State Police at Binghamton responded to a 2-vehicle crash involving an SUV and motorcycle on Hunt Hill Road in the town of Fenton Thursday. The preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV was traveling north on Hunt Hill Road when the operator was making a left turn into a driveway, the motorcycle was traveling south when the 2 vehicles collided, the motorcycle became engulfed in flames, The operator of the motorcycle did not survive. The SUV operator did not report any injuries. The roadway was closed during the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.

18 year old Kyle Whitmarsh of Dickinson is facing multiple charges following a motor vehicle theft in the Town of Fenton Monday. Broome County Sheriff’s Office Deputies observed a vehicle speeding out of the Red Apple parking lot, followed by another individual riding a minibike. Patrols located the minibike driver, who advised the deputies that his friend had stolen the car and driven to a nearby park, the owner of the vehicle also reported his vehicle was stolen. Whitmarsh was charged with Grand Larceny, Criminal Mischief, & Obstructing Governmental Administration, & face court action shortly.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 42 year old Brian Fenton of the Town of Kortright following an investigation into child abuse. On March 9th, Deputies and Delaware County Child Protective Services received a referral regarding an alleged domestic incident involving possible child abuse, it was determined that a physical domestic incident had occurred on March 8th and multiple children were in the residence & were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with an adult. Fenton was charged with Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Fenton was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

The State Department of Motor Vehicles announced that their department helped New Yorkers recover more than $13.6 million in stolen vehicles, titles, parts and services during 2025. The department reported that 384 Stolen Vehicles were Recovered in 2025 Worth $10.4 Million, and an Additional $3.2 Million Recouped in Titles, Repairs and Refunds, That number is an increase from $11 million recovered in 2024.

On Thursday Night, Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol observed a stolen vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on State Route 17 in the Town of Vestal, A pursuit followed, to I-81, to I-88 into the town of Fenton & back through Binghamton into Johnson City, the pursuit ended when a tire fail off, the driver, 28 year old Romario Robinson of Binghamton, was taken into custody. 28 year old Shelby Medovich of Harpursville exited a nearby restaurant & interfered with the investigation of Robinson, she is accused of being a participant in the theft of the vehicle. Robinson and Medovich were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Conspiracy, Robinson faced additional traffic violations both were processed, arraigned & were released on their own recognizance pending future court action.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the new year will bring new affordable health care laws. Effective on January 1, 2026, Health insurers will be required to cover medically necessary EpiPens and cap out-of-pocket costs at $100 per year, breast cancer screening and imaging, and the cost of scalp cooling systems to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer late Friday night on I-88 near Exit 3 in the Town of Fenton. The tractor trailer operated by 54 year old Vicky Chadwick of Pennsylvania went across the median, into opposing lanes and went over the embankment on its side in a drainage ditch. Deputies broke the windshield of the tractor trailer cab, extracted Chadwick, began CPR until EMS arrived on the scene to continue lifesaving actions, Chadwick was declared deceased at the scene.

Assemblyman Joseph Angelino & State Senator Peter Oberacker and local officials honored Bronze Star Medal for Valor recipient SP4 Herman Anders Jr. by unveiling the highway that will bear his name. Specialist Anders took part in Operation Junction City and was a decorated soldier, earning honors such as the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and National Defense. The dedication was held this morning at State Route 79 Chenango River Bridge connecting Greene and Fenton.

42-year-old Jason Delong of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania was arrested by the Broome County Sheriff's Office for 2 Counts of Aggravated DWI, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, 2 Counts of Reckless Endangerment, following an accident on State Route 369 in Fenton. DeLong failed a field sobriety test after crashing his car with a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old inside his vehicle, his car left the road, struck a guardrail and crossed two lanes of traffic before stopping, there were no child safety seats in the car either. The 2 children were not injured, and were turned over to a family member, Delong was processed and arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task executed a search warrant Thursday in the Town of Fenton, where they recovered methamphetamine, synthetic cannabis, Digital scales, Packaging material and $2,508 in US Currency. 53 year old Fred Montgomery of the Town of Fenton, was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus 2 Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Montgomery was arraigned and remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility

Broome County Sheriff’s Office patrols responded Monday to a 911 call reporting shots fired in the area of State Route 7B in the Town of Fenton. The caller had been working to clear brush on State property with a Bobcat machine when he heard a gunshot and saw a person pointing a shotgun directly at him. After raising a portion of the Bobcat to protect himself, the worker called 911. 42 year old Jennifer Warner of Port Crane was taken into custody, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Menancing & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for methamphetamines, she was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

State Senator Peter Oberacker and Assemblyman Joe Angelino announced the signing of legislation renaming a bridge spanning the Chenango River, connecting the Town of Greene and the Town of Fenton in honor of decorated Vietnam veteran Herman Anders Jr. Specialist Anders was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the National Defense Service Medal, while facing intense enemy fire, he put himself in harm's way and led his unit to safety, he continued to defend his fellow soldiers, engaging enemy forces until his last moments. Specialist Anders rests now in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery in Chenango County.

Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 57 year old David Zimmer of Whitney Point following a high speed chase from Binghamton, onto I-88 into the Town of Fenton. on Tuesday,, a traffic stop was attempted on Zimmer, who's vehicle matched the description from an incident in Johnson city earlier. Zimmer was eventually stopped when his vehicle became disabled from a spike strip deployed by deputies & State Troopers. Zimmer faces 2 felony charges, 4 misdemeanors and 31 traffic violations following the high-speed pursuit, he was taken into custody, K9 units found cocaine in Zimmer's Vehicle, he was arraigned at & remains in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol observed a vehicle reported missing from the Town of Fenton. The vehicle had pulled into a driveway in Binghamton when the patrol activated their emergency lights. The vehicle then accelerated into the yard, driving through a fence into the yard of a residence on State St in an attempt to escape police. The vehicle had struck a building, the occupants fled on foot. The female passenger, 21 year old Hailey Blank was located and taken into custody, 20 year old Rodney McCormick, was located & arrested, he was charged with Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment, Obstruction of Governmental Administration & Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Blank was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Obstruction of Governmental Administration. McCormick and Blank were turned over the Binghamton Police to answer for multiple warrants, both were remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

On Monday, Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol a responded to a 911 call regarding a dispute involving multiple individuals and a firearm in the Town of Fenton. 1 of the involved parties had been fighting with multiple individuals before leaving in a red Jeep and returning, patrols found 41 year old Matthew Penny of Chenango Forks, he ignored commands by patrols & drove off. Deputies learned of a female victim inside the residence had injuries from being hit by Penny’s vehicle, she was transported to Wilson Hospital. Deputies met Penny at his address in the Town of Fenton, , he was taken into custody & was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Assault, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, he was arraigned & was released & ordered to appear in the Town of Fenton Court at a later date.

State Police at Troop C responded yesterday afternoon to a residence on State Route 369 in the town of Fenton, where a person was suffering the mental health crisis was taken into custody without incident, no harm to the person or to any law enforcement.

State Police arrested 50 year old Bryan Howard of Mount Vision, Monday for 4 counts of Reckless Endangerment, following an investigation of “shots fired” at State Route 205 in the town of Laurens. A resident discovered bullet holes in the kitchen window where he and his family reside. Troopers located and interviewed Howard and determined he shot in the direction of the residence recklessly engaging in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person. Howard was processed and transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment and Processing.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for Ryan Watson on an outstanding warrant for menacing & jumping bail, Watson was last known to frequent the Lock Street area of the Town of Fenton. Watson is a white male, with brown hair, green eyes, he is 6' 1" tall and weighs about 180 pounds, Anyone with information on the location of Watson is asked to contact the Broome County Sheriff’s Office at (607) 778-1196.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office said that 2 people were taken to area hospitals, following a serious accident on State Route 369 in the Town of Fenton on Saturday. The investigation revealed that at approximately 5:52 PM, the driver of a silver Honda Civic traveling northbound on State Route 369 near Rogers Road failed to negotiate a turn and crossed over into the southbound lane, colliding with a purple SUV. No fatalities were reported, but both drivers were hospitalized and treated for serious injuries. The unidentified driver of the Honda Civic was issued multiple traffic violations.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a head-on collision that claimed the lives of 2 people and a dog on State Route 369 in the Town of Fenton this morning at approximately 9:00 AM. The investigation revealed that the driver of a BMW traveling southbound on State Route 369 veered into the northbound lane at a high rate of speed and collided head-on with a Honda Civic. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. A dog riding in the Honda Civic was also killed in crash. Identities of the victims have not been disclosed pending notification of their families. The Broome County Sheriff’s investigators are asking anyone who has information or may have witnessed this incident to contact the tip Line at 607-778-1196.

33 year old Boyd Fenton was sentenced to to 7-15 years in prison, for setting fire to the horse barn at Tioga Downs on November 9th 2023. Fenton was sentenced in Tioga County Court on Friday, 30 racehorses died in the fire and a trainer was hurt when they tried to rescue horses from the flames.

Broome County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 36 year old Nathan Pixley in the Town of Colesville. Pixley had been sought by law enforcement for several days following a domestic incident in the Town of Fenton on January 2nd, A deputy successfully developed information based on a tip from community and located Pixley hiding in a residence in the Town of Colesville. Pixley was charged with Strangulation, Criminal Contempt, Criminal Mischief, Endangering the Welfare of a Child & Harassment, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Department is currently attempting to locate 36 year old Nathan Pixley of Binghamton regarding the pending charges of Domestic Harassment, Strangulation, Criminal Mischief, Violation of Court Stay Away Order, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child stemming from an incident that occurred in the Town of Fenton on January 2nd. Pixley is known to operate a Gray Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan, license plate NY-KWD-3285 and is last known to frequent the Burr Avenue area of the City of Binghamton. The Tioga County District Attorney’s Office announced that 32 year old Boyd Fenton of Athens, Pennsylvania was arraigned on a 105-count indictment for setting a fire at Tioga Downs that killed 30 horses, destroyed the barn, injured a trainer, he was indicted for arson, assault, burglary, 38 counts of criminal mischief, 30 counts of interference with or injury to domestic animals; 31 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; aggravated cruelty to animals; bail for Fenton has been set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 property and $250,000 secured bond.

