NY State of Health is encouraging New Yorkers who need
health coverage to enroll in a 2020 Qualified Health Plan by this Friday,
February 7th, as the Open Enrollment deadline was extended an
additional week to give consumers more time to find the health plan that fits
their needs and enroll in coverage.   Enrollment through NY State of Health is at
its highest point, with more than 4.8 million New Yorkers enrolled in a health
plan.


State Senator Jim Seward has given his endorsement to
Republican Assembly Candidate Joe Angelino of Norwich today.  Angelino is the former Norwich Police Chief
who announced his candidacy for the State Assembly seat held by Cliff Crouch,
who announced that he will not seek re-election this year.  Angelino faces a Republican Challenger, Nick
Libous of Binghamton.


A Smart Recovery program for local people dealing with
substance abuse issues,  has recently started
in Bainbridge, Program Director Aletha Cannistra explains:

Cannistra said that the meetings are held Wednesday nights
at 7:00 PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at 1 Church Street, more information

Chenango Arts Council and Guernsey Memorial Library are
teaming up again to present four free film classics, starting today &
running every Wednesday in February.

library, Quiet Man at the Arts Council on February 19th, & Guess Who’s

Governor Cuomo announced an update on the status of testing
for the coronavirus in New York State.
Samples from 17 New Yorkers have been sent to the CDC for testing, 11
have come back negative, and 6 samples are pending. There are still no
confirmed cases of coronavirus in New York State yet.  A hotline has been set up for New Yorkers to
call at 1-888-364-3065, where experts from the Department of Health can answer
questions, they also created a website:
health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/coronavirus. .


Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay & members of the
Assembly Minority Conference called for an immediate repeal of recently-enacted
criminal justice reforms that put New Yorkers at risk. Local Assemblyman Cliff

Lawmakers were joined by families directly impacted by the
new bail reform laws, and law-enforcement officials who expressed serious
concerns with the new requirements.


Local Mayors Andy Matviak of Sidney, Phil Wade of Bainbridge
and Dave Welch of Unadilla have been meeting monthly for about the last year,
one of the issues they have dealt with is how to get legal notices & other
information out following the demise of the Tri Town News, and they have
decided to send out an email blast together, Bainbridge Mayor Phil Wade

their village offices to submit their email address, each Email blast will come
out Thursdays to those who have subscribed.
