State Police arrested 44 year old Adam Smith of Nineveh following an investigation into a stolen Pick up. Smith was charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument, Grand Larceny, Criminal Tax Fraud, Falsifying Business Records along with other similar charges, On March 12, a Trooper was dispatched to a report of a Ford Super Cab stolen from Bainbridge. Troopers spoke to Smith, he claimed he was in possession of the truck, that he purchased the truck in January & returned on March 11 to retrieve it. Troopers learned the truck was registered to both Smith and to the victim, that Smith stole the truck, illegally obtained the title and forged the owners signature, which he submitted to the DMV, Smith was transported to the Delaware County Jail for Arraignment, He is scheduled to appear at the Guilford Town Court on April 28th for 2 charges & Sidney Village Court at a later date to answer to 4 felony charges.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli & the State Department of Financial Services announced the approval of the Butternut Valley Banking Development District as a participant in the Banking Development District program and deposited $35 million in New York State funds to Sidney Federal Credit Union’s new Morris Branch. SFCU Senior Vice President Andrew Smith said that it was a team effort with the Butternut Valley Alliance & State Officials to make this happen:

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Delhi February 10th, the driver provided Deputies with a false name and date of birth, K9 Dexter discovered Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, plus scales and packaging materials. 43-year-old Adam Bright of Delhi was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, plus Criminally using Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, False Personation, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator among other traffic violations, Deputies transported Bright was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to be held for Arraignment.

Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 46 year old Adam Smith of Kirkwood after Deputies responded Wednesday to report of a man driving in circles on someone's lawn, firing a weapon & striking an electrical transformer & hitting another vehicle while leaving. On Thursday investigators learned that Smith was outside his residence armed with a weapon, he went back inside when officers responded, After a brief standoff, Smith was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed, they seized 2 unregistered handguns, 40-long guns and narcotics. Smith was charged with 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment, 5 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, he was turned over the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by State Police in this investigation.

A woman reported missing from Smyrna, has been located in
Iowa.  Amber Garrison told Police that
she was kidnapped at a truck stop in Pennsylvania in July, and was taken
through several states.  James Smith of
Mexico New York has been charged with kidnapping, assault & obstruction of
emergency communication, Garrison was treated for injuries at an Iowa hospital,
the investigation is continuing.
Tioga County Sheriff's Department responded Friday at about
12:15 PM, to a report of an armed robbery at Community Bank in Nichols. A male
subject entered the Bank and displayed a pistol while demanding money, the
Sheriff’s Office has arrested 31 year old Adam Robinson of Nichols, for 1st
degree Robbery, Criminal use of a firearm and 4th degree Grand Larceny.  Robinson was arraigned and was remanded to
the Tioga County Jail on $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond pending court
action Wednesday.  The investigation is
ongoing.

28-year-old Adam Alexander of Afton pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to 2nd degree manslaughter & driving a vehicle with a BAC higher than .08, in connection with the death of 36-year-old Jason Smith in the town of Colesville last September 5th. Alexander’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of state routes 235 & 7; he collided with Smith’s Motorcycle. Alexander faces sentencing on June 22nd.

28 year old Adam Alexander of Afton was indicted By a Broome County Grand Jury this week, for a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist from Binghamton last September. Alexander was indicted on charges of 2nd degree Manslaughter, Vehicular Manslaughter, DWI, & driving a vehicle with a BAC of .08 of higher, in connection with the crash on September 5th in the town of Colesville, when Alexander failed to stop at the intersection of Route 7 & 235, and struck a motorcycle driven by Jason Smith, who was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Broome County Sheriff Department is investigating a fatal 2-vehicle car vs. motorcycle accident Monday afternoon. Deputies reported that a Jeep Cherokee, operated by 28 year old Adam Alexander of Afton, struck a motorcycle operated by 36 year old Jason Smith of Binghamton, at State Route 235 & State Route 7. Smith suffered traumatic injuries and was transported to Wilson Hospital where he died from his injuries. Alexander was chargedd with Vehicular Manslaughter & DWI, he was arraigned in Town of Colesville Court & he was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.

Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos & His son Adam have pleaded not guilty in a federal court for corruption charges. A federal indictment accuses Skelos & his son of conspiracy and extortion, they were arraigned Monday in a federal court room in Manhattan, Adam Skelos is accused of having a no-show job with a business that lobbied Dean Skelos on legislative matters, with the younger Skelos receiving about $300,000. Dean skeos resigned as leader of the state senate, but is still holding on to his senate seat representing his Long Island district.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2 vehciel accident at about 8:50 this monring between a minivan & a Harpursville School bus on Smith Hill Road in the town of Chenango. 17 year old Katarina Stockton of Conklin lost control of her minivan on a curve and hit the Harpursville school bus head on. Cindy Wilcox of Harpursville was operating the school bus, with 12 students on board, she steered the bus into a ditch to try to avoid the collision. Wilcox was transported to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton with neck & back pain, Stockton suffered minor injuries and was taken to Wilson Hospital, none of the students were injured. Stockton was ticketed for failure to reduce speed under wet conditions & driving left of pavement markings, she is due to appear in the Town of Chenango Court at a later date.

State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam turned themselves into federal authorities today following a federal investigation. Dean Skelos has been arrested on a 6-count indictment charging him with extortion & conspiracy; he becomes the latest high-ranking New York Lawmaker facing charges, the most recent being his former assembly counterpart Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges. Skelos has not yet given up his position as Senate leader. Deputy Senate Leader Tom Libous of Binghamton is currently recuperating from back surgery in Florida, he is also facing charges for allegedly lying to FBI Investigators regarding a position his son received at a Westchester law firm.
State Police responded to a Broome County 911 report of a fatal motor vehicle accident involving 2 race vehicles on the dirt track at the Broome Tioga Raceway in the Town of Lisle. The investigation determined that 38-year-old Michael Smith of Owego, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer when he lost control of his vehicle on a turn and rolled over coming to rest on the driver’s side. His vehicle was then struck by approaching racer 35 year old Mitchell Quail of Richfield, who was unable to avoid a collision. Smith suffered a head injury from the collision and was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital were he died. An autopsy is pending; Mitchell Quail was not injured in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
