Assembly members are calling on Governor Cuomo to waive registration fees and up to $1,000 worth of state sales tax on vehicles purchased by those whose previous vehicle was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Assemblyman Pete Lopez was one of the members of the bipartisan coalition calling for the measure:

The group is also pushing for rebates on sales tax already paid on such purchases.
Governor Cuomo announced that the Department of Health would issue proposed regulations to ensure that the unique needs of pediatric patients are respected by requiring that hospitals communicate critical test results in plain language to parents before a child is discharged from the hospital. The regulations also require hospitals to post a "Parents' Bill of Rights" letting parents and patients know of the important protections provided by these regulations.
Chenango County Sheriff Office arrested 27-year-old JoVonne Woolever of Sherburne for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Woolever was charged as deputies were investigating a domestic dispute it was found that Woolever was in possession of prescription pills that she did not have a prescription for, she was taken into custody without incident, processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear at a later date.
State Senator Jim Seward has received his senate committee assignments. Seward will once again chair the senate insurance committee, and will serve on the senate committees for agriculture, Education, finance, Health, Higher education, Mental Health and Rules.
Springbrook announced that they would be building community homes in the village of Sidney this spring. Springbrook CEO Patricia Kennedy and her staff hosted an event at Angus & Ale this afternoon about the project:

The 2 new community homes will be located in the Sherwood Heights section of Sidney on Johnson Circle & Bird Avenue; Kennedy said that they should be open this summer.
Governor Cuomo today announced that more than 280 groups across the state have signed on to support the Women's Equality Agenda. New Yorkers can go to NY4Women.com to sign up to support the 10-point plan, calling for Pay Equity, Stopping Sexual Harassment in All Workplaces, Allow for the Recovery of Attorneys' Fees in Employment and Credit and Lending Cases, Strengthen Human Trafficking Laws, End Family Status Discrimination, Stop Source-of-Income Discrimination, Stop Housing Discrimination for Victims of Domestic Violence, Stop Pregnancy Discrimination, Strengthening Order-of-Protection Laws & Protecting a Woman's Freedom of Choice.
The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 20-year-old Mark Neubauer of Greene for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Neubauer was charged following a traffic stop in the Town of Oxford where he was found to be in possession of marihuana. Neubauer was given an appearance ticket for a later date in the Town of Oxford Court.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 2 men Monday following a street stop, and execution of search warrants on their persons and a vehicle, in Binghamton. 50-year-old Robert Jones was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, & a Parole Violation, he was found to be in possession of 2.8 grams of crack-cocaine, 50 envelopes containing heroin, and $728 cash. Jones is accused of attempting to discard the drugs as Investigators approached, & he was out on Parole for Attempted Murder in New York City. Also arrested during the traffic stop was 36-year-old Charonn Stotts of Johnson city, for criminal possession of a controlled substance, he was found to be in possession of 100 envelopes of heroin, and $1,452 cash. Both were arraigned in the City of Binghamton Court and were remanded to the custody of the Broome Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

These measures, which will be implemented through regulations issued by the Department of Health, will save an estimated 5,000 to 8,000 lives per year. Sepsis is a progressive shutdown of the body's organs and systems caused by systemic inflammation following infection that enters the blood or soft tissue and over 200,000 die from it nationwide each year.
The DELAWARE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES will hold another free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats, and ferrets today at the Delhi Fire Hall At 140 Delview Terrace Extension. The clinic will run from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, more information is available at 832-5200 or at delawarecountypublichealth.com.