State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 32 year old Boyd Fenton of Athens, Pennsylvania after a fire at a barn at the Tioga Downs Casino complex Thursday. Over two-dozen racehorses died in the fire. Fenton has been charged with Arson, Burglary, Criminal Mischief & Assault, An investigation revealed that Fenton entered the barn and intentionally set a fire, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. 1 person who entered the burning barn in an attempt to save horses suffered second degree burns and was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment. Fenton was arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County Correctional Facility.

The Sidney Moose Lodge will host a spaghetti fundraising dinner Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, for Tracy Ramage and Dave Charles, who lost their home & their dog in a fire on August 30th. State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 44 year old Erin Walker of Union, for 3rd degree Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records. An investigation revealed that Walker embezzled approximately $12,000 from American Window Cleaning Company in the town of Fenton from 2016 to 2022. Walker was arrested and brought to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Central Arraignment.

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 33 year old Adam McKrell of Port Crane for 3 Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, plus Unlawful Imprisonment, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration & Harassment, after a physical domestic incident in the Town of Fenton. Deputies responded Friday to the Town of Fenton, McKrell was outside yelling at his girlfriend & was preventing her from leaving the premises. McKrell refused to comply with deputies, resisted arrest and after a State Trooper deployed a Taser on him, he was taken into custody. McKrell is accused of striking the female in the presence of 3 children, he was arraigned at central arraignment and released. He is due to appear in the Town of Fenton Court at a later date.

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies responded Monday in the Town of Fenton for a Burglary complaint. The homeowner had found an unknown man in a 2nd floor room around 1:30 AM, the intruder left on foot, a laptop computer and several other electronics were missing from his residence, a downstairs window was left ajar with the screen ripped out. Deputies apprehended an individual with the stolen items in a drawstring bag, 24 year old Mitchell Paul of Binghamton, was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property & Criminal Mischief, he was taken to Central Arraignment and is currently being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility. Later that morning Deputies responded to a separate Burglary complaint in the Town of Fenton, where various items were stolen, they discovered that those items were in Mitchell Paul's drawstring bag, he was additionally charged with Burglary.

State Police arrested 63 year old Thomas Brick of Fenton, for 3 counts of 3rd degree Grand Larceny. An investigation began in early July after Troopers learned that Brick accepted money from a victim in April for 3 separate contracting jobs for over $24,000, but Brick did not complete the contracting work at 1 location and didn’t start work or purchase materials for the other 2 properties. Brick was processed & was transported to the Chenango County Jail for arraignment.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for Dylan Shoemaker on an outstanding warrant for Criminal Contempt, he is described as a white male, 6'3" tall with brown eyes & brown hair, he is balding & wears glasses & is known to frequent the Town of Fenton. Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 31 year old Derek Wignall of Hancock, pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt. Wignall violated an Order of Protection by contacting the protected party while incarcerated on an unrelated matter, he was placed back into custody upon discovery of the violation of the Order of Protection. Judge Rosa ordered a pre-sentence investigation to be undertaken by the Delaware County Probation Department. If found to be appropriate, Wignall will be placed on probation supervision for a five-year term.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call placed at a Fast Trac gas station in the Town of Fenton from a victim reporting that she had been assaulted and held hostage on Ballyhack Road in the Town of Fenton before escaping. 39 year old Steven Fish of Fenton is accused of threatening the victim with a machete, sexually and physically assaulting the victim, who was treated at a local hospital. Fish was charged with 1st Degree Rape, Criminal Sexual Act by Forcible Compulsion, Unlawful Imprisonment & Menacing, he was arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 35 year old Brian Worden of Oneonta following a disturbance call. Worden is accused of possessing a controlled substance when police showed up to a disturbance in the Meadows Office Complex Parking lot, Worden was arrested & was issued an appearance ticket.

State Police BCI unit arrested 36 year old Ian Rotunno of Fenton, Thursday for multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Rotunno was found in possession of a loaded and illegal rifle when located by law enforcement after a 24 hour manhunt. An investigation revealed that the weapon is a “ghost gun”, plus he is accused of possessing 2 magazines that are not New York State SAFE Act compliant and were loaded with armor piercing ammunition. Rotunno was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 42 year old Kristina Hill of Cooperstown following the report of an accident on July 9th in the Town of Burlington. Hill was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident, Failure to Keep Right & Moving from a Lane Unsafely, Hill is accused of leaving the scene after crashing into a mailbox & failing to report the accident, also a child sustained an injury in the accident. Hill was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the Town of Burlington Court at a later date.

State Police announced that the unidentified man police have been looking for since Wednesday afternoon, was taken into custody by members of Broome County SWAT Team Thursday Afternoon near his residence in the 6000-block of State Route 79 in the town of Fenton. There is no threat to the public. No injuries were reported to the man or to law enforcement, the investigation continues.
