch will feature the same concierge-style concept that SFCU established in its Amsterdam location, with personal teller pods and video-enabled iTMs that allow members to connect virtually with a representative while conducting transactions. State Police responded to a crash on I-88 in the town of
Fenton Tuesday. 55 year old Douglas Peters of Amsterdam rear-ended an
unoccupied attenuator truck that was stopped in the passing lane on Interstate
88 just west of exit 2.  The truck did
have its emergency lights and arrow stick activated.  The operator of the attenuator truck was collecting
signage and not in a work zone.  Peters
was ejected after his vehicle struck the concrete barrier, he was transported
to Wilson Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition, he was ticketed for
Failure to Exercise Due Care When Passing a Stopped, Standing or Parked Hazard
Vehicle and not wearing a Safety Belt.

State Police are requesting the public’s help finding 36-year-old JESSICA MARBLE of Altamont. Marble left her residence Sunday evening without medication that she needs for a serious medical condition, she left her cell phone and her dog behind & she missed a meeting with friends in Amsterdam on Sunday evening. Marble’s car is a black 2015 Honda CRV, it entered the State Thruway at Exit 25A, Interstate 88, and left at Exit 25, she may have re-entered the Thruway at Exit 27 & and left at Exit 34, Canastota, at about 4:00 AM Monday. Marble is 5’ 2” tall, weighs about 140 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair; her license plate number is “DBK1402”. Anyone with information can call state police at (518) 783-3211.

State Police arrested 42-year-old Jason Brundige of Norwich, for 2nd degree assault, petty larceny & aggravated harassment. Troopers responded to a report of a physical dispute on August 9th at a home on White Stone Road in the Town of Norwich. Brundige is accused of causing serious injuries to the victim& stealing $300 from the victim’s belongings. Brundige left the scene & sent several threatening phone and text messages to the victim. Brundige was located in the Town of Amsterdam; he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich court and was remanded to the Chenango County jail with no bail set pending court action in the Town of Norwich court on Thursday.

State Police arrested 73-year-old Spencer Harford of Amsterdam, for 3rd degree grand larceny. Troopers investigated a report of 2 bad checks that is accused of using to purchase cattle and a trailer, valued at almost $30,000 from a deposit woman. Harford was arraigned in the Village of Deposit Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or a $20,000 property bond pending future court action.

State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico announced that Service arrangements for Trooper David Cunniff have been set for today and tomorrow.  Calling hours will be today from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Grace Fellowship Church in Watervliet, the Funeral Service will be tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM, also at the Grace Fellowship Church in Watervliet.  Trooper Cunniff died from injuries sustained while conducting a traffic stop on the Thruway Monday night in Amsterdam.

State Troopers in Oneonta arrested 25-year-old Cory Merchant of Sidney for 3rd degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Town of Amsterdam Court for Failure to Pay Fine.  The arrest resulted from a vehicle and traffic stop on State Route 23 in Davenport, Merchant was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Davenport Court for January 8th, he was then turned over to State police in Cobleskill to be transported to the Town of Amsterdam Court for arraignment on the Bench Warrant.
