The DCMO BOCES Board of Education reviewed a proposed capital building project plan at a recent meeting on a plan for renovation of the Robert W. Harrold Campus, the Alan Pole Campus in Norwich and the purchase of the former Masonville Elementary School to house programs for students. BOCES District Superintendent Michael Rullo told WCDO News of the main reasons for the projects:

Both the renovations and the purchase of the Masonville School site are subject to voter approval on February 3rd of next year, the BOCES buildings over more than 50 years old, with the most recent renovations approved in 2005. The projects would start in March of 2027 and conclude in 2028.

State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating missing runaway, 16 year old Hannah Riley of Windsor.  Police reported that Hannah never returned home from school last Thursday, April 15th,  she was last seen wearing sweatpants, a pink sweatshirt with the word “Fly” on it, teal crocs and carrying a pink backpack with the word “Champion” on it, she did not have a cell phone with her.  Anyone with information about Hannah Riley's location should contact New York State Police at Binghamton at 775-1241.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies & SUNY Delhi University Police responded to a physical domestic disturbance involving a weapon on Main Street in Delhi last week.   Deputies arrested 59 year-old Alan Reese with 2nd degree burglary, Criminal contempt & criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Reese is accused of unlawfully entering a residence in violation of an order of protection and engaging in a domestic dispute with the victim.  Reese was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail pending his re-appearance in the Town of Hamden Court on a later date.
State Police arrested 29 year old Matthew Bonser of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania for 1st degree Assault, Burglary & Robbery, he was also charged as a Fugitive for Justice in Pennsylvania.    Police responded Saturday to a violent altercation in the Town of Barker, where Bonser allegedly broke into a residence & attacked a 71 year old resident, who was taken to Wilson Hospital.  Bonser is accused of going to another residence & threatening the occupant with a knife & stealing his car.   Bonser was spotted by a Broome County Deputy  & Troopers, he was pursued until he crashed into another vehicle and a pole on Colesville Road.  Bonser & the  87 year old driver in that crash were taken to Wilson Hospital.  Bonser was processed at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on
Tuesday evening, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies and Emergency Crews
responded to a tractor trailer roll-over accident, with entrapment, on State
Highway 10 in Town of Hamden.   The tractor
trailer had struck and severed a utility pole, bringing power lines down on the
overturned truck. The driver of the truck, 77 year old James Updyke of Homer
was pronounced dead at the scene.  The
highway was closed down for several hours for the investigation & clean up;
it was re-opened for traffic Wednesday morning.
Investigators determined that Updyke failed to negotiate a curve in the
roadway, crossed the roadway and ran off the southbound shoulder where the
truck struck a utility pole and tree and overturned.  The cause of the accident remains pending
upon the completion of an autopsy.
Delaware County Corrections
Sergeant Alan Weaver of Andes was named “Corrections Officer of the Year” by
the New York State Sheriff’s Association winter conference held in Albany, last
week.  Corrections Officer of the Year is
an award that is bestowed on a Sheriff’s Correction Officer who has
demonstrated an exceptional degree of dedication and commitment to the duties
of the Sheriff’s Office in operating County Jails.
