The State Health Department urges New Yorkers to get a flu
shot as new numbers released today show increases in laboratory confirmed cases
of influenza. Last week, 1,839 laboratory confirmed influenza cases were
reported to the State Health Department a 60% increase from the previous week.  There have been almost 5,000 laboratory
confirmed cases reported to the Department this flu season, with 1,040
flu-related hospitalizations and one flu-associated pediatric death reported.


Former Delhi Village Clerk Michele Barnes pleaded guilty on
Thursday after pocketing $4,788 in public funds for her personal use, following
an audit and investigation by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office.  Barnes issued 4 checks to herself from
December 2017 to October 2018. She pleaded guilty to petty larceny and agreed
to pay full restitution plus $500 to cover the village of Delhi's insurance
deductible in lieu of 3 years' probation plus 1 year conditional
discharge.


Governor Cuomo has signed “Gio’s
Bill” named after a 14 year old Giovanni Cipriano of Long island,  the new bill will allow police officers and
firefighters to administer Epinephrine auto-injectors to individuals
experiencing severe allergic reactions.
Cipriano died in October of 2013 from an allergic reaction after eating
a peanut product, and suffered a severe anaphylactic attack.

State Police arrested 33 year old Thomas Shaw of Franklin
for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, after a trooper was dispatched to
a report of an overturned vehicle on State Highway 357 in the town of
Franklin.  Minutes before the crash,
multiple citizens had contacted 911 reporting an erratic driver.  Shaw was transported to Bassett Medical
Center; he was later arrested and issued appearance tickets to the town of
Franklin court.


The Chenango Arts Council announced the return of Illusionist
Jason Bishop at the Martin W. Kappel Theater in Norwich Saturday night, Council
CEO Alecia O'Neill comments:

The annual Operation Merry Christmas giveaway day will be
tomorrow in Sidney, spokesperson Dorene Ireland explains:

The giveaway will be from 9:00 to 3:00 at AO Fox Hospital
Tri Town Campus on Pearl Street in Sidney, Ireland said that this year was one
of the biggest years for requests for presents for area children.

annual Jim Podraza Free Christmas Dinner on Saturday, December 14, served from

State Police arrested 36 year old Lucas Wank of Deposit for
Driving While Intoxicated & Possessing a Loaded Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
after a trooper was dispatched to a 1-car crash on Old Route 17 in the town of
Sanford.  Wank was transported to Wilson
Hospital for evaluation; he was issued appearance tickets to the town of
Sanford court for January 13th.


The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce continues with their
Holiday festivities again tomorrow, Spokesperson June White explains:

White said that on Sunday Carolers will sing Christmas songs
starting out at 5:00 PM at Bob's Diner.


NY State of Health announced that as of December 11, more
than 200,000 consumers have enrolled in a 2020 Qualified Health Plan, outpacing
enrollment from the same period last year by approximately 7,000
enrollees.  Consumers must enroll or
renew by December 15 for coverage beginning January 1, 2020.
